The pre-AFSNES I.

Aww, Sardinia was defeated. Oh well, I don't plan on relinquishing control. We've been defeated, fair and square, and we submit to our betters.

I had considered destroying it, yes. Anyway, it is not much more than what Darius had.

Also, the extent to which it helps Karung economically is probably actually very minor. Its more of a prestige thing when you think of it. All those poor slaves died for nearly nothing, ah well.

HAH! told you, I said it 7 seconds prior to das.....*cough*

Soooo anyone willing to worship me yet?

which reminds me, must do my own Prestige thing....

err das; does Egypt have Pyramids? Otherwise I'm prob the only one building em' (in Egyptian, chill guys, CHILL).

Actually, Sardinians are still around and still very much themselves, for all the purposes they are merely foederati, at least for now.

The Egyptian pyramids are still all there, remaining from the Old Kingdom (even the Middle Kingdom existed, actually, though it was weaker than in OTL; its just that afterwards Egypt was a mess and eventually the Karung had managed to conquer that mess and impose their own culture, eradicating the Egyptian one).

Ur has weird megaziggurat pyramids, as you would recall. ;)

Yeah, sorry Kal, I already got those granaries in all my towns. :smug: :p

@Kal: Better hurry then, I've got my eyes set on that one too. Oh, and I also have the Great Wall already, don't forget. ;)

Excerpts from “Carunalaka Apasarpa”

…and in the high tower, was the room of secrets.
Smooth stone floors, smooth white walls, encapsulate
A thousand white panelled drawers,
Each a hidden truth or dissected lie,
Maps, deceits, histories, ledgers,
A cold egg of deception and potentiality in which
Three men, three points of view, three facets of society,
Sit on carved stools.

Clad in white robes, strong and deep,
Builder, soldier, father, king of the city,
The calloused hands of a creator
Rest calmly in his lap
Eyes clear, a knowing smile, as he
Stares intently at the speaker
His land, his pride, his visions
Foremost in his thoughts

Draped in blue, old and stern
Teacher, scribe, priest, judge of men,
Face expressionless, eyes clouded,
The weight of his regard heavy nonetheless
Listening so intensely as to
Draw all the sound from the room
His people, his history, his dreads
Foremost in his thoughts

Wrapped in red, bright and slim
Poet, spy, assassin, agent of change
Speaking softly, speaking quickly,
Eyes darting, restless, the words evoking
a jug emptying of bloody deeds, awaiting
refilling with his masters orders
his tasks, his loves, his futures
foremost in his thoughts

The one in red dams his flow of words
The one in white presses with questions
The one in blue stares from the window at the sleeping city
Parchment is brought, fine Sabean inks
The Blooded One draws, swift pen strokes
Sketching out a map of paths
Paths of victory, paths of defeat, paths of chaos
A spark cast into the tinderbox of history…

oh well, I still have SINES. I'll come up with a new european nation this time

The Ligurian History

The Battle For Genova.
The war with Tarsessos, war that saw great victories, ended with the worst defeat.
The Ligurian Warriors opposed a proud and heroic resistance, difended all cities and all fields of Liguria from the Tarsessian Armies, but in spite of Ligurian resistance the Tarsessian conquered the biggest cities, until they arrived to the great capital, the wonderful and holy city of Genova.
Here a cruel and long battle took place: at the first the Tarsessos’ troops collected themselves on the coast, at the east and the west of the city, placing two base camps for the militar operations.
Into the city arrived warriors from the sorrounding terriories, because the Priest-King ask to all Ligurian warrior to defend the holy city.
They were around religious center, they were into the numerous hills around the city, the ships were all positionated to defend the port, but the biggest part of the warriors were around the royal place-curch, where the best troops, the “Sons of Belanu”, the royal guards, they were going to give their life to save the Priest-King.
The first battle started into the oriental zone of the city: the opponent’s infantries attacked the easternmost gate, but yhe attack was repulsed.
But this was only the start. The Tarsessian cavalry begun to take gates after gates, while the infantry repulsed the Ligurian assault from outside.
The city defenders opposed a reckessy but organized resistance, animated by the love to their own city and by the religious fanaticism: they were sure of Belanu were helping them.
So the first Tarsessos’ attack were repulsed, and the battle became an siege.
Appeared that the Ligurians were succesful to repulse the assault, taking advantage by the well-knowed city conformation, while supplies were coming from the sea and from the hills, that were pratically untakeable.
But something happened: an Ligurian general, that was commanding some ships of the defensive fleet, was corrupted by the money-god, supplyed by a Tarsessain general, and he followed the Tarsessian fleet.
So the defence of the port disappeared, and the enemies ovwerflowed into the city from the port.
The ligurian warriors retired themself under the push of the more organizated Tarsessian troops, but when the royal church were reached, the Priest-King’s palace, an “miracolous” aura seemed envelope the warriors, and the “Son of Belanu” attacked the Tarsessian itsefl, and for a little time the hope filled the heart or the defenders.
But it was only an illusion: the Tarsessian returned to win the little battles inside the city, and the “Sons of Belenu” started to dedicate themself only to the defense of the Priest-King Genu the Third, The Exiled.
Then the King took an difficult decision: abandon the city.
He decided to take the last troops an escape into the hills, the after go into the far territories, to reorganize the renmants of the kingdom.
But also on the hills the Ligurian warriors took numerous defeat, and the Tarsessian troops were going to close the path for the escape.
Then a miracle, an divine intervent, happened: the Tarsessian troops were blocked by a magic force fo the time that allowed to the Priest-King Genu the Third to refuge into the mountains, to rebuilt the kingdom and plan the next revege.

Sorry for my very bad english...i'm sure i made a lot of mistakes with the time of the verbs

Just my luck, I lose internet access for two (and a half) days and my entire empire is destroyed, as well as my allies. Oh well, I will create a new nation later.

@j_eps and Israelite: Why give up that easily? It would be rather astonishing if the empires we see now are the ones that actually make it to the beginning of the NES. At least not all of them will. And with the kind of trouble Ur has seen with its regional minorities, it shouldn't be all that hard for a PC-driven revolution to succeed... :backstab:

OOC: Foiled again, my nation IS STILL standing... Emu, you didn't try hard enough to destroy it! :(

Curse non-politically minded military commanders who refuse to do the right thing! I'll have to destroy it personally then!

Great update. East Asia certainly seems more interesting then usual, although i'm annoyed at a Indonesian empire rising, they always end up colonising Australia real early.

Edit: @Alex I haven't been trying to destroy Xishan just grab bits of its lands and destablise the general area :p through incessant vengeance wars :p

Nah they won't, I'll yell at people if they do ;).

@Israelite: Well you were stuck between three rocks and a hard place, chances of survival were low without prostrating yourself. Take heart from the fact that Judaism will always have a place in India ;).

Those chinese empires are getting bigger and bigger...how long before someone plays for the end game :D?

OOC: I've come to the realization that an unified China is not good long-term wise and thus I will fight to insure it stays as it is :p I'm not going to swallow your poisoned gourmets dis :p

Don't worry emu, hopefully Xishan will no longer exist soon :D
