The last challenge -- Team game -- Deity trial

Plastic Ducks! Plastic Ducks!

...what, it's not chosen by acclamation?

Anyhow, I agree that's some scary team roster :)

Well.. I'm ok with Plastic Ducks.

I'm ok with Cool Buddy too, I guess.. just 'cause it's cheesy.. but it doesn't sound as much like a teamname, I admit.

Yeah.. Cool Buddies would be better... still like Plastic Ducks more, I think.

Mongooses is fun, simple and looks very wrong :)

oh yeah, and I'm not sure I'm very helpful with this naming thing. How do you want it do be decided? Vote or 100% aggreement?

Plastic Ducks sound like a great and unstoppable team:)

Hello and lots of thanks for proposing me to play with you :)
I take it as a great honour !

I'll be the small fries, I'm afraid. But I'll do my best and I'm sure I'll improve like I never hoped I would, just discussing with you and watching your plays.

As far as the team name is concerned, there's no doubt the Plastic Ducks is the best !:goodjob:
Alright, I'm biased. I say so 'cause it reminds me of Plastic People, one of my favorite songs from Zappa (Zappa freak, here). Don't know about Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention ? TBBYNHIYL : The Best band you never heard in your life !

So.. everyone likes Plastic Ducks? Settled? :)

Everyone but Duckweed (no vote yet) has voiced in favor of Plastic Ducks. He said he wouldn't suggest a team name but vote.
Unless he strongly objects, I think Plastic Ducks gets it.

Looks like everyone favors Plastic Ducks. I love those cute pictures too. :) Let's sign up for this unstoppable team!

Dhoomstriker would like to join with his friend. I'm a little surprise that he has not posted here.

Some issues are worth of discussion before we get to the game strategy.

In case that you have not played any BOTM or SGOTM before (I know most of you did), you might want to make sure that your computer can run the BUFFY properly by testing it with the current BOTM 28 -- possible side effect -- you gain confidence!

Although there are good rules of playing SGOTM -- please read the 4 sticky threads there carefully, as a brand new team, we'd better make them clear so that we can feel comfortable to play together. From my limited experience of playing SGs. I think there are a few issues that are most important to make a SG running smoothly.

1. Active participation -- Your contribution to every set is important. Although everyone might have real life issues sometimes, it's courteous to notify the team of you absence.

2. Plan of playing-- The spirit of SG is to play the game following the consensus of the team decision. Therefore the player who is UP should post a clear plan for discussion. I don't believe that anyone can be right at everything. It's very normal that your plan will be modified somewhat by the team. Of course one may propose more points to try to convince others. However once the consensus is formed, it's necessary to play according to the final team decision even you believe yours is best. Please be polite on the discussion and don't get upset if game is played in a different way from your preference.
Questions: what should be proposed in the plan and how many turns is proper for a set?

3. Timing -- The most popular rule is 24/48, which means that you need to download the save and post a "got it" message in 24 hours once last player upload the save, otherwise you are automatically skipped. I think 24 for "got it" is good, but 48 hours to finish the play is too tense as the discussion may take longer.
Your preference and suggestion?

Last , we need a captain who can be strict with the Timing. There are other works for captain, such as writing a summary, and checking for divergence. Allow me to escape this since there are better candidate here.:)

Sorry gang. Thank you for the invitation, but I have chosen to sign up with a different team that is seriously lacking in members. That will mean one more team in the competition, instead of potentially overloading your team with members. Having more competition will hopefully give you even more incentive to try harder and become the #1 team!

For what it's worth, I like the team name, Plastic Ducks! :goodjob:

I will caution you that if you do play BOTM 28, be sure to keep all discussions about the game to the appropriate threads in the GOTM forum. Since the SGOTM includes all of the rules of the GOTM plus some additional rules, it would be wise to famliarize yourselves with the GOTM rules, anyway.

Here are a couple of related GOTM links to the rules and such, in case you have never played a GOTM before:
Welcome to the C-IV Game of the Month
Game of the Month: Summary and Overview

Also, although you cannot currently discuss BOTM 28 here, as it is an ongoing game, you are free to play and discuss BOTM 27 in any thread, since that game has been completed. BOTM 27 used the same BUFFY version (3.19.003), so it is just as good of a test, without the chance of you breaking GOTM rules. Breaking GOTM rules is not something that you want to do, as it could put your participation in the SGOTM in jeopardy, before the game even began!

Thanks for the theme song, Dhoomstriker.

Anyone volunteers to lead the team and the discussion? If I were better at writing, I'd have tried it.
Is nomination needed?

^I have expected you'd volunteer.

I think Kossin is a very good candidate. dingding is also good at writing, but not an industrious leader.;)

Come on, guys, let's move on -- choose your captain and propose your preferred rule.

BUFFY works in my computer but under some error codes. I have to disable all the effects of BUFFY but it works on the whole:p

Questions: what should be proposed in the plan and how many turns is proper for a set?
We can discuss the tech paths, city positions and unit building, but the most important as I see it is the diplo strategy. This game underlies the relationship no matter whether we want to win a diplo victory or a culture one. (well the UN victory is apparently the best choice of the game cause it's earlier than a culture one)

OB, Tech trade, city gifts, EP targets... Need to be discussed. And we can't predict what kind of arrogant demands AIs may demand so we should have the same understanding which AI should be pleased and which one are to be ignored for the moment.

It's an Epic game. It's about 15 turns a tech so 15-20 turns a set is nice. No need to fix a strict rule about this. I think our members know when to stop to discuss.

3. I notice that we are in quite different time zones. For example kossin is in Canada and I'm in France, there is 5-9 hours of difference. There can be in average 2 rounds of discussion in 48 hours (suppose we are free in the evening), but sometimes actually 1.5 rounds. I think 72h to finish (2 rounds of discussion + play) is good and every one can of course try to submit in 48h.

The last SGOTM lasted for 4 months. This one will do the same I think. I think we can probably win the game in 330t-410t (from my exp on Deity on Normal speed * 1.5), so we don't need to worry about the time.

Last , we need a captain who can be strict with the Timing. There are other works for captain, such as writing a summary, and checking for divergence. Allow me to escape this since there are better candidate here.:)
Personally I think you are the best candidate to take this job. ;) in the name of Plastic Ducks!
