The Sumerian Empire

We'll wait, it's worth it.:goodjob:

1625 A.D.
Military Advisor- Supreme One, we have fulfilled the original attack plans for Carthage.
sinop_cadiz.png

Military Advisor- Hannibal's empire is greatly diminished! Shall we continue?
King Gudea- No, it is time to bring this to an end. As soon as a peace treaty is signed you can pull back the 1st Army Group for reinforcement. After they have rested, send them towards Egypt.
Military Advisor- We will be able to handle Egypt easily, once the 1st Army Group joins the 3rd. Once the 4th Army Group is trained and assembled, which will be soon, the Egyptian's won't stand a chance!

Foreign Advisor- My King, the Carthaginians must have been desperate for peace, cause they offered up two of their small towns to make it happen.
s587-peace_carthage.png

King Gudea- What worthless towns did he hand over to us?
Military Advisor- Both are small and far from here, but the town of Tacape is in a crucial spot.
s588-tacape.png

Military Advisor- Once we get some forces there, we should be able to block off the area and keep anyone from coming thru. Currently there is fierce fighting, all around Tacape, between Rome and the Byzantines.
King Gudea- Being able to control and seal off that passage my be valuable to us.

Military Advisor- Sir, I have here a map of before and after the war with Carthage. Also, I have compiled our losses during the conflict.
before_after_carth.png

military_losses.png

King Gudea- Hannibal lost over twice as many military units and over half of his empire. Excellent!

1650 A.D.
s597-trade_embargo.png

King Gudea- What!? I showed Hannibal mercy by not wiping him off the map and he does this to us?
Foreign Advisor- Cleopatra has also been trying to pull Arabia into embargo against us and so far Abu has rejected her offers.
King Gudea- We wouldn't have been trading anything to Hannibal anyway, but it is still annoying.

1655 A.D.
The man was soundly asleep and dreaming a very peaceful dream. He was walking down a path thru the forest, on a sunny autumn day. The path came to a clearing which had a small bubbling stream running thru it. The man looked to the left at a flock of birds singing in a tree, a couple of squirrels playing to the right and straight ahead was a deer drinking from the stream. The man was content and enjoying the scene, when all the animals suddenly took flight or ran, startled by the gunfire. Gunfire?
King Gudea quickly sat up in his bed and listened. It was the middle of the night, but he distinctly heard gunfire and a lot of shouting. Just as he swung his legs over the side of the bed, there came a loud rap at the door and then it opened slightly.
Royal Guard- My King, are you all right?
King Gudea- Yes, what is happening?

Two of the King's most trusted royal guards quickly entered the room, then shut and locked the door. They both went to one knee, between the King and the entrance of the room, then pointed their rifles at the door.
Royal Guard- Sir, there are assassins inside the palace.
King Gudea- What! How many?
Royal Guard- We think around 20 assaulted the front doors of the palace. The guards there took down eight of the assassins before falling themselves. The intuders then spread out thru the palace, killing anyone in their path. Gilgamesh and a large group of guards are hunting down the rest of the assassins. He sent the two of us here to protect you.

After getting dressed, King Gudea took his sword down from the mounting on the wall and strapped it on. He then opened up a large wooden chest and took out his personal sidearm. He made sure the gun was loaded and then slowly ran his fingers over the ivory handle. To the dismay of the guards, the King then started for the door.
Royal Guard- Sir, would you please stay behind us.
King Gudea- No, I will not! It is bad enough that I send thousands of men off to war, while I stay all comfortable in this palace. Now an enemy has invaded my house and you expect me to cower in my room. I think not. Let us go engage the enemy before Gilgamesh finishes them all off.

