This is a thought that has been revolving in my mind for some time now :

Can human constructs , ideas and ideologies , ever completely grasp or explain reality ? Or is man forever doomed to seeing the world through inadequate glasses of his own making ? Does not the reality of reality diminish by comaprison all ideals and approximations of it ?

All language is metaphor.

God is ineffable.

Even the words of your questions are inadequate to the task.

I dont think we can know what reality is while we're in these bodies. Human brains and sense organs are designed to allow us to function and reproduce on a small rock.

I had a similar question: can a human brain intuitively understand the how of human consciousness? By this, I mean, can we learn enough about human consciousness to explain it (probably), but can one person understand the entire field?

I read somewhere that it would be impossible for a person to ever completely understand their brain. A human created computer could do it but then it would have to be so complex we couldn't understand how it worked.:mischief:

Of course it was fiction so who knows?

I'm optimistic, we have made alot progress so far in explaining the physical properties of our mysterious universe, and we have been able to manipulate the matter before us to make the most out of it. We just need to input more of our free time into trying to explain the inexplicable.

Who's to know really? I think the only thing we can be sure of is that we can never be sure about anything.

I think we just have to make a choice, how society will perceive reality will be what we choose to follow.

I don't know for sure, but I would think that following the scientific method would be the one that would yield the most positive results, perhaps.

Probably. Again, I don't think we can ever be 100% sure, but we have to choose based on probability. The scientific method does seem to be the best method for these kind of things.

I know, however, that there can be facts that we can be sure of. We can also predict exact outcomes of future events, based on past observations.

Well, if one of these "Theories of Everything" pan out; we might be okay. Then it's just systems theories.

Veritass hit it quite nicely imho.

I believe that cheerful vandal Friedrich Nietzsche once said...

“All things are subject to interpretation, whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.”

The Scientific Method is a but a method of interpretation.
