When will it be acceptable to make jokes about the shooting? What counts as "too soon"?

You've just shot me with that question .... idk

Is it possible to visit the spot on the Reichstag where the Soviet flag was planted?

Probably not, seeing as it's on the roof.

The Bundestag roof is free to visit (though queues are long). There's that whole glass dome thing, which is the main attraction. But assuming you're talking about where the flag was waved from, I don't think you can get that close to the edge...

I don't know. Tell us the joke you have in mind and see if we laugh. If not, then either it's too soon, or the joke is not funny. And you'd probably never know for sure which.

Why am I getting the feeling that one of the reasons the glass dome was built was to distract people who wanted to see the Soviet flag spot? :p

Well that's kind of disappointing. Another query then. Can I visit the room where the Treaty of Versailles was signed?

I thought Hitler had that blown up.

EDIT: Did a little due diligence to make sure...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glade_of_the_Armistice

Following their victory in the Battle of France, the Germans set out to humiliate the vanquished French by forcing them to sign the Second Armistice at Compiègne in the Glade, the same place that the Germans had signed the Armistice 22 years earlier. Adolf Hitler personally visited the Glade to participate in the ceremony. William Shirer reported on his reaction to seeing the monument:

"Through my glasses I saw the Führer stop, glance at the [Alsace-Lorraine] monument.... Then he read the inscription on the great granite block in the center of the clearing: Here on the eleventh of November 1918 succumbed the criminal pride of the German empire . . . vanquished by the free peoples which it tried to enslave." I look for the expression on Hitler's face. I am but fifty yards from him and see him through my glasses as though he were directly in front of me. I have seen that face many times at the great moments of his life. But today! It is afire with scorn, anger, hate, revenge, triumph. He steps off the monument and contrives to make even this gesture a masterpiece of contempt. He glances back at it contemptuous, angry. . . . Suddenly, as though his face were not giving quite complete expression to his feelings, he throws his whole body into harmony with his mood. He swiftly snaps his hands on his hips, arches his shoulders, plants his feet wide apart. It is a magnificent gesture of defiance, of burning contempt....[1]

The Alsace-Lorraine Memorial was dynamited three days later. The railway carriage in which both armistices were signed was carried back to Germany as a war prize and later burned in order to prevent its recapture by the Allies. The Alsace-Lorraine Memorial was rebuilt following the war.

Ah damn, I remember now. It was a train car, wasn't it? Never mind then.

I'm fairly sure the train car was for the armistice, and the Treaty of Versailles was signed in the Hall of Mirrors, which is one of the main attractions of Versailles, and yes, you can visit it.

Ok, I'm trying to use the search by criteria on the SIMBAD astronomy database, and quite frankly,, the search by coordinates/region is PISSING ME THE HELL OFF!! [pissed] Everything I do results in a god damn apache tomcat error and everything else gives me a bleeping sign missing error. How do I figure which numbers go where?

This is the code:
Code:
 plx <= 0.7 &  plxqual != 'E' & sptypes >= 'G' & sptypes < 'K' & splum = 'V' & spqual != 'E' & region(circle, icrs, j2000, -17, +67.5, 5d)
I'm trying to search the area around 4h 30m right ascension, -17 degrees declination.

And for the love of god, DON'T TELL ME YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER AND DON'T QUESTION WHY I'M DOING THIS AND JUST GIVE ME THE BLEEPING ANSWER!!!!!! [pissed]

And I'm posting here cuz no one reads the science questions thread.

I have no idea even how to read that code block.

I know the answer but I'M NOT TELLING YOU UNLESS YOU TELL ME WHY YOU'RE DOING THIS.

Actually I don't, just illustrating that a forum really cant function that way. You can't decide the whos, hows or what you get, you can't trade what you've got, you just contribute when you want and be thankful for the contributions of others.

P.S. since I'm in a sanctimonious mood due to the lack of repercussions (being end of the world and all), assuming someone has the answer then it means you're only angry because you don't know something. If you were banned from the info, had it stolen from you etc etc then that's different, but  when ?? That ain't gonna work out too well PE :)

Does anyone know of an application, say on Android, that allows you to create your own flash cards? I find they are a great way to learn and I would love the flexibility of being able to make my own through my phone.
