The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I do not get dizzy, but I do get lost, and I have to use the map often...:(
I found Oblvion's map/compass very useful. :) They could still improve it though by adding graphic icon to houses in the city map to indicate the shops and guilds. This way player doesn't need to hover the mouse over all the houses to find out which is which. Allowing players to set more than one markers would be nice too.

8 screenies:

Found this Elven ruin (think it's called Wendblek) with a light beam... hope I find some goodies in there...

Summoning a skeleton and use a Damage Fatigue spell is a good way to improve destruction skill

I on the other hand is very comfortable in third person... I can judge distance just fine. I guess it's all those training I got in Tomb Raider...

I used to playing morrowind, which I played first person figting and visiting towns, third person for travelling.

I do both in Oblivion, even third person fighting.

You guys get dizzy while playin games? That aint a good sign......at all.

Actually use can just use a damage fatigue spell on yourself to raise your destruction. You can raise all schools of magic by casting them on yourself.

The first time I got dizzy playing a game is the first time I got my hands on a FPS - Hexen.

I played for hours and when I stopped, I felt dizzy and an urge to vomit - but nothing came out.

Being young and poor (so not much other choices), I kept playing Hexen. Quickly I got used to the wobbling (like the next time I played), and after Hexen I played lots of 3D games that involves constant actions, e.g. Tomb Raider. Back then I can even run and tumble around in Tomb Raider so my friend looking at it felt dizzy after a while.

I thought I am immune to that now... but apparently I'm not. I'll just need to practice more... soon I'll get used to it again.

Also @ Thunderfall:

If your computer can handle it, there's a mod that improves the look of glass armor. It makes the glass transparent - revealing the chain armor underneath. Looks really cool.

I'm not using it until I upgrade though :p

Not going to install any mod that might make the game slower... My comp is a few years old (AMD Athlon 2800+ :( ). The game can get sluggsih when fighting multiple opponents or when there is weather effect like raining.

Anyone know how to make black soul gem? I tried to put a soul gem on the altar and inside the altar, then cast soul trap spell on it. It didn't work. Do I have to wait to the light to appear (like the light beam in the first screenshot a few posts up)?

Yup you must wait for the (un)holy light to appear. Just go there, wait until like 22 pm and then do 24 h waits until you see a light. I dont remember on which day the light shows.

Thanks.

Another thing... what kind of items do you enchant? I tried enchanting but the effects are very weak (ex. shield 10, fortify health 10, etc) and not worth it. I already have lots of items that have much better effects.

I just use sigil stones or the quest rewards, much easier that way really.

How do you "wait" on the 360 version

For weapons, I usually enchant my weapons with something like these:

Weakness to XXX 100 pts for 2 seconds
XXX damage N pts for 2 seconds
Soultrap for 2 seconds

For non-elemental (fire/cold/lightning/poison) spells, use Weakness to Magicka.

The weakness is rated dirt-cheap in Oblivion - even 100 pts for 2 seconds will cost almost nothing. With that, your damage effect is nearly doubled - the first second it will deliver N points of damage and 2N in the next second. This way you get discounts on the enchantment and charge costs.

The soultrap effect is such that the weapon will recharge itself with Azura's Star.

For armor, since you can only place 1 constant enchantment, the ones you can find as loot and rewards would be much better. So when I enchant armor/clothing, I create things for a specific purpose that I find no loot/not enough loot to fufill. e.g.

Chameleon 100%
Fortify Magicka
Fority Acrobatics & Fortify Speed (so I can jump up to crazy places)
Feather clothing (to be used when dragging lots of loot on return trip)

Can't help you... I'm a PC-only gamer. But there aren't that many buttons on your XBox controller, are there? Just try them all! ;)

The wait function on PC is triggered by pressing a button while you're standing around... since the PC and XBox version share the same code base, I assume trying all the buttons should work. ;)

Well there aren't just buttons on the controller there are things you activate in the game so its bunches of things I would have to check.

I'm stuck on Mankar Camoran's Paradise Island and I need a bracelet to pass through a door in the Flooded Grotto. Where can I find one?

Until then I'm hooked on NBA Live 06.

IIRC you get the bracelet when you're outside... there's a daedra carrying it, and this daedra will talk to you.

Yes, that's right. You get it from a daedra before you go
in. You even get a choice as to how...
