The Real World NES

My thoughts exactly; although you and Panda are very obvious candidates, if only because of those avatars (thanks for changing yours, btw, its nice to have such reassurances of one's mind control powers ;) ).

:p

I got sick of the whining, and found another good otter pic. ;)

I rally for "Give'em Hell" Harry, even if TR is my personal favorite.

Trust me, NK can be megalomaniacal. ;) And technically, both Napoleon's military, foreign and domestic records do sound fairly NK-esque; an exception would be d'Enghien, but I can't imagine you ruthlessly killing someone whom you didn't even hear about in the update - it would be a waste of effort. :p

Hey! I could be a democratically elected leader! Just because you tend to be "evil" and hitler esque doesn't mean we are all ;) I'm like benevolent, caring, compassionate, stalwart, pragmatic and bloody stubborn :D

Harleqin doesn't seem as dark or brooding as Abraham Lincoln, nor does he seem as unsure (I am not as confident as my arrogance in NESing would have some to believe - just as Symphony or North King ;) ). Lincoln was also not quite so "honest abe" as we make him out to be. He did a number of constitutionally unsound things during his administration, and it was primarily through him that the government first began to gain so much power over the states.

Before Lincoln and the civil war, the USA was much more like a confederation of states, afterwards, it was a nation.

I would like to believe that my oratorical skills, atleast relative to NESing, somewhat correlate with Lincoln's own ;)

Well, you did leech off various historical characters in your speeches ;)

Well, they also sound very Panda-esque.

That's the problem, but Danton isn't terribly NK-esque, and yet is Panda-esque.

hitleresque

Hitler was (could be considered) a democratically-elected leader. Actually, if USA goes dystopic and imperial in the 21st century, silver2039 seems like a natural choice (him or JosefStalinator...). ;)

Technically I COULD play a democratically-elected leader, but that's not much fun, is it? Although technically, I did do so in the past on several occasions, and didn't even abuse my powers too much, mostly because I didn't have enough time.

As far as American presidents go, I'm not sure where I'd fit in. Now, if we just had American politicians, I would probably have taken Burr or Hamilton, or McCarthy, but for some strange reason none of them gained power in OTL. ;)

Anyway, any interest in the revolutionaries? I could do them now, I think.

EDIT:

I would consider myself possible of election. I mean, I never act evily, ever.

That kinda disqualifies you from election, you know. ;) Whoever is playing Nader is also "never acting evily", which is why Nader is on and beyond the fringes of American politics.

@Iggy - You just sneak attacked a nation who thought you were coming to trade with them as the poor buggers were in your lebensraum. Thats kinda evil. Also, I replied to your diplo.

As for Hamilton, I like the guy (Kingdom of America, anyone? plus he was illegitimate son of broke Scot and a past-her-prime, down-on-her-luck French beauty and arrogant as hell for raising himself out of that :D). Burr, not so much, for a variety of reasons. He's kinda comical.

I nominate Swiss for William Henry Harrison :p

Thats kinda evil.

But not as evil as stealing other people's speaches, which is what Iggy was talking about. ;)

Burr, not so much, for a variety of reasons.

I agree that his later actions are absurd (strangely he always reminded me of Chichikov from Gogol's "Dead Souls", especially while trying to carve out a state for himself in the west), but had he gained power in the USA itself...

Yes, that was vaguely machiavellian (fine by me, my nation is rather italian in style), but as das said I was talking about speeches, not evil.

Technically, you're in my Lebensraum too, but I show considerably more respect to PC nations.

Wait, why are Italians using German?:p

Hey, I was impressed and I have no problems with that at all. I thought it was rather innovative. And, bah, I can't be expected to be bothered with such trivial things as "reading other users posts" when I have more important things to do, like grace you all with my all encompassing brilliance that shines like a bright light in the dark.

I am, indeed in your Lebensraum, but there is plenty more to the south and relatively little to be gained (as its sort of a secluded coast) in return for upsetting the most/one of the most militaristic countries when instead you could team up with them ;) The mercantile puffs to the south are a much less prickly prize.

As for the German... well, that A) sounds a lot cooler than things like "campanilismo" and, B) is much more expansionary than the same.

Now that is a sentiment I really disagree with. Can't you people deal with nations rather than with players? ;)

I'm electable, in an "empty suit" sort of way.
