The Sims 2 | "Nehru" Legacy Challenge (Reader Participation Welcome)

Update to come on Wednesday: last night instead of playing Sims 2, I started a game as the Celts in Civ3. If it makes anyone feel better, my continent is my own, the Romans, English, and Dutch have been obliterated or reduced to island cities, and I am in a strong place to take whatever victory I want.

Hurrah.

74089336.jpg

She wants to be Poseidon's right hand, but since her first day at work won't be for several days, I'm having her enter into another deity's service instead. It'll be practice.

37447577.jpg

Hiero has taken over gardening completely.

37677253.jpg

An interest in sports means he'll probably join the ranks of this family's many pro athletes.

86303664.jpg

What, no pointy hat? And that job description just sounds odd for Anglicanism.

(Plus, I don't think the English have moved past the magic-penis doctrine enough to give females ordination.)

67814114.jpg

Sophia is toddling now, and she'll get ALL of her skills -- Walking, Talking, Toilet-Training, and the Nursery Rhyme.

91131523.jpg

Victor dotes on her, which is good for him because otherwise I'd probably make him move out. He's done what I needed him to do. :P

68652374.jpg

This frees up Isabella to help Hiero skill.

51128853.jpg

Er...pot luck. That's always fun.

t10d.jpg

I don't think it counts as saving the church money if you POCKET THE MONEY, Isabella. Once a criminal, always a criminal I guess. What's a bishop doing meddling around in a local parish church, anyway?

(But I figure it's good for the monarch to also be in charge of Nehru Hill's religious life, to keep people obedient.)

t11mm.jpg

Hiero is practicing lying, which ought to come in handy when he goes into politics.

t12q.jpg

The...alrighty, then. I'm now certain that this is the user's protestant pastor career with Anglican job titles. If I ever explore SimPE, that's something I'd change.

dooov.jpg

We'll say this is where she works. (This is actually "Friedrichstadt", one of my SimCity 3000 cities. I was going for a European model, but I played the city too long last night and surrendered to commercial sprawl. I think that cathedral is a landmark from France, but I'm not sure.)

t13n.jpg

OK, into the ocean with you.

t14m.jpg

...annnd Sophia grows up, having already gained 8 points in creativity!

t15t.jpg

After Leopold teaches her how to study, she discovers her preferred hobby.

t16zw.jpg

Megaphones sound funnier.

t17to.jpg

Heh.

t18n.jpg

That was quick. Now she wants to be a Business Tycoon.

t20t.jpg

Of course, she'll groom Sophia for her potential role in the family business.

t19x.jpg

...and Hiero is now a piano maestro.

--------------------------!------------------

t21g.jpg

One of my least-favorite autonomous actions: butterfly- and firefly-catching. They literally shove the creatures in a jar, plop them down on a counter somewhere, and then run off to go pee or play red hands while the bugs die.

t22m.jpg

The Nehrus may live a life of power, influence, and fortune, but they pay for the privilege by relentless skilling.

t23x.jpg

Ah, the rare boot-fish, seldom seen outside of Nehru Hills' isolated ecosystem.

t24h.jpg

...I won the Headmaster scenario without even feeding him. Nice.

t25.jpg

You know, I think Hiero's done pretty well for himself as a kid.

t26r.jpg

He grows up to be a Fortune Sim: here I compared his and his parents' features.

t27a.jpg

Now that the skilling is over, it's time for some fun! :groucho:

More to follow come..the weekend. Here's what I was doing LAST weekend instead of Sims 2.

t28zj.jpg

I am not sure if I'm going to go for spaceship or domination yet.

t29g.jpg

If you can't do a high backspin shot to land a ball perfectly on a tee surrounded by woods, water, rocks, and whatever evil I can find....may the golf-gods help you.

Sid Meier's SimGolf. Maxis and Firaxis teaming up for a golf simulator. It's really fun.

Ah, the GUI has a very sims2y look.

I think there's more Will Wright here than Sid Meier. I'd think it was a Maxis game were it not for the occasional FIRAXIS blimp drifting by. Of course, I don't know what might mark a game as Sid Meier's save general quality. (You can choose Sid Meier's head when creating a custom golfer, though, as well as the heads of some generals in Gettysburg.)

For those who have all the Sims 2 expansion packs, I've recently discovered something called the "Uber-Megahood", which uses Pleasantview as a base and then includes all the OTHER neighborhoods as add-ons to it. That is what I have been doing this weekend. Some neighborhoods I've ignored completely because there weren't any interesting characters in them, but now that they can play a role in the great Capp-Monty-Pleasant struggle for power, I've actually looked into them.

Despite the allure of the Uber-Megahood, I did manage to play some Nehrus.

Nehru Legacy 10.3: Attack of the Chance Cards

cc1uh.jpg

The Nehrus generally have high charisma because I make them practice speeches every time I catch the kids playing with the podium equipment.

cc2bd.jpg

Er...trust. <shrug>

cc3f.jpg

:) And I chose well.

cc4l.jpg

Tapes? What is this, the 1970s? DVDs!

cc5t.jpg

Agh! Getting fired as an elder is annoying because elders can't get their old jobs -- or ANY real job -- back.

cc6w.jpg

She's sad, so I give her a makeover and a roll in the hay.

cc7c.jpg

Be a good little kiss-up.

cc8ef.jpg

cc9s.jpg

:)

cc10k.jpg

Hiero is doing well for himself as a teen!

cc11p.jpg

He gets his first kiss off of Cleo Whatsherface.

cc12.jpg

Awww, Sophia, don't kick The Cheat.

