The Impressions of NESing

And as the Byzantine Empire in NES2 VI, at least.

Actually, andis doesn't strike me as a world conqueror...
If you followed JalNES, you would think differently...

I got forgotten....arhgh.hh
I forgot you? Will add immediately!

No, that fits in within my opinion. He does not deliberately attempt to conquer the world - instead, he is an opportunistic landgrabber. Its a bit different.

Compare Friedrich II and Hitler, or Napoleon III and his uncle. andis-1 is always the former of the two (funny thought, though - is there an andis-2 somewhere, and is he a world-conqueror?).

O_O

They friggin stole MY NAME!!! RAAAAAARRRGHHH!!!! Goddamn now I WILL sue them!

*eyesrolling*

Don't worry Panda- you and Symphony are the only other level fives. And yes, I realize das isn't the best person here at everything. Thats why I consider das the middle "best"- with Panda and Sypmh on the other sides.

Bah I do that in practiaclly every NES...

Well they also keep their empires together ;].

~Darkening~: Either he's planning on a really high level, or he's making it up as he goes along.

Gah- I plan everything. Literally. I actually spend time writting things down on paper, plotting, and just jotting everything down from potential diplo to stories. Only 1/5 of the stories I plan actual make it to the forum, btw.

Symphony_D, Kentharu, Luckymoose, and J-eps added.

Andis as Frederick II? No. Frederick specifically stated, "If I were to have Silesia, I would be content." He was not an opportunist; he merely desired building up his nation through a very specific set of goals. Andis is more Napoleon.

J-eps: Sorry. I'm trying to be as truthful as I can. I'm grading people on their wrinting and playing ability, if you're wondering. If anything, J-eps you seem like a high level 1 right now. It seems to me that you just need some writing lessons (what grade level are you in?) and some more experience and you'd be good to go. I haven't seen any of your orders, so I wouldn't know.

One of the few new kids that I'm actually looking forward to having more contact with ;].

Yeah, I placed myself here too, and DEFINATELY need more experience. Writing hasn't really ever been my strong point, and I need to work on it, one of the things I am trying to do here. This summer proved exactly how much I need to practice writing (correspondance/internet courses are unfortunately ALL writing), and as I have another one coming up soon, ... I also like the truthfulness. I hate it when people give really high positions to everyone just so they don't piss them off. No way to improve but NES, and thats what Im planning on doing.

Birdjaguar: ... Still a little too credulous, but that will change...
Are you telling me that people lie in NES dioplomacy? Say it ain't so.

It ain't so!

:p

Any other ideas for ranking, or are we united in believing that we should end this discussion, bury it, and nuke the site?

Although a ranking is a sort of interesting idea (kind of like a Ladder in online RTS games) it's too competitive for NESing, really. Carrying on behavior from previous games or acting for (blatantly obvious) OOC reasons is generally disapproved of, and it would tend to promote ganging up on the "leaders" simply to bring them down. If it was done, it would make sense to collate results from past NESes, but there's not much reason to do it.

"Target painting" would be the chief problem, I think. Just to fuel that fire (and some others) I'd like to say I've never lost a war. ;) NK and Panda did get me to sign peace with reparations once though.

Whew! Thanks.

To rank well, you need a scoring system. For that you would need to have a way to score players in games (do you include unfinished games?) or a way to score players' contributions to play whether they win or lose: orders, creativity, interaction etc. All very subjective stuff.

Technically I don't believe I've lost a war against a PC nation, but it's hard to keep track.

And you were lucky; I was in a good mood. :p

Just wait a few turns in JalNES. Egypt is a PC nation.

here, probably means nothing to anyone what the noob thinks but heres what i've compiled from those i've NESed with

-Cuivenien, struck me as a wet blanket during Neo Nes, yet was the level headed member of the alliance, kept me from making stupid mistakes in my virgin game

-Lord_Iggy, did an excellent job of expansion for his nation, far bolder and more confident than me, yet his nation survived the same war I was destroyed in, so i could stand to learn from him

-Darkening, good NESer, took 2 or 3 nations to destory him in HQnes, thats gotta mean something

-Harlequin, good mod, however quite busy, but never too busy to answer my questions, considering i asked him some of the stupidest things to get an edge I think hes quite patient and is more than willing to help this noob out

-Stalin006, good at keeping a NES interesting but the problem is that it dies just as it does so...

-Symphony D., never nesed with him but I have asked him questions and he was extremely helpful, I really learned quite a bit of how i currently send orders due to his teachings

-The Farow, quite a player, took a gamble to destroy me and it paid off yet he didnt rub his victory in my face, quite honorable

-Justokre, the only NESer to make it onto my "DO NOT TRUST" list, screwed me in every deal i made with him, and tried to make me screw a few of my allies, to no gain

IIRC, wasn't there an old NES where you were the Sea Tribe or something and you lost a great empire to neighboring rabble? :mischief:

Haven't lost yet; your overconfidence is astounding.

I may yet pull something out of my rear. :p

Andis is my secret weapon!

Oh? Well I'm performing a demon-ritual to call up the spirits of NESers that have left us to aid my cause! :p
