The many questions-not-worth-their-own-thread question thread XIX

Hi, as a new user I have some questions.

1. Why are the threads marked with Roman numerals?

2. Why don't you have fancy signatures? (pictures I mean :D)

3. When will I get a signature?

4. Should I have asked this somewhere else?

1. Serial threads, it's a tradition to start over certain threads when they hit 1000 posts.

2. Because they're annoying.

3. Not sure, 30 posts me thinks?

4. FAQ down in site feedback ;)

So.. I've been hanging out with one of my friend's ex-girlfriends at this music thing every Tuesday, with other people..

Is it wrong for me to like her :\.. I feel bad

It's not wrong, you just don't want to end up creating a situation where it's awkward for her or your friend. Do they have any particular grudges against each other?

Out of respect for your friend don't do anything pal. You will open up a whole can of worms.

(I assume "like" in this context means romanticly)

Who cares that she is your friend's ex? If he gets offended he's stupid anyways.

I think you might be guilty of a sweeping statement there, Synsensa.

Well, you've got to admit that it would at least be 'intriguing' that you're best friend would have interest (I assume that's what "like" means, in this case.) in your ex-girlfriend soon after the breakup. (I'm assuming it's soon after, otherwise, I see no problem.)

Not really. I don't own the woman, why would I get upset?

That's part of the secret to understanding humanity, I suppose.

Things like this aren't always rational. Some people will react in emotional ways and if our hero values his friendship and wants to avoid DRAMA! He should steer clear. Anyway I believe there is a 1:1 ratio of men to woman :P so he should be able to find another he likes.

As with all good social questions the answer is: it depends. It depends on if your friend broke up with the girl or the girl broke up with your friend. It depends if he still likes her on some level. It depends if the breakup was amicable or not. It depends on how you prioritize your relationships.

It depends on too much, all of which you may not know. The only good answer here is to man up and talk to your friend about it.

Whats a typical holiday (vacation) destination for Americans? A few examples please.

For those without international/long distance vacation budgets and around the Chicagoland area - Galena(IL), The Wisconsin Dells, The Ozarks, camping/fishing in general, bed and breakfasts, etc.

In Minnesota at least, going to a cabin is very popular.

Florida; Myrtle Beach; Florida; Atlantic City, New Jersey; Ocean City, Maryland; and Florida. Oh, and did I mention Florida?

Of course, there are those who think that "vacation" means "freezing to death", so Minnesota and Alaska are also destinations.

I'm looking outside right now, and I don't see anyone freezing to death in the alleged 'frozen tundra' of Minnesota.

I work outside during the Illinois summer. It gets hot. I'd rather vacation in the cold than in the heat. Makes sense to me?