Poor The Cheat.

cc13x.jpg

 You know you're already going to win the heir poll, right? Stop trying so hard.

cc14b.jpg

Leopold has taken to sleeping in a coffin. It's...a little weird.

cc15d.jpg

Inviting the entire town to dinner, are we?

cc16p.jpg

SCIENCE!

cc17n.jpg

Now she can make Really Big Pots.

cc18v.jpg

I always wait until winter to rake up the leaves. If you rake them up during the fall, more leaves just fall.

cc19u.jpg

Once these leaves are put in compost bins, I'll have more free fertilizer (once they've composted).

More to come...

------------------------------:-O-------------
cc20.jpg

Sophia's about to grow up, and I'd say like Hiero she's done well for herself as a kid.

cc21.jpg

She's very playful but lazy, which says "PLEASURE SIM" to me.

cc22x.jpg

Since Leopold will be...er, "retiring" any day now, Isabella needs to get into position for succession.

cc23g.jpg

Time to introduce Sophia into the line of witches. Now she won't have to sleep, eat, or anything else -- just sit down in the magic throne every once in a while. :goodjob:

cc24p.jpg

She has a desire to be a celebrity chef.

cc25.jpg

...

cc26p.jpg

I don't know why Victor is laying in the floor like this, but I think it has something to do with the exercise bike. Usually when someone pees the floor and then passes out in said pee, it's because of the bike. They're OBSESSED with it.

cc27.jpg

I'm fairly sure you should be at work, LEOPOLD.

cc28x.jpg

Excellent! And now-

-- oh. The game crashed. Good thing I saved a few minutes before. I was going to play until Leopold joined his ancestors, but a crash to the desktop is as good a time as any to take a break. :p

You never downloaded the Monarchy career :(

The only one available is silly.

We started with Hieryonimous, and we're ending it with Hieryonimous II.

Nehru Legacy 10.4
------------:-)-----------------------

leopold1p.jpg

You know this is the last time you're going to plant crops, Leo? :(

leo2n.jpg

No Nehru need fear reprisal for their actions.

leo3l.jpg

For all embrace their brilliance.

leo4a.jpg

They're GREEN in this game, Hiero.

leo5h.jpg

Just in time, because Leopold is about to kick the bu-

..er, "retire".

leo6l.jpg

Six o'clock on his final day finds him, like other heirs, in the bathroom. Time to pass away, Leopold.

..stop mopping, please.

leo7h.jpg

Leopold could not stop for death, so Death kindly stopped for him.

leo8l.jpg

Hey, that stuff is supposed to be Isabella's!

leo9y.jpg

And thus another Nehru is entombed...

leo10.jpg

How about you, Meadow? Ready to go? ...no?

Looks like I'll be having her around for another week.

leo11.jpg

I'm afraid that won't bring him back, Meadow..

leo12s.jpg

Behold, Isabella's ginormous jug!

leo13.jpg

Aw, Leo never finished that painting.

leo14.jpg

If I don't make them do it moments after they get home, I forget about it and it piles up. Sophia has a stack of four.

leo15.jpg

Cleo here is clever. She's befriending the lady of the house BEFORE she gets married to Hiero and becomes part of the household.

leo16.jpg

A er, fine job, and one totally worthy of a princess of the Blood Royale.

More to come.

*innocent whistle*

....Victor, Hiero, you guys are...a word I can't say on family-friendly forums.

 Expect punishment.

leo29.jpg

:( Poor Sophia.

leo30.jpg

I held off on Victor's punishment (a night in the crypt) because he was due for a promotion, but tonight's the night. Hiero...

...well, let's just say Hiero's punishment can wait. :mischief:

leo31.jpg

It's been a long time, Penguin. What, you forget the address?

leo32.jpg

Now that Professor Victor has finally earned his name, it's time for him to be punished for laughing at his daughter's terrifying and humiliating experience. I'll come fetch you at dawn, Vic ol' boy.

leo34.jpg

Mere seconds later.

Oh no Camryn how could you.

(:goodjob:)

leo35.jpg

Isabella, do you want to teleport over there and - ...well, you look happy. Why bother?

leo36.jpg

Since Hiero is the presumed heir, Cleo spends a lot of time hanging about, which -

...nice dining conversation you're making there, CLEO.

leo37.jpg

Won't be long before you're doing that for real, Meadow!

leo38.jpg

 I locked that want but it was never fulfilled.

Now that Hiero is about to scamper off to college, it's time for the Heir Poll. I figure I the results are a foregone conclusion but to be fair to Sophia and to keep with the tradition -- for who knows, there may be a great, silent, Sophia majority -- I ask of you, who shall be heir?

Hieroynmous, or Sophia?

Sophia won't get a look-in. Hieronymous!