One of the guards cracked open the door, peeked out, then moved out into the corridor. They immediately heard sporadic gunfire and headed in that direction. The three turned down a side passage to a back staircase and down they went, the two guards leading the way. The stairs opened up into another hallway and the commotion of battle was suddenly louder. Just fifteen feet from the stairs was a large door, set into the right side of the hallway. The sounds were coming from behind that door.
King Gudea- That's the royal library. We-
Suddenly there was a crash as someone hurled himself against the locked door. There was a short pause, then a shower of bullets sprayed thru the lock and doorjamb. The door burst open and a man wearing black from head-to-toe fell headlong onto the hallway floor. A second similar-garbed man slowly backed out of the library, while firing a small hand-held machinegun back into the room.
The assassin on the floor looked at the King with recognition and yelled something in another language. The guard to Gudea's left shot his rifle, hitting the assassin squarely in the chest. With his dying breath, the assassin raised his weapon towards the King and squeezed the trigger. The other royal guard leapt in front of the King, taking the spray of bullets and then crumpling to the ground. The assassin in the doorway turned from the library, saw King Gudea, pointed his weapon and...click! The gun's ammunition clip was empty. With frightening speed, the assassin threw his gun down, took out a long knife and lunged at Gudea. Two shots rang out, one from the remaining guards rifle and the other from the King's pistol. The assassin, hit in the head and shoulder, was hurled to the ground. The battle in the library apparently ended at the same time, as two more royal guards rushed out into the hallway.
Royal Guard- Sir, are you hurt?

King Gudea did not answer right away. He was bent down over the guard that had stepped in front of the bullets meant for him. The King whispered something to the fallen guard, then reached out and closed his eyes.
King Gudea- No, I'm not hurt. Are all the intruders dead?
Royal Guard- Yes, we got them all.
King Gudea- Where is Gilgamesh?
The two guards that had just exited the library stood there silently, acting as if they didn't hear the question. The military adivisor then walked out of the library, with his right arm limp and bloody at his side.
Military Advisor- Gilgamesh fell during the battle in the library. When an assassin would run out of ammunition, he would discard his gun and take out a knife. After this had happened to a number of them, Gilgamesh waded into them with his bare hands. With his martial arts he took out four of them, while also taking a few knife hits himself. But then he was shot in the back by one of the two assassins that escaped into this hallway.

King Gudea rushed over to the doorway and stopped, taking in the scene of chaos. Most of the chairs and tables were overturned, ancient books were scattered across the floor, bullet holes everywhere and the limp forms of many assassins and royal guards. In the middle of the room lay Gilgamesh, with four black-clad bodies around him. One of the assassins had an obvious broken neck, with his head staring in an improbable direction. The other three had various injuries, including a broken arm and a ripped-out throat. Gudea made his way over to his life-long friend, knelt down and laid a hand on him. There was a moan and slight body movement. The King turned and shouted.
King Gudea- He's still alive! Get him and all other injured to my personal medical team. Hurry!

Later-
King Gudea- The medical staff has informed me that Gilgamesh and all other injured guards will survive.
Military Advisor- That is good news, my King!
King Gudea- Do we know where they were from?
Military Advisor- It is a little confusing. Some of the assassins look Egyptian, some are Arabian and a few that look of Greek descent.
King Gudea- And the Greeks were conquered by Arabia.
Military Advisor- Yes. The guns are of Hittite manufacture and the knives are of unknown origin. There is one thing that gives it away. The assassin in the hallway recognized you and yelled "There he is" in an ancient Arabian dialect, that is seldom used anymore.
King Gudea- I remember him yelling and then firing.
Military Advisor- I believe Abu sent these assassins and was trying to confuse us as to where they were from. What is odd is they went to all this trouble of the disquise, but had no established attack plan. It is obvious they didn't know the layout of the palace, let alone where you where located. Most of them were easily trapped in the library.
King Gudea- Don't let word get out that it was Arabia. Let everyone think we don't know where the assassins came from.
Military Advisor- Ah! You don't want Abu to be prepared for when we retaliate.
King Gudea- Exactly! How is the war with Egypt going?
Military Advisor- It is going very well. We have pushed quite far into their territory.
s600-destroyed_egypt_cities.png

Military Advisor- Egypt is breaking under the pressure of multiple army groups.
King Gudea- I do not want to spend the time to finish off Egypt completely. I want our forces to continue down the eastern half of Egypt and head towards the Arabian border. With that in mind, I want you to draw me up some battle plans for our retaliation.
Military Advisor- Yes, sir.

1656 A.D.
Military Advisor- On this map it shows the 1st & 3rd Army Groups going thru the eastern part of Egypt. Actually the 4th Army Group will help with that and then withdraw to board transport ships.
battle_plan_for_arabia.png

Military Advisor- The 4th Army Group will be the first to attack and the success of their mission is crucial. The entire army group will land outside of Fustat, destroy the city, then fortify on the hills there.
fustat.png

Military Advisor- One of the divisions will have an attached engineer battalion and they will erect some fortifications. The entire army group will fortify there and attempt to hold all Arabian reinforcements coming in from their main core of cities. Meanwhile the 1st and 3rd AG's will destroy the outer core.
King Gudea- Excellent plan! Start the attack as soon as our forces are in position. Abu will pay for this insult!

