The "OMG! Look what happened!" Thread

Yes, but not normally until after they have crushed the Babs. The barbs normally build Tushpa, so they might have captured it, the other one, I dunno.

Phanagoria was founded or conquered from the Greeks.

My theory is they founded it after their settler was moved north from Anatolia, because of Bab cultural expansion.

Anyone ever seen Persia expanding in this direction before?

Persia won't typically expand north using settlers outside of the Samarkand area, but it will happily conquer cities just about anywhere to the north of their spawn. I've seen Persia conquer Seoul (Korea) and Kazan (barbarian spawned city near Ural mountains) often enough. If that city was formerly Greek end either captured by barbs or declared independence from Greece, that would be the most likely explanation for how Persia happened to now have the city.

I've seen the Arabs expand into Siberia after they conquered/colonized Persia in the 600 AD scenario. If the city is called Khufa or Khurasan you know they are outside their historical (green) area.

The new patch's recoding to make the Arabs more afro-centric has had the effect of making them build allot of redundant cities in egypt, like, 1-tile-between-each-other redundant.

My vassal's workers, building roads for me:

That's not uncommon because they like to connect cities for trade networks. I actually usually build railroads for my vassals before they know railroad if I have spare workers.
I remember seeing some unruly union workers destroying my railroads and making them roads again though...

just something very lol happened :
a very weak Mali declared war on me in RFC Rand, me, Germany, allied of Vikings and Spain, and my vassals, the strongest nation of the world, who controls 22.6% of the world and 26% of the pop. allied with the other great powers (vikings and spain). what are they thinking?

BTW, their millitary is 2nd weakest, and no, they aren't vassals.

(i cant post SS because my new pc printscreen always gets a image from desktop, firefox,or something else, but not the Civ in-game SS, for some reason...)

Did you just enter a Golden Age by any chance? A random AI vic can auto-declare war on you when you enter a Golden Age.

no. my only golden age at that time was with the olimpics in Rome, around 1750 :p i was now around 1920 i think.

EDIT : same game, India never collapsed, even when they lost their capital, they continued here and got the capital back, when i saw the history after the game ended. they just collapsed around 1960 because they built the Internet (and i had a rage attack, because i wanted it and my vassals were near me in techs, so i would get like 4 modern era techs now or later)

EDIT2 : forgot to mention... Vikings never collapsed, were a Super-Power until the French revolted and i invaded half France(the other half was mine, and didn't rebelled? later even Paris didn't tried to rebel! but a viking city tried!), and they always had colonies all around the globe, including almost all South America. (or something south of that, because Brazil was like near the Equator.

DoW on GA would only occur from Triumphal Arches. Played as China twice and always had war in 1400.

It's from my modmod, but impressive nonetheless:

Germany just made a successful naval invasion across the Atlantic!

Yeah, I was surprised about that as well. But the fact that the AI has even the incentive to ferry over an army was before unwitnessed by me.

New one: has anyone ever seen the Romans found Geneva?

Should be French, I presume.

Well, if it's from RFC:DoC as I assume the image is, a city with two iron, stone, and pigs would be a really, really good city. I'd settle it too.

Really? Genava? Not Lugdunum/Lyon?
