The "OMG! Look what happened in DoC!" Thread

I've finally went over to the Dark Side and installed 1.10. Actually, from test American and Prussian runs with a couple of changes, it's fairly plausible and good:

China is really huge, and Russia is really screwed up.

Turkey really rocks in the last screenshot. For some reason, in 1.9 when I disabled the Seljuks, Turkey was often weak, but it seems that they weren't hindered much by it in 1.10.

In RiseandFall.py delete or, for safety, comment out all the lines between

tSeljukAreaTL = (78, 37)
tSeljukAreaBR = (85, 46)
targetCityList = []
targetPlayerList = []
dummy, lCityPlotList = utils.squareSearch(tSeljukAreaTL, tSeljukAreaBR, utils.cityPlots, -1)
for tPlot in lCityPlotList:
x, y = tPlot
city = gc.getMap().plot(x, y).getPlotCity()
if city.getOwner() in [iIndependent, iIndependent2]:
utils.flipCity(tPlot, False, True, iSeljuks, ())
...

and

...
if iGameTurn == getTurnForYear(1230 + utils.getSeed()%10 + 3): #Linkman226- Mongol Conquerors for Seljuks
if pSeljuks.isAlive() and utils.getHumanID() != iMongolia:
tPlot = utils.getFreeNeighborPlot((83, 42))
utils.makeUnitAI(con.iMongolKeshik, iMongolia, tPlot, UnitAITypes.UNITAI_ATTACK_CITY, 2)
utils.makeUnitAI(con.iHorseArcher, iMongolia, tPlot, UnitAITypes.UNITAI_ATTACK_CITY, 2)
utils.makeUnitAI(con.iTrebuchet, iMongolia, tPlot, UnitAITypes.UNITAI_ATTACK_CITY, 1)

(including the lines I quoted).

What else did you change?

Thank you very much!

Seljuks help Ottomans ... they collapse the Middle East into independents to make them easy to conquer. All of their units either go Mongol, in which case they go into invading other areas, or straight to the Ottomans.

Yesterday I loaded a Brazilian game, 3000BC start:

Austria is HUGE! And it's solid!
Prussia was conquered by Spain (see the two enclaves in the austrian territory) and Greece stayed alive trough all the game.

The vassals of Austria.

Mughals also had a massive empire and controlled China, but they collapsed the turn after the brazilian spawn. (probably because of the indian respawn)

Well, regarding Turkey, I've made Janissaries strength 10, +50% vs. Mounted and gave the AI additional 3 Janissaries to compensate for the Seljuk removal.

All Turkeys in my screenshots didn't need the help of Seljuks :p However, see the previous sentence.

...where's Prussia?

On the other hand, that Turkish start is mildly depressing:

All terrain revealed via WorldBuilder. Poland didn't spawn because I set its spawn chance to 1/2 in GlobalDefinesAlt (while Tibet is set to 0). Yes, these are all the cities in China, the rest had been razed. Also, someone, put "India proper" out of her misery. And Scandinavians didn't build any settlers again.

On the other hand, we have the Persian Empire coexisting with a moderately strong Arabia.

Who is the country on the falkland isles?
It looks like Tibet to me.

Don't get your hopes up. It's England. Minimap semi-transparency over water makes it look darker.

England is not that unlikely to found Stanley.

Independents are the first to discover Liberalism - in 728. They have Athens, Vibo Valentia, a Croatian city, and I took Constantinople from them recently (Rome was barb). No more indy cities. Rome and Byzantines were dead when I spawned (I'm Vikings), and may have been for a long time, but... it's still pretty crazy :crazyeye: Latest SVN.

- Unrelated, Rome built Volubilis 1E of Marrakech, probably one of the most stupid plots possible to pick. Or it might have been Carthage and the city then renamed upon Roman conquest. Dunno.