My god, an amazing update. Just a question, was it a real assasin unit, or was it a story-maker?

Just pure story.
Actually there was a ninja unit that I added into the mod when making it, but during testing the AI would build nothing but the ninja. I ended up deactivating the unit before starting the game. The AI must have liked it too much cause it was invisible and hidden nationality.

Kill Arabia! How dare they try to kill Gudea! Havent been on that much since playing Starcraft.

Starcraft. Wow, I seem to remember something about playing that extensively, but about 8 yrs ago.;) That brings back memories! Having fun?

@D'Artagnan59- working on it right now, slight possibility that it could be posted tonight, but my bets are on tomorrow night.:)

1655 A.D.
After an extensive investigation into the assassination attempt on Gudea, some of the advisors have come before the King with a report.
Military Advisor- My King, the investigation has led us to a small trading shop, on the outskirts of the city of Sumer.
Foreign Advisor- The shopkeeper was placed here as a sleeper agent over 10 years ago, by the Arabian Intelligence Agency. For quite a while he was just importing furs and waiting for further orders. While waiting, he became involved with a Sumerian woman, married her and had two kids. Once this had happened he began to hope that he had been forgotten about and would not have to take action against the nation he now felt a part of.
Military Advisor- The situation changed about 2 years ago. A shipment of furs came in like usual, but there were a couple of weapons smuggled in with them and one of the delivery men stayed behind. This was the first of what would eventually be 20 assassins to come here.
Foreign Advisor- The shopkeeper no longer wanted to be involved and tried to talk his way out of it. The assassin threatened the wife and kids, forcing the shopkeeper to keep up appearances and to supply a hideout & food.
Military Advisor- Each shipment of furs brought in another assassin, always dressed as a delivery person. The shopkeeper hid all these men in a warehouse and his two kids were kept captive there to keep him cooperative.
King Gudea- Do you believe this shopkeeper?
Military Advisor- Yes. He says we can do what we want with him, but to please spare his wife and kids. He pleaded with us again and again to keep them safe, so I believe he is no longer an Arabian agent.
Foreign Advisor- Also, we have wondered why the assassins attacked without having any kind of map of the palace. The shopkeeper slipped into the warehouse, rescued his kids and then he and his family hid. Apparently the assassins feared he would rat them out and commenced with an immediate attack. The shopkeeper did not come forward for fear of being executed as an enemy agent.
King Gudea- This all explains why Abu would not enter into a trade embargo against us. He needed the open trade route in order to insert his agents.
Foreign Advisor- I would say that is correct.
King Gudea- Take the shopkeeper and his family into custody. Inform them it will be temporary, until we are able to take out Abu. After that, they may settle where they wish.
Military Advisor- It will be done. I already have agents watching the shop, that will arrest all who accompany the next shipment of furs. Also, there is a battalion of infantry guarding the perimeter of the palace grounds and they are posted there permanently.
King Gudea- Very good!

1660 A.D.
s601-combustion.png

Science Advisor- Great new, sir! We have finally perfected a steel warship and it outclasses the ironclad that all the other nations have had for years.
King Gudea- That is good news. Our wooden navy would not last long in this age of industrial steel.
Science Advisor- Our inventors would now like to develop a system to utilize our replaceable parts. This will allow us to speed up production of our war machines and mass produce them.
King Gudea- Outnumbering the enemy is just as good as outclassing them! Your science funding will continue.

