The Prequel: Greatest Movie Character Ever?

Definitely Frank Drebin from Naked Gun, and Marty McFly (J. Fox ruled in these flicks! lol)

Wow, greatest movie character of all time, that is a tough one. . .

. . . ok I can't possibly name one character as "greatest character of all time" but here are some characters I like and the films I liked them in . . .

Bogart as Rick in Casablanca

Sydney Greenstreet in Casablanca and Maltese Falcon (and let's lump in Jabba the Hutt's character in Star Wars along with Sydney Greenstreet here too hehe)

Lee Marvin's character in Paint Your Wagon

Peter Sellers in I Love You, Alice B. Toklas
. . . his mother in the same movie, who, upon finding her son's apartment over run with his hippy friends, some sitting on the stove, nonchalantly turns on the burner to get them to move, and who declares matter-of-factly to a chubby, Mama Cass type friend of his regarding her weight "you should be ashamed of yourself"

oh geez well I can think of a lot of characters I like

Kurtz in Apocalypse Now,
Kilgore in Apocalypse Now,
Keyser Soze in The Usual Suspects,
Ash in Army of Darkness,
Jack Black in High Fidelity,
Seann William Scott in American Pie 1 and 2 and Road Trip (pretty much same character)
Denzel Washington in Training Day,

The Man With No Name from the Eastwood Western Trilogy
Eli Wallach, "The Ugly" from "The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly"

The Nome King from "Return to Oz"
Rambo
Rocky
Schwarzeneggar from Predator, Terminators 1 and 2, Total Recall
The fatass thing from "Blade"
The 3 breasted girl from "Total Recall"

I dunno. I kinda like Hattie McDaniels in Gone With the Wind as Mammie.

Greatest character ever though, eh?

Easy. Bill Murray's brilliant bank robber in Quickchange. You know, Chip Skipowski? Geena Davis and Randy Quaid were brilliant too, as was the cabbie, played by that guy whose name I can't recall, but who also played a cabbie on Wings. Come to think of it, the old cop played by Jason Robards was fantastic too. In fact, I think I've just realized that Quickchange is my favorite Bill Murray comedy of them all.

"You know, gooda-cop, badda-cop. Last night I was badda-cop. Now it is your turn!"

I had forgotten about Oddball and Ash.

Gordon Gecko was a good role, but not quite a role model.;)

Harold Abrahams and Eric Lester were great roles in Chariots of Fire.

For a very "different" type of character that was extremely good in the film, Dil from "The Crying Game" comes to mind. (I still have nightmares about certain scenes in that movie   )

And of course, there is North from the movie of the same name
or Stu from "The War"
or Mark from "The Good Son"
or Frodo Baggins from LOTR
>Darkshade beats himself over the head with a large club<
Sorry about that, got distracted. :D ;)

Of course theres Indiana Jones, Keyser Soze, Ash, and Kilgore as mentioned.
Also:

Alex DeLarge (Clockwork Orange)

'Bullet-Tooth' Tony (Snatch)

Brick-Top (Snatch)

The Irish guy in BraveHeart

Hudson (Aliens)

Dr. Strangelove

The Drill Sgt. in 'Full Metal Jacket'

D-Fense (Falling Down)

Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver)

Snake Pliskin (Escape From New York)

Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) - The Big Lebowski
Must've seen that movie 20 times, and I have yet to grow tired of his roller coaster temper and his obsession with nam

Rahad Jacksson (Alfred Molina) - Boogie Nights
Really small part, but by far the greatest acting in the entire movie, PTA has godlike qualities when it comes to picking his actors

Vincent (Ron Jeremy) - Boondock Saints
Nah, just kidding, great movie btw

Indy or Bruce Willis' character in Die Hard.

Nearly any character played by Harrison Ford: Han Solo, Richard Kimble, Jack Ryan

Micheal Collins: Liam Neeson

Marty McFly: Micheal J Fox

Rambo: Stallone

John McClean: Bruce Willis

Riggs and Murtagh(sp?) from Lethal Wepon

Actually, Yul Brenner's nutcase in The Dirty Dozen was sheer acting brilliance.

"Sprechen!!"

Mikoyan, I have not laughed so loud in my entire f***in life!

I'm sorry, but I have no choice but to cast a ballot for Ian McKellan's Richard III in Richard III.

(surprised?)

Silver medal goes to Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday in Tombstone (Brilliant! Who wouldn't want that guy as a friend?) and Gord Gekko.

R.III

Nicholson and DeVito in one flew over the ****oo's nest.

Kilmer as Doc Holiday was also great: "I'm your huckleberry"

Clint Eastwood in the "Dirty Harry" movies, or in "Unforgiven".
Keven Costner as "Wyatt Earp".
Harrison Ford as Han Solo in "Star Wars" and of course, as "Indiana Jones".
Tom Hanks as "Forrest Gump".
Larry Fishburne in "Deep Cover" (and he also played a good Ike Turner in that movie made about Tina).
Sylvester Stallone as "Rocky".
Robert DeNiro in "Cape Fear".
Russell Crowe in "Gladiator".

And of course, Brad Pitt in "Legends of the Fall"--my sister named her second son Tristan after this character, and I normally would have laughed about naming a kid after a movie character, but not this one....
