The Sims 2 | "Nehru" Legacy Challenge (Reader Participation Welcome)

I'mm going to cut straight to the chase and vote Isabella as heir.

You're just in time!

------------------------------------------------------------------
Nehru Legacy 9.4 -- Heir Up

niners2.jpg

I debate the merits of giving Leopold some ostentatious facial hair upon his acension to the throne, but leave him be (save a switch to more kingly clothing).

niners3.jpg

Not sure what I'll do with the unfinished Nehru portrait just yet.

niners5.jpg

Meadow also changed into something a bit more formal than her tank top and skinny jeans.

niners4.jpg

After the death of Victoria (who activated him), PERFECTION shut down. How long that will last remains to be seen.

nines6.jpg

Now that Isabella's completed her flower badges, time for a job!

niners7.jpg

The Gold Flower-Arranging Badge should come in handy.

niners8.jpg

With Victoria dead, Leopold has to start greasing peasants' palms, as the Nehrus only have 2 friends.

niners9.jpg

Helps that private school kids start at the second level of teen jobs instead of the first.

niners10.jpg

She rolled a want to start working on her pottery badges, too!

niners11.jpg

Of course, she's only following in her dad's footsteps.

The kids are college age, meaning...time for the heir poll! Either Ferd or Isabella will bring in Generation Ten, and I will declare the legacy fulfilled when that final generation comes to the throne.

So, whom shall it be?

ferdl.jpg

Young master Ferdinand?

izzie.jpg

Or the Lady Isabella?

I'll be out of town until Tuesday evening, so the poll is open at least until then.

Ferdinand. Even though Isabella is clearly the better choice, you must go with the eldest male. IT'S DA LAW!

Isabella. She's clearly the better choice :p

Isabella. I mean really, what the hell has Ferd done with his hair?

Ferdinand's hair is ghastly and Isabella is better skilled and more attractive, but the male heir must inherit!

Ferdinand's hair is ghastly and Isabella is better skilled and more attractive, but the male heir must inherit!

Finally, someone who understands how this works!

Any more Isabella voters out there? Please? :p

If you want Isabella as heir, screw the votes. Just do it. It's your game. ;)

Tempting, tempting, but there are only so many intervals in which readers can participate here, and heir polls constitute half of them.

I'll vote for Isabella to return the Nehru dynasty to it's mad scientist roots.

:D

With TLC changing his vote from Leopold to Isabella, and with the last two votes, Isabella now has a 2-point lead and I call. :P Isabella shall be heir!

Nehru Legacy 9.5 -- The Beginning of the End

The results of the heir poll are in, and --

Easy, Isabella! You won!

13390866.jpg

She quickly finds a potential father for Generation Ten. He has black hair, blue-grey eyes, and a good strong nose which I look for in every prospective Nehru spouse, because Hieronymous had one and I like to keep it in the family.

41163546.jpg

She quickly polishes off her skills...

92793967.jpg

...and then turns her attention to strengthening the family. After rolling a want to purchase a community lot, I noticed the uni house had a little over $44,000 in the bank.

97543953.jpg

Incredibly, I neglected to take a picture of the Art Gallery, but it's a two-story structure with the basic appearance of a castle, including four torrents on the third level. Inside are a few expensive paintings. Since Isabella can "Dazzle" prospective customers, those paintings -- bought for $4500-5000 will sell for at least double that...and that's being NICE. I could bilk them for more, I suppose, but simply doubling the price seemed sufficient.

12223519.jpg

We just opened the doors, jerk! Your name is on PERFECTION's to-do list.

19134297.jpg

Isabella sinks her perks into networking and influence, which will make it easier to make and keep friends.

12292046.jpg

She's basically running a one-sim operation here...selling, restocking, and ringing up customers. This is possible in young business, but once it becomes popular she'll need help.

77349890.jpg

She also sells some of her own paintings: off the easel, she would've gotten $450-600 for these, but at the Gallery they sold for $3000.

i10f.jpg

Having recovered all of her initial building investment and doubled her net work, Isabella buys another lot.

i11e.jpg

She'll need help with this one, and so enlists Lindsay. Lindsay is one of Sinead's daughters.

i12lc.jpg

Bewitched Goods, the new local bakery.

i13e.jpg

It's fairly simple inside: the main floor, a kitchen to replenish supplies, and a bathroom on the off-chance anyone sticks around long enough to need it. There's a magic chair in the kitchen for Lindsay and Isabella.

i14t.jpg

The two baked up a fair few berry pies and bowls of Grandma's Comfort Soup (which cures all ills), and I begin by stocking.

i15t.jpg

Since Isabella has a bronze cashier's badge and the Dazzle sales interaction, she takes the floor while Lindsay works in the back producing more pies and soup.

i16m.jpg

Amazing what a little word from the king will do.