1665 A.D.
When King Gudea and the military advisor arrived at the shoreline near Umma, a very large crowd of people were there, all looking out to sea. There were military personnel, reporters and many general citizens all waiting to catch sight of Sumeria's first steel warship. A long gleaming ship came into view and passed by. The crowd cheered when the destroyer shot off her guns in a salute to King Gudea.
s606-1st_destroyeer.png

Military Advisor- The mighty shipyards at Abregado was the first to launch a destroyer out onto the ocean. The men & women there have worked hard to be the best at what they do.
King Gudea- They should all be commended!
Military Advisor- The destroyer was actually designed to be an escort to our transport ships, but at this time it will hold it's own against any vessel in the world. The science advisor says there are plans for even bigger, more powerful ships in the near future and the destroyer could be used to protect them also.
King Gudea- Very impressive! I've never seen a ship move so quickly thru the water and all those cannons...what kind of armament does it have?
Military Advisor- It's primary weapon is a 120mm naval gun and the ship herself can almost reach a speed of 34 knots.
King Gudea- Send orders to have all of our shipyards start building this beauty.
Military Advisor- Already done, my King. I also have a couple of shipyards putting out transport ships for our impending attack on Arabia.

1670 A.D.
Military Advisor- Commander, a small Egyptian fleet of ironclads showed up in the bay outside of Bastion and quickly sunk a galleon full of crusaders, that were just arriving from the mainland. Then the artillery inside the city opened up on the ironclads and drove them off.
s613-ironclads_ouside_bastion.png

1675 A.D.
Science Advisor- Sir, there has been an astounding scientific breakthru, by a couple of civilian inventors down in Arabia. They have built the worlds first flying machine and one of them flew it above the ground for over 200 feet!
first_flight.png

King Gudea- That is incredible! How do we get one of those?
Science Advisor- Well, the Arabian government came in and took over the project. Except for this picture that got out, everything else has been confiscated and taken over by Arabian scientists.
King Gudea- Wonder what they have planned for it? It could be used for surveillance, I suppose.

1680 A.D.
s616-embargo_egypt_byz.png

King Gudea- Cleopatra keeps trying to hurt us economically, then we come back and destroy a few of her cities. I think Sumeria is coming out on top in this one.

1682 A.D.
Military Advisor- The Egyptians have built roads towards two sources of natural rubber that are in their territory. I have assembled two regiments of elite units, to send in for a raid. These commando teams will attempt to shut down both of these operations.
s619-rubber_perseplos.png

Military Advisor- RCT-1 is on foot and will be sent towards Persepolis. RCT-2 is all cavalry and will attempt to make it all the way past Alexandria.

Regimental Commando Team 1 & 2

1685 A.D.
s617-mass_prod.png

Science Advisor- You need to make a tough choice, Sir. Our engineers have many drawings & plans for a self-propelled armored battlewagon, but they also think they could develop a flying machine like the Arabs have.
King Gudea- Being able to fly would be a fascinating experiance, but I don't think it will help us in this war. I would like to see more on this armored assault machine.
Science Advisor- We will start immediately and I will get back to you when we have a working prototype.

1690 A.D.
s621-toe.png

Science Advisor- My King, the Arab scientists are working absolute wonders down there. In a very short period of time, they have transformed their delicate flying machine into a steel version and have mounted machineguns on the wings. They are referring to it as the aeroplane.
King Gudea- I was definately wrong about how that invention could be utilized. You all will have to look into this as soon as possible.
Military Advisor- Just knowing that you could fly thru the air and rain bullets down on your enemies, has my mouth watering.

1693 A.D.
Military Advisor- Sir, the bottleneck between Rome & the Byzantines has been blocked off. There is a battalion of infantry there and some crusaders from Bastion have also arrived.
s624-tacape_blocked.png

Foreign Advisor- Amazingly, this has caused Rome and Byzantium to settle for peace, which means that Caesar can now fully concentrate his forces on Carthage.

1700 A.D.
Military Advisor- Commander, the Egyptians dropped off several military units outside of Bastion. Before our forces there could react, the Romans declared war on Egypt and their forces have also entered our territory.
s626-rome_declare_on_egypt.png

King Gudea- Allow Caesar to clear the Egyptian scourge, but then make sure all of his units leave in a timely manner.

1705 A.D.
s632-mpp_egypt_carth.png

Military Advisor- Maybe it is time to finish off Hannibal.
King Gudea- No, I want all available troops going at Egypt or otherwise preparing to invade Arabia.
Military Advisor- Our garrisons along the border with Carthage should be able to hold off any incursions.
King Gudea- How are the preparations for Arabia going?
Military Advisor- The 1st and 3rd Army Groups are real close to the Arabian border and the 4th AG is preparing to embark on its short sea voyage. A group of destroyers, a submarine and a mighty battleship will be escorting the strike force.
King Gudea- It shant be too long before Abu is paying with blood!
