The Official CivFanatics Forum Sim City 2000 City Download thread!!!

and ya your cities rock!

Thanks :)

I like the layout of Hicksland. Did you use SCURK? If you did, you should try making it from scratch. Would be very interesting.

I'm in the process of making a city, however, I got the military base option, but it won't develop. I've reloaded over thousands of times and the airforce base still appears as a runway, the Army Base does not spawn anything and I haven't got a Navy Base or a Silo yet...
So what might be the problem?

IIRC, that is a known bug. Did you try providing power to the base?

Naval base requires a coast, and silo happens if your city is very mountainous. The latter is cool (I haven't seen it yet) but useless, since it doesn't give you the summon military option.

what you do is once a military base has spawned, go into skurk, get power to the base, make afew military buildings(dont go overboard, jsut afew military parking lots and a wachtower) take my suburbia city for example( http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=182656&d=1215823084 ) the base in their was an airforce base, i developed it alil and it then will grow on its own. and nice city :goodjob:

Thanks :)

thanks! and no i didnt use skurk at all. I did use the money cheat afew times and the spawn a military base cheat but other than that this city was completely natural!

ive never heard of that bug, and ive been trying to get army and navy bases but all i ever seem to get are air force bases nomater how i lay out the cities terrain. can you make some example cities of like what will spawn what type of military base? i think afew years back i got a navy base once but i dont know how i did. thanks.

Coastline usually gets a naval base, flat = Airforce, hilly=military, mountain= missile silo, which are least desirable.

That is already unnatural :p

Seriously, try making it from scratch if you have time. You'd get a really natural look with the normal limitations. You've already got really nice terrain there. Plus you'd know you are good city planner :goodjob:

One of my cities from the first pack, Fortaleza del Diablo, got a naval base when I tried accepting at 60k population. But I didn't plan to have a military base so I loaded the save immediately before that. As for silos, I never got them. I think you need really mountainous terrain, on which it would be a challenge to get to the 60k mark in the first place.

I tried all sorts of terrain, but all I get is army and airforce bases. I made a mountainous map and kept using the base cheat, either it was airforce or army.

I have a large coast for City Name Here, but no Navy Base spawns.
I don't want to SCURK a base, because a SCURKed airforce base has no runways and it is considered cheating to fix a city's problems with SCURK.

If it's only moderately mountainous you'll probably get an army base. You need really quite moutainous terrain for silos. And it might still have a random factor, I'm not too sure.

Again, it might be random. But I think you can help by making it difficult to zone the base in places other than the coast. My last city that got a naval base had a terrain that was sloping down to the sea, and most of the flatter areas had been developed. There wasn't a large space left to zone except near the coast, so I got base on the coast. I didn't want it, though, since I never remember getting a proper base built playing the Windows version of SC2000. I might have seen a few playing the DOS version.

I wouldn't think that scurking in silly things like that is cheating. Sometimes it's just the weird game mechanics, and ultimately you don't want an ugly part in the city unless you're just playing for the challenge. And runways do usually develop, though with nothing else.

Does anyone have screenshots of all the developed bases, that isn't SCURKed?

I used the Gilmartin cheat to test base spawns. I used Edit New Map and it was a really mountainous map. Hills were at maximum.

If there is no room for a base, they just say "SALUTE" and go elsewhere. I had a coast available and all they gave me was an airforce base.

Question: How many units does a Navy Base provide? I know Airforce provides two and Army provides 4 or 5 units.

Well, I'm not saying don't leave any room for a base, just leave room near the coast.

I've no idea. I've only ever seen 1 or 2.

I did leave room for a navy base on the coast, but the airforce keeps taking it, even annoying me by building directly on the coast, taking a few squares on the water.
But that isn't a navy base, it's specifically a Airforce base.

Really? That's amazing. It should have been a naval base. I don't know the real details of how these things are decided.

Yeah, those damned military guys. "Gee, this guy has a coast!"
"I have a cunning plan!"
"What is it Baldrick?"
"Let's bring the airforce there!"
"Brilliant plan Baldrick. Although I did see some hills there. I have a better plan. Let's put the Army there!"

I've seen your city. I quite like it. I don't manage the sparse city layout very well myself :)

But how do you afford that microwave plant with an income of $12 a year?

new city i made...

this one realy is 100% legit this time! lol

only thing thats not legit is i went into skurk after i was done building the city and made is so every free lot is realy dense with trees! :goodjob:
