The "secret unit"

What I don't understand is why didn't he reveal this when he revealed the secret unit? I mean, why didn't he say, hey guys, this is the secret unit. Or at least not reveal the GDR???

Probably he assumed that we assumed that the GDR was the secret unit when he revealed it, and then when people on the boards didn't pick up on that, he thought it was funny to drag it out. But now the game's out and the time for humor is over.

Agree. I laughed when I saw the tag, even before I saw that it was the GDR.

I have to admit, if the GDR had been omitted from the civlopedia until you actually built one, the first time I made it to the future era and could actually build one, it would probably have blown my mind to see a 150str unit in my "can make this stuff" section of a city suddenly appear.

Haha, yep, I did that, too. At least it made me level up enough to make the next few hours of the game a breeze.


And I thought he had said all along the GDR was the secret unit. Or at least, I was pretty sure I heard that somewhere. So I'm not really disappointed since that's what I assumed.

The snake was easy to kill if you used mind blast (Barrett's second limit break) on it and shoved people on the back row. Once you've eliminated its MP, you're safe from beta.

I think this is a wind up. Even if some future robotic unit was introduced would it be called: Giant Death Robot. I saw the graphic somewhere on here to.

You sure this is not like the duelling leaders joke. The single combat special moves one, can't remember what they called that.

I was trying to avoid threads about the secret unit to avoid ruining the suprise and I almost skipped this thread for that exact reason (althoguh fortunately my curiousity got the better of me).

Yeah exactly. How can this make sense. There's been so many contradictions with Civ 5. Ultra-scalability, demo release date, and now the secret unit...?
