IQ is meaningless and that book is as well. You don't seriously believe that an average Equatorial Guinean has an IQ of 59, making him or her (according to IQ) mentally ********?

If it has mercury, make sure the room is well ventilated. Do NOT do anything that could vaporize (heat up) the mercury, like vacuuming it, as the vaporous form could poison you. Try to deposit it in a sealable plastic bag and send to your local hazardous waste disposal facility.

If it doesn't have mercury and just uses alcohol, just mop it up and be careful with the shards.

Well I was thinking to put an inside-out plastic bag over the hand and try to get it into that being careful of course. I locked the cat in the bathroom (it broke in the kitchen).
