Hmmm this is helping my hatred of Liverpool turn into pity.
What do LP fans despise the most, being hated or pitied? ;)

Why is hope scary to a depressed person?

You're afraid that what you hope for won't play out right.

And if it does play out the next event could knock you back down.

I addition, you have a general fear of change. Even if the change is a clear improvement, in many cases people will still resist it.

Why didn't the people in Star Wars just coat their ships in reflective mirrors?;)

That's what they did in the distant past, with reflective armor made up of materials like kiirium. Right around the same time as the Republic was first created, the Tionese pirate/emperor Xim the Despot used his control of major kiirium deposits to build a vast war machine that was only narrowly stopped by the Hutts in the three Battles of Vontor. But by ~8000-7000 years before the Clone Wars, the proliferation of baradium explosives like the so-called proton torpedo, improvements in radiation shielding, and the development of more portable deflector shields made kiirium essentially useless for space vessels.

Dachs, do you also have an extensive knowledge of fictional history as well? :crazyeye:

Not really. Mostly just Star Wars and LotR.

Oh, nice. I was wondering if their was an actual explanation as to why it didn't work other than "they figured out how to stop it from working". Cool that their is.

That's pretty easy. Ask me about politics, science, theology, most parts of history that I'm not acquainted with, the so-called social sciences, philosophy, the overwhelming majority of literature, certain kinds of pop culture, or sports that aren't football or basketball.

I was going snark something about the topic of the comforts of womankind, but history is actually pretty sexy.

Why do so many casual fans of sport teams think they know better for the team than the coach of that team, and often shout at the coach while watching the game on TV?

Because it's fun, because they're inebriated, or because they are LSU fans. There's a Venn Diagram for you.

Same reason they criticise everybody else for decisions. The vast majority of people think they are smarter than everyone else.

In addition to what was already said, there are plenty of times when coaches make objectively bad decisions, and some fans are able to identify these.
