I've been working on my actual sketching/drawing lately and here's what I have done so far.

Spoiler The drawings :

This was my first one, which I did yesterday. The face is too long and looks too fat, and the right eye is messed up, I don't particularly like it.

This one was done today, it's a bit better overall, but the nose is far too small

This is probably the best overall, as the proportions are fairly good, the eyes are a bit off, but other than that, it's alright.

Good start. Let me talk about the last one you drew:

Start with the eyes instead of the outline of the face (I'm assuming you didn't). The ratio of the size of the iris to the eyeball is wrong, there needs to be much more space between the edge of the iris and the bottom of the upper eyelid.

The light part underneath needs to be more rounded, and the eyebrow needs to be much longer. The shading around his eye should terminate at the end of the light part and connect to the end of the eyebrow.

Round off the nose a little bit, and give it the right perspective, it's looking a little too straight-on.

One last thing, he has a very round chin, yours is a little square.

Just some thoughts. ;) I don't fancy myself an expert or professional, but I think I'm pretty good at portraits. Speaking of which, I'm drawing one of Hayley Williams right now.

Here's two more sketches of Simba I did today, the first I drew the outline of the face first and the second I did the eyes first. The second looks better in part due to the eyes, allowing me to plan the rest of his face around them and also because I gave myself much more room to work with.

I'd say I'm doing alright for not being in an art classroom since 6th grade.

Nice! Always start with the focal point of the picture. (In this case the eyes.)

Very nice portrait there :goodjob:

Anyways, I drew this today, I don't really like the head shape or ears or left eye, but I thought practicing different expressions would be good. One of these days I'll do a whole-body drawing.

Both eyes are weird, the rest I like. :)

Thanks Radio. Nice drawing you've got there as well. Looks good, and practicing different facial expressions helps in the long run.

I've done another portrait, but I don't want to spam this thread with my work. >.> So continue with the artwork, guiz!

Finally decided to make a sprite myself from the ground up, with no tutorial help or using a base.

Hopefully it's a demonstration of an improvement on my part (although i do like the middle ones, i feel more proud of the last 2 ones, since as i said i made them "independently" so to speak)

If you'd like to get more exposure as an artist, you might try tweeting that image and tagging her with it (or whatever, I don't really use twitter).

Twitter es stupido. Fair enough idea; though, I really just draw for myself and my friends, not as a career.
But that isn't even my favorite portrait, I just finished one of Anne Hathaway (it's actually just an enlargement of my avatar. :mischief:).

please don't steal my easily-discernible last name and use it for malicious purposes, kthanx.

I was listening to Dark Knight rises soundtrack "imagine the fire" and suddenly got the inspiration to draw this.

It's Harley Quinn. My favorite "super hero fantasy" character.

Actually almost all super hero characters are pretty hollow and lame with few the best exceptions of joker, batman and her.

:satan:

I'm half-convinced HEath ledger could've played both the Joker and Harley Quinn.

The vine whip reminds me of The Meek.

This also reminds me that I have to start working on all the otrographical signs for mah font.

The first one's beautiful. You sure you can't colour?
