The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

All charectors and creatures in the game are relative, meaning they level with you, so she isnt like a set level of eighteen or something, shes level two along with me. That and I do controlled leveling to max my stats, so pretty much, at level 2 my strenght is a high as it could possibly be.

Yeah, that's good for some things like generic creatures, but not charactors like Umbra or creatures that are suppsoed to be really strong.

Wow, she's that weak? In my game I think I killed her when I was in level 15 or 20's...

This has to be a design problem then. A legendary swordswoman getting killed by a level 2 character is crazy. :crazyeye:

Actually in Oblivion's lore, as apposed to Morrowind's, Umbra(The swordswoman) is possessed by the Sword Umbra, and yah, she's just the equivalent of a level 2 breton with Umbra and a set of ebony armour.

What i'd like is more variety of textures for weapons... anyone know of a mod that incorporates lotsa new models and all that jazz?

I don't think you can have more variety of textures for the same weapon, you can just have more weapons with different textures.

I've seen one that makes glass armors and weapons to be actually semi-transparent, and also includes some glass items of other colours. It will stress your video card (even more) though.

EDIT: I got Shivering Isle. Had problem with install - need to go into safe mode or the InstallShield crashes. Also applied fan-made FormIDFix. After that it ran smoothly for 4 hours non-stop, crashing only when I exit the program.

Yeh, Oblivion seems to crash a lot now whenever I exit it. It's not doing any hard, but it bemused me.

Ayelied swords? I think I have that one, but I was never successful in finding any of them :(

Disclaimer: old screenies, made with my old GPU, now the game looks much better with my new GPU :).

There are two mods. In one, the swords are for sell in a new house, relatively easy to find.

In the other, they are hidden in Ayelid ruins. I found one by chance a the beginning of the game. Good non magical sword.

Im pretty sure its not that way becuase Ive never seen anything that isnt relative to your charector, plus I beat Umbra.....so........

No, you misunderstand me, that is my opinion on the scaled leveling. You should not be able ot beat Umbra at a low level, but with the eveling system in Oblivion you can.

Ahhhh then I did, no I should nto have been able to beat her, I mean, I know have the most powerful natural sword in the game and a full set of ebony armor at level 2, a little ridiculous it is.

I finally got around to purchasing and downloading Shivering Isles and the KOTN w/all the official mods.

I'm counting down the minutes before I run out of work to install those, and the new patch.

Be sure you read about this very, very serious bug brought to you by Shivering Isle... you will be affected if you installed SI, no matter which area your character is in.

FormID Reference Bug

Fortunately a fix is already made... available as a mod inside the above link. I would not recommend the beta patch from Bethesda... because it would require a reinstall.

Thanks, I'll have to download and run that fix.

Done and done. the UESP alerted me to it when I was messing around trying to find the console commands that would re-open the oblivion gates after the MQ(they didn't work :( ) and now i'm trying to get my destruction to 100.

The Shivering Isle main quest is quite fun... I just had some very exciting moments last night. :D

Spoiler :
They force you to take drugs, then you end up running like a mad man in a dungeon, looking for your next fix! You get more and more stat penalty as you get withdrawal symptoms, and I was playing a relatively new character, so I was severely crippled... very painful!
Spoiler :
And they bring a whole ruin down on your head! Very exciting... it's really the first time in Oblivion that I have to run for my dear life.
Spoiler :
This felt like fighting Mr. Smith's legion of clones...

Indeed, they were my favorite moments too. I hope future expansions include more of these type of moments.

I just finished the SI main quest...
Spoiler :
The last battle is a bit anti-climatic though. :( Merely two obelisks (easily taken care of), and The Prince of Order himself isn't that strong. He should have some special abilities and spells to wreck havoc, er, cross that, wreck order all around. :ack:
The outcome is very much like all other factions... you get to the top, you get a title (which most NPCs don't respect), and receive money and item once in a while as reward.
