The Official CivFanatics Forum Sim City 2000 City Download thread!!!

How do you even locate your save files? I think this might actually be pretty simple, but for some reason I can't figure out how to do it nor find any info on it.

I have SC2000 Special Edition for Windows. The DOS version allowed me to do so, but the Windows version seems to hide these files. Is there any way around this? First and foremost, I'd like to know that my save files are handy and not subject to destruction when the game is lost. Thanks!

Same folder, but I can't locate them with Windows explorer. And when trying to copy them from the Simcity Open menu, Windows claims that the files can't be found even though they can be opened in Simcity. I think they are probably encrypted or something. I don't understand why Maxis had to do this with this version, but they did. Is there a way to decrypt or reveal the save files?

That's strange. I definitely can't do it, though. The files don't appear in the folder and don't exist as far as Windows is concerned. Only Simcity can access them. I'll look into other directories, but I'm not positive I'll find anything.

No, but I found out what is wrong. It seems to be a problem with Vista's Program Files folder. I saved the cities to the desktop and I could see the files. Anywhere except in Program Files, I think. Thanks, anyway.

A few years too late (I hadn't played SC2000 for more than 10 years), but here are some cities I made recently:

Gotham City - Hilly city, based very loosely on the most recent movie.

Fortaleza del Diablo - Terraced city (my Spanish is rudimentary so forgive any strange expression).

Shangri-La - Valley city, based loosely on the legend.

Atlantis - Based as closely as possible on Plato's description.

All these cities are made from scratch without SCURKing, so they should appear quite natural. Enjoy!

And, oh, I'm currently building a representation of the Palm Jumeirah. I don't know if it will work, though.

Long delayed, I wasn't sure if I wanted to replace one of those cities in the selection, but here they are:

Palm Jumeirah - Based on one of the artificial islands built in Dubai.

Canyon Creek - A city built on American canyons.

Core Prime - 4181 hydro plants. Enough said.

Wall - Based loosely on Stardust the movie; a modernized version, of course.

Again, no SCURKING was involved. The only exception was when I couldn't get the seaport to develop in Canyon Creek due to the rivers being too small, and purple zones with no buildings looked ugly :(

in the wall city how did you get trees on water? ive been meening to find out how2 do it, i usedto know how but i forgot.

Play around with the sea level in edit new map mode. I think the game is bugged here because, as you know, shallow streams and waters (the ones that are only on the surface) are wiped out if you raise the sea level over them. If you lower the sea level and then raise it again, the game half thinks that there is no more water there when there actually is, so you can place trees over it.

Do you like my cities? ;)

I'm in the process of making a city, however, I got the military base option, but it won't develop. I've reloaded over thousands of times and the airforce base still appears as a runway, the Army Base does not spawn anything and I haven't got a Navy Base or a Silo yet...
So what might be the problem?
