The drawing thread

Rather slow, lately, guys! School getting you down?

I have some sketches to poke your creative side a bit. Remember, green is not a creative color.

Dean Winchester (Supernatural):

Both are rather big images, but the sketches themselves are small.

I mostly doodle in the backpage of my notebook. I just happen to have pens though, so they don't even look good.

One of your works?

I really like that one. Very well done :)

In fact i would be very pleased if it can be used (with all credit given, of course) in the case that i produce a story related to those black wing-formations. The magazines almost always are in need of a small drawing or painting to prelude the story they print :) At any rate, congratulations for this interesting sketch.

Thanks so much. :) Unfortunately, I don't actually own the rights to the drawing, as it's just a sketch from a reference photo of a character from the CW television series 'Supernatural.' And the quality of the photo is not very good anyway.

"Miss me, boys?"

Practice sketch of the Red Lotus from Multipolarity 1 and 2; remember her? The first game ends with the Lancers leading an international coalition to crush the Chinese dictatorship before confronting the fascist superpower Greater Union of New Scotireland, whose defeat ushers in a long-lasting World Peace™. In the sequel, they square off against a resurgent Chinese Empire (because a millennium wasn't long enough for players to forget past grudges) and a similar totalitarian superpower courtesy of Patriotic_Fool's Soviet Union, to like results. (As of this writing, epilogues to both games are still works in progress, the former overdue by over a year now.)

While she spends most of the games operating at a distance, by the time of the epilogues her patience is exhausted and she intervenes personally to ensure the opposing régimes' destruction. Her attire here is based on the MP1 Epilogue in which she leads the coalition into the capital and confronts the villainous China Six one by one in ascending order of criminality. The sword was originally just for this picture, but I might make it canon for the "cool" factor.

This is the third, and unquestionably best sketch of her thus far; I can't call it a redesign since that would imply I was working consciously. The legs were torture; until I started shading them I thought I'd botched the perspective, and redid them four or five times at least without substantial changes. As usual, there are a few minor imbalances that only came to light after I'd scanned, cleaned, and uploaded, but this is nonetheless one of my best drawings to date and blows the old work clear out of the water.

I've heard rumours to that effect, yes. :smug:

I really love how you draw and all.

yeah i noticed you symphony d'd the thread

Something really quick I did for the Sonic Revolution Facebook page; it was made only days ago and already is woefully obsolete, as now the movement has nearly 400 Likes.

It was reasoned by our chief organiser that since fists are a common symbol of uprisings, we should have a fist clenching a ring as an emblem of sorts. I rolled with it since I couldn't think of much that'd be better myself.

Originally I debated putting him on a mountain of broken robots but that was too much work for me, for I am His Most Lazy Highness. :p

Something I did for the Werehog contest the Sonic Stadium is holding; my entry is Ratchet from Ratchet&Clank as a Werehog. Like how it came out overall, though I probably could have done better on the outstretched arm. Ah well. Coming next, Sly Cooper as a Werehog.

My grandma wanted me to draw her something and I didn't really have much time, so I grabbed the closest photo of myself and made this. She said she wanted a non-Sonic image, so I compromised and took a picture of myself that I got at a gaming convention and worked with that. I was wearing my Sonic cap so that's that.

I did it without any gridding and the reference image is 1 square inch if that so that explains any errors.
which was taken via a HQ camera courtesy of the people at the Sony booth; unfortunately taking a picture of the picture with my camera has degraded the quality. :p

Now don't go out delaying Sonic games and adding hats to em ;).

I love you, man. Marry me now.

not exactly figure drawing, not from real life/photo, weird stance, big ass, torso a bit too tall
so ... yeah ... doesn't really feel i'm getting any closer to being at least a bit better at it :D

^Pixel by pixel?

The old masters of that art were amazing, but by now i think that virtually no one uses it for games (although some 2d games can look better with just pixel work). :)

Going by the shields i suppose you are using some 'masks' from good 2d editing software as well.
