I don't know any smokers who have problems with smell/taste. Even the 15-year/2-3packs a day veterans.
It is in no way a significant problem. The senses are prolly just slighlty dulled. It might be a bigger problem when you're 60 or smthing tho; but by the time you're 60 you wont need smell and taste anyway. :D

My mum lost most of her sense of smell because of smoking...she gave up and regained it after a couple of months. Then she started again and lost it.

Why during the 19th century there was very little inflation - but now in the 20th and 21st century it went mental and prices kept going up. Something to do with banks?

There was plenty of inflation. But there was also plenty of deflation. It averaged out.

For how long did she smoke / how much per day ?

Must be our healthier communist ciggs then. :D

Has anybody heard of the "10% rule" when refering to University assignment word counts?

I hope my lecturer has, just sent a rather pleading email that he accept my 3,200 word essay for a 3,000 word assignment.

I think it depends on the teacher.

Yeah he's fairly laid back. I really don't want to have to rely on Plan B. Dirty protests are so unbecoming.

That is what every smoker I have known said, Until after they quit smoking and said how much better their senses were.

There is no general rule from my experience, varying between assignments and profs. But in general being slightly over tends not to be a big deal, though being under is usually pretty bad.

For example, for many of my business classes the reports are severely docked for going over, because they heavily stress being concise as your boss will be too busy to read any more than necessary in the future.
Arts courses on the other hand, tend to be laid back if you throw an extra page on an assignment, so long as it is useful (if you just have a lot of excess BS you will get docked).

I have never once heard anything about loss of senses from smoking in my entire life. I swear, I haven't been living under a rock, but this is all news to me.

Today on a sign I saw a backwards 3 with a vertical line through it. What is it?
