Most likely they will give you an MRI or CAT (or maybe CT?) scan. Basically you lie on a board and then they make the board move backwards into a sort of giant tube. The tube scans your brain for a concussion, and you move slowly out. It only takes a few minutes and isn't dangerous or painful (or anything; you can pretty much nearly fall asleep while they are scanning).

Here's a picture:

Once they get the results, they can tell you if you have a concussion or not. Basically, a concussion is an injury to the brain. If you hit your head or something like that, then you could have a concussion. Did you hit your head? Is that why you are having painkillers prescribed for you?

They're not going to waste a CT scan on a concussion, you get huge amounts of radiation from them.

Besides, there isn't really any treatment for concussions, doctors just want to confirm you haven't suffered more serious brain trauma, and tell you to stay away from activities where you could re-concuss yourself.

Boooooy, Ainwood aint gonna be amused.

Anyway, Aimee, I'm too lazy to look how they do it for you, so I'll give you the correct spelling so that you can google it yourself:

"concussion"
Well, Valka's not amused, that I know.

In all seriousness, you should look at moving to a place without stressful. Might I suggest maybe Red Deer? The colder climate will be easier on your head, and you'll be farther away from all those pesky people who might talk loud and give you a headache.

Cats, I also understand, have a therapeutic effect. Move out in the wilderness, get some cats...you should feel better!

i hit my hed on the wall at scool (i was using the green screen in film class i thogt there was a cushin behind it). and i saw some flashy things and felt dizzy and a few days latir I got a relly bad hedache.

You saw some of your phonemes and letters falling out of your head. You better go back to school and try and find them.

Aimee, a concussion is when Jesus decides that you've been thinking Satanic thoughts (or at least more than usual) and he gives you mindpains so that you will be punished for your evil thoughts.

To correct them you have to dress up as an altar boy and go visit a Catholic priest in Ireland.

Perhaps checking if the cushion was actually there should have been your first priority? I get that you might have imagined that the green screen was really a field of flowers with unicorns and faeries in it, and everything was warm and fuzzy and cuddly, but generally running headfirst into most anything is a bad idea.

Now if you really want unicorns and faeries and everything warm and fuzzy and cuddly, try running into something hard again. The doctor might give you some nice diamorphone -- but make sure they have a license to do so!

You don't need anything special to check for a concussion. If you wince away from normal voice as if they're loud noises and have an aversion to normal lighting like the one you should have to bright lighting, there's a pretty good chance you're concussed. The doctor's will likely just get a stick - like those ones they put on your tongue to see if your tonsils are inflamed - or their finger, wave it back-and-forth in front of your eyes and work it out from that.

If Venus were to be terraformed somehow, would the presence of oceans ignite plate tectonics, since the planet is already volcanically active? If so, how long would it take to start plate tectonics?

I think this would depend on how we went about terraforming the planet. Clearly there isn't a "one size fits all" approach, so I'm sure however we end up doing that we'd account for plate tectonics.

Why is it so difficult to get rid of morning wood? I've always found that strange.

Because there is indeed a God, and he has a sick sense of humor.

Meaning, he says sexual relations and such are a horrific sin, but then makes it necessary to continue the species. He makes it all feel good. And he finally makes it so the only way for you to get rid of "it" is by, well, participating in some version of the very sin he condemns you to hell for.

I think God would be a fun guy to have a drink with, if I drank.

Yes, they're the equivalent of several hundred x-rays.

MRIs use non-ionizing radiation, so they're not dangerous in that sense. (Although ironically, they could correctly be called nuclear magnetic resonance procedures/machines.)

MRIs use magnetism, not radiation at all. Perhaps you could post a link to studies into the dangers of this.

MRIs use non-ionizing radiation in the radio frequency range.

I don't see why I need to post links, none of the information about MRIs or CT scans I mentioned is either controversial or difficult to find on google or wiki.
