Well, when I had cameos in mind, I figured non-official characters, whether Sonic or not in design. Characters already in Sonic canon are more or less off limits since I may or may not have plans for them in the future.

For an example, a tease of quasi-confirmed officials:

-Tails
-Shadow
-Silver

Don't worry. There will be ladies in this! ...eventually.

I've completed 3-4, 3-5 and 3-6 since my last post, and am now working on 3-7, as well as a quick intermission page that I will put between every 6 or so pages.

This is a preview of 3-7. Dear god, even after hours it still looks like garbage. Note to self: avoid drawing cities or towns where possible.

That's good! Just soften the shading on Ash, it's perfect. (Blur brush is messy, try using a blurry eraser.)

Simba is awesome. Very subtle differences though.

Today I decided to try something a little harder: a wolf. I think it turned out alright, I need to clean it up a bit, but I think it looks ok.

Not bad, you look like you're ready for using more layers (not the 'layers' features, mind you) and blending/superimposing them. Have you tried the spraycan tool? Also there's a color gradient (Degradè) tool. Or is it Degradé? Whatever.

Yeah looks great. But instead of outlining the figure, try juxtaposing light and dark areas to give the illusion of an edge, just like in real life. (in other words, shading and highlighting)

GIMP has a smudge tool you can fidget around with.

I don't really like the smudge tool. It's messy and causes havoc with everything. The only time I ever use smudge is with hair.

I just use multiple layers and a blurry eraser.

EDIT: yeah, try blurry brushes.

By the way, how do you do your highlights in GIMP? Just a white overlay or something similar?

yeah, add a white layer (maybe 80% opacity) and add a black layer mask. Then color white on the layer mask to highlight.

alos, the picture looks good except that I can see the repetition of the texture on the wolf's fur. try blurring it.

What would you recommend for a rate? 50 breaks up the pattern a bit, but it's still noticeable.

Actually that looks good for the medium fur. You're going to have to blur the dark fur more, though.

As for rate...I wouldn't even use the blur brush. I would use the same color you used for the fur, just with a fuzzy brush. Do you happen to have a tablet?

No, I don't have a tablet. And I just noticed the fuzzy brushes . Anyways, here's the picture with the top, dark fur fuzzy-brushed

Yeah, good. I would some refining though because it's good to have a little texture in the fur, just lessen the opacity on your brush. Since you don't have a tablet it's much harder to adjust the opacity of a brush.
