There was an IOT with essentially IOTIV's ruleset - The Space Race - which has not proved tremendously popular.

Not if you're France and you can't get over 5 provinces. Can't take a little diplomacy?

There were 6 diplomacy offers from me. I didn't see any from ailedhoo's side

TSR stands as a fetid testament to the root problem of spiritual decay.

Thorvald, it's more that the game has evolved. It's not "Spiritual Decay" anymore than the fact I now think the writing I produced 2 years ago is crap is "Authorial Decay". We've moved on. It's an updated, evolving new community and game style, like my writing is just a new style, tighter, and better.

No, when you have two players dragging down the game to infractible depths over a border spat because the GM doesn't give a damn about decorum, I call it an empirical problem.

1 player.

I tried to find a solution where we both got some of the border. I also had a solution where only the UN gets the borders.

Oh well I tried.

It's not so much I don't care about decorum, it's that nations do not always get along and I respect this fact.

As you'll remember, I also threatened to penalise both for any rude remarks made towards the other. Nations can bicker all they want; personal insults are NOT acceptable.

OMYGOSH, LH's new avvy is the Spanish Republican flag rotated 90º!!!

Well sorry. If you call such discussion "BS" you might find yourself never updating simply because of human nature to argue about the fallacies of youth/younger generation while looking nostalgically towards their own. As well as the truly never ending debate about merging IOT and NESing communities, with supports and detractors both convinced they won the argument. (personally, individual level integration is good enough for me). Such discussions are GOOD for a community because it allows a second for the community to reflect and reconsider, and then for individuals to choose their own actions.

EDIT: This discussion has occured various times in various ways in the NESing community, either through private discussion about different rulesets, threads, chatrooms and elsewhere. And they still continue to pop up various times. It won't end. Once you become self-conscious, you are forever self-conscious. Enjoy it. :)

Cynical bluffs do not transport across the internet well. My fault, even though I posted something much more realistic and non cynical in another thread.

This crisis has gone way to out of hand. It has led the IOT community to near civil war, something that we haven't seen since the schism. And even THAT did not lead the community to civil war. It seems that this has been the result of two separate camps: one camp representing the old order. The old days of IOT. Whilst the second camp is composed of those who wish for the current ways of IOT and leave the old ways behind. But, there are some who are even in a third, smaller camp, that does not wish for war.

This has been the closest in where we have seen the IOT split apart. There was talk of a possible civil war when the Forum of IOT was created. However, that crisis has since died out. As a semi-veteran of IOT, I say we create games that combine BOTH the old and new ways to avoid total civil war.

I love both the old and new ways, nor do I want a civil war, I would just like GM freedom over his own game, this has been blown out of proportion, but I would also like to see some more activity and innovation in IOT. As soon as I get the time, I will update valk and I will also start a new style of IOT, the simple yet new one. The problem is that people looking at the old ways tend to just plagiarize and copy it. IOT deserves to die when it becomes just another stale copy of another game, every change is welcome, the map, the rules....just dont turn this into a boring claim X invest X game. New Ideas with Old Styles, a natural blend.

Civil War? You ain't talking of this General Strike claim among GMs, are you? Because apart of that, which is completely unrelated to the topic of this thread, I can't think of what else would you call "Civil War"...

Beat me too it. Best doesn't have an idea of what he is talking about. And this is the wrong thread for that discussion.

A Civil War? Nah.

A Peasant Uprisings? Yeah probably.

TBH there is no Civil War. I would no this because I am widely regarded as one of the "ring leaders" of the other faction. But this civil war doesn't exist, I actually agree with the other side in some respects, but I believe that they way they handled the situation was incorrect.

We don't have a ring leader. Maybe BJ, but we're not advocating for anything new, just the status quo.

I don't want to see this mostly decent community, as ripe and fresh as an apple, become tainted and spoiled due to a few protesting maggots.
