The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

You just need to max destruction magic and max your intelligence. Then you maybe be able to cast it. How much damage it does?
It's this one:

Oblivion393.jpg

My character's intelligence is 105 and destruction skill is 66. I doubt I can cast it even with everything max. :( Will let you know if I ever get to cast it...

EDIT: My character has 310 Magicka. This includes 50 pts from Mage birthsign and 50 pts from an enchanted cuirass.

It seems a bit strong(at what level did you finish the quest? I was like lv 1 or 2 so my spell did 6 damage ), anyway try to max yer destruction and see if it helps.

I missed that spell for both of my two characters... I was afraid betraying the Mage Guild will deny me access of the Arcane University.

I later learnt about it in UESP... and so my pure mage character will get it! :D

Where does one get this spell? Seems intresting....

As for your question TF, just keep practiceing a Destruction spell that you can use, the more you use Destruction the lower the Magika required for higher spells.

It's the Chorrol recommendation quest.

I got that spell at vey high level, 30+.

It doesn't look impossible to cast it now. My destruction skill is 80 and that spell costs about 800 magicka. :) At 100 skill that spell probably costs 400 or 500. It should be fun to unleash that spell. :D

Definitely get that spell for your mage, kcwong. :) I don't think you can find a more powerful spell anywhere. It seems you need to be at level 26 to get the max power spell.

For your other two characters, it might still be possible to get it. Did you just give the Finger of the Mountain book to Teekeeus at the Chorrol mage guild? If yes, you could talk to Erana and she will still give you the reward if you steal the book back from Teekeeus. You can find the book in a chest in Teekeeus 's room. That's what I did.

But wait till level 26 to get that spell? That I won't be able to enchant a thing before that... that'd be a very serious problem for a mage! (who would like lots of shield gear)

Or is it possible to finish the quest but don't retrieve the reward until level 26?

For my other two characters, well, they don't like the feral mages. They talked to the gal again and told her for forget about it... now she won't talk to them at all. So even if I stole the book I don't think I can get the spell.

Not sure. Try it with your high level characters. I would say it's possible since Erana always hangs out outside the Chorrol mages guild. So you can get the recommendation early and come back for the spell later.

Another thing you could try is download the Quest Award Leveling mod. What it does is as you level up, the quest awards you already received will level as well, so you can complete quests anytime you want.

Lots and lots of fortify intelligence potions.

Hey, it worked in morrowind, it'll work here.

I have something like 300+ magicka and I'm at Level 24. One of the perks of being a high elf. :D

Or you can try spell-chaining... which when used to excess will break Oblivion like 100% chameleon, and like power-alchemy in Morrowind.

There's no way to break a game like hw morrowind coud be broken.

Thanks, 200000 speed potion, you crashed my comp! :badcomp:

I started a new character and ran her through the tutorial dungeon.

Khajiit female
Illusion
Blade (a means to attack when I'm out of magicka)
Heavy Armor (all the really nice armor/shield are heavy ones)
Restoration, Alteration, Destruction, Mysticism
Sign of the Apprentice (the weakness should give me a challenge)

I used to play in third-person view exclusively, switching to first-person view only momentarily for an arrow or spell.

But since it's going to be a mage, I forced myself to use first-person view exclusively. And with the Khajiit Night Eye Toggle mod, I had the Night Eye on all the way through the tutorial.

When I was out of the tutorial dungeon... I felt dizzy. :cringe: I stopped playing but the dizziness continued for another 5 minutes.

The last first-person-view-only game I played is Hexen 2... then it's all 3rd person view games (Tomb Raider, Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption and Bloodlines). I played Morrowind in third-person view too. When in 3rd-person view, I can play all day without having any uncomfortable feeling.

So I guess I'm out of practice... maybe it's the wobbling when my character moves, or perhaps it's the blue tint for such a long time...

Looks like I'll have to check out that third-person crosshair mod now...

Kcwong: Its not just you but I only experience that dizzy feeling when playing this game in first person. I play a few other first person games and am fine but something about this one, gives me a headache in that view.

I on the other hand is very comfortable in third person... I can judge distance just fine. I guess it's all those training I got in Tomb Raider...

You can finish the mages guild recommendation part of the quest, and leave retrieving the spell to whenever you want. I've already talked to her (after giving the book initially to the Mages guild), and she has given me instructions to attain that spell. I still haven't done it yet, so I don't have the spell as of yet. I've been waiting to level up to level 25 or so prior to getting the spell. I completed the Mages guild recommendation part of that quest when I was level 3 (I'm up to 21 now).

That happened to me too, I was SO disappointed when I got that so much rumoured and boasted 'mighty' spell, that had 6 shock damage at 6 feet.

Or, more likely, I was excited about it becouse I was so new with mage character and had no idea what was a strong spell.

The movements in third person seem strange to me. IMO Oblivion is meant to be played in first person. It's nothing like Tomb Raider where you always want to play in third person even if you could do otherwise. ;)

I always play in first person too. I switch to third person sometimes to run around in the world and take screenshots. :)

Some time ago I tried to play Half Life 2 demo but gave up after several minutes because I felt dizzy. Thankfully it's not the case with Oblivion.