i17hyq.jpg

:D

i18b.jpg

Interestingly, everything Lindsay bakes winds up in ISABELLA's pockets, so every once in a while they switch up: Lindsay operates the register (badly) while Isabella restocks. Since the bakery is too busy for Isabella to work the register and use her sales interactions, I lowered the price a bit so most customers don't need any convincing.

i19bz.jpg

The new business partners also work at the Art Gallery, with Lindsay taking care of the register and Isabella dazzling customers into buying paintings and sculptures. Even with free will off, the girls keep getting distracted from the work at hand, so I had to trap Lindsay behind stone walls to keep her focused. Isabella just needed to teleport into the closed-off section to use the magic chair.

i20l.jpg

Isabella's private business empire is doing well. Not bad for a college freshman!

i21m.jpg

For some reason customers keep wanting to interact with Lindsay and Isabella instead of buying things and leaving like good consumers, and with my attention on Isabella's sales I sometimes missed the fact that Lindsay had left the register to shrug at the stone fences which kept her from being tickled by various people. Leopold was a serious offender: I started deleting him on sight because he was so distracting.

i22.jpg

Even with those missed sales, I'd say Isabella is on top of her game.

More to come.

Although I've been playing The Sims 2 since late 2004, I've only started trying to make roofs by hand this week. (The game has an auto-roofs tool.) This house, which Isabella will live in while I'm playing Leopold and Meadow, is my second attempt. It's a little strange because I tried to combine styles: I wanted that middle piece to connect smoothly with the rest of the house's roof, but it didn't work so I extended the walls, added platforms on top of the walls, and then covered it with brick and concrete.

i24q.jpg

King Leopold and Queen Meadow were fairly boring, living in the family manor all by themselves. I literally can't tell you what happened the first four days, since I told them to meditate and then went away to read, figuring I'd finish The Third Chimpanzee while the game ran. I didn't anticipate falling asleep, but I woke up before five days had passed in-game.

i25x.jpg

On the fifth day, Meadow finished all of her skills -- a fantastic accomplishment given that I didn't let her use thinking helmets. (The aspiration points needed for those are reserved for skilling teenagers.)

i26g.jpg

The King is now an elder...with an amusing beard.

i27c.jpg

Being an information overlord doesn't pay much, so Meadow transfers into another career (tech administration) before she ages up. It uses the same icon as the Sims1 hacker career.

i28u.jpg

Leopold doesn't too much like being king, I take it...

i29u.jpg

For some reason, someone left three huge piles of garbage on the lawn. I didn't notice it, and so the side lawn was littered with roaches. These are just a few.

i30k.jpg

Anticipating Isabella's return, Leopold prepares the matrimonial isle.

i31.jpg

ModtheSims2.com is where most of my custom content comes from.

i32r.jpg

....annnnnnnnd Isabella's back.

i33y.jpg

Here she is as an adult.

i35d.jpg

I briefly consider letting Victor keep his last name (Patch) but make him a Nehru anyway. (I have a hack which allows me to choose the last name marrying sims take: they can take their name, their partner's name, or have no name change at all.)

i36x.jpg

How were you working as a university professor when you're not even qualified to become an elementary school teacher, Victor?

Hmmmm.

i37zd.jpg

I figure he'll be of more use to Isabella working inside her business empire, so he adopts attire more suitable for a salesman.

i38v.jpg

Wha -- this is just the job description with a question at the end of it!

i39g.jpg

Good thing, since if she was fired she couldn't get that job back. Unfortunately elders are locked out of adult careers.

i40r.jpg

We shall continue to sell the land until such time as the wisdom of such a decision is appreciated by the peasants of Nehru Hills!

i41s.jpg

Regardless of the consequences!

And why do these Crumplebottom people keep investing?!

i43n.jpg

She's getting paid $1337?

i44k.jpg

This was almost Leopold's wife. I like her genes, except for those blasted brown eyes...

i45p.jpg

Victor is off to sales boot camp at Wilhelm's: the woman with the wavy blonde hair is Lindsay.

i47g.jpg

The final heirs are upon us!

i48w.jpg

..huh. You know, I didn't notice I left that bowling ally in the middle of the street until looking through my screencaptures.

i49w.jpg

If I remember correctly, the final job in this career offers a fairly nice salary and few hours.

i50d.jpg

The lady Isabella spends her pregnant time painting masterpieces.

i51mm.jpg

Since Leopold's underwear and pajamas are both bathrobes, he spends a lot of time puttering around in them. Combined with the beard he's amusing to watch.

i52f.jpg

...very nice, Victoria. You made your heir pee on herself. Well done.

i53dh.jpg

And that "Oh, god, I'm about to die" face tells me it's time.....for the birth of Generation Ten!

Submit some appropriately-magnificent names!

Hieronymous, of course!
