The Sumerian Empire

Ally yourself with rome.

Good idea, but that won't be possible, as you will see in the next update.:)

By the way, that laughing is not at you. It is at how this game can make a sudden turn that you aren't ready for.

Am currently working on a large double-post update. Will be done sometime this week.

Had something odd happen in the game. Artillery are supposed to target military units first, before buildings right? Well, my artillery started destroying the buildings before touching the military. How did this happen? Had a picture to upload that showed my artys had destroyed the sistine chapel. But, I couldn't get the picture to upload. It said 'image check been failed'. Can wonders be destroyed by artys?

I've had both of those happen to me, I think the explanation I heard was that the great wall was bugged, causing artillery to hit buildings when there were healthy soldiers and allowing you to destroy wonders/palaces.

Thanks, never heard of that bug before. The Egyptians built the Great Wall, so that must explain what is happening.

Prince Takeo, chronicler of a thousand battles, Master of the Guild of Philosophers, Royal Historian to the Court of the Great King Gudea, the gods be with him and may his reign be long, Greetings to you. The people have want of news of the great events which every day raise even higher the name of our Great King. Yet it has been many a day since last they heard of the prowess of the sons of Sumeria and many fear that mayhaps the gods have turned their faces from us and favored our enemies. We implore you to break your silence and once again lift up the peoples hearts that they may not fear the foeman and trust again in the Wisdom of their King. Sing to us again Great Prince the song of Victory. Sing to us again the tales of mighty warriors crushing all who flee before them. We beseech thee.

@7ronin- Wow! That is a very encouraging speech! You're a good writer.:)

I'm just about done with all the picture editing and there will be either 21 or 22 shots, so there will definately be a double-post. Then spend a couple of days writing it up and uploading the images, so maybe friday night.

Well Takeo, I fell away from the story a few months ago, and have now caught up. Great writing!

I had planned on posting two updates tonight, but the second one is not done yet. So, I will post the first one now, finish the second one and post it over the weekend. Sorry for the wait!

Foreign Advisor- Sir, the loss of almost half their cities and also a large number of their military units, has caused the Egyptian democracry to fall into anarchy. In order to quell the civil disorder and crack down on anti-war sentiment, Cleopatra has installed a communist regime.

1699 A.D.
Science Advisor- My King, I have brought you here for the first testing of our prototype tank and show a few things it can do on the battlefield.
King Gudea- Ok, show me what you've got.

They both stood on the edge of a large field, where the test was to take place. There were a number of obstacles & targets placed around the site, including a brick wall, some human-shaped targets and a large mud pit. At one end of the field was a large, steel behemoth with a man standing on top of it. After the science advisor waved a signal, the man climbed down into the machine and closed a hatch over his head. The engine was started up and black smoke belched from the rear end of the tank
prototype_tank.png

The treads started moving, shooting the tank towards the first obstacle-the brick wall. It picked up speed and burst thru the wall, scattering bricks everywhere. A small hill was next, with the tank losing no speed in it's climb over it. On the other side of the hill was a six-foot wide trench, which the tank rolled right over, the treads spanning the width with ease. The tank stopped and the two side-mounted guns each shot off a round, one hitting and destroying a target, the other missing it's target completely. The tank sat there for a few moments with nothing happening and then it finally lurched towards a rock outcropping. The treads gripped onto the sharp edges of the boulders and pulled the tank over the top. It momentarily became high-centered on one boulder, until the rock collapsed under the apparent weight of the tank. The steel titan then moved in the direction of the final obstacle and made a pathetic attempt to cross the mud pit, getting bogged down about half way thru.
Science Advisor- Well, we still have a few things to work out and we are also trying to work out a way to mount a rotating gun on the top.
King Gudea- That was very encouraging! Thank you for the demonstration.

1704 A.D.
Foreign Advisor- Great One, the Carthaginians have requested an audience. Will you see them?
King Gudea- No! From now on when a nation seeks peace, then you will tell them this- You will demand that all of their cities be turned over to Sumerian rule and their military will stand down & disarm. If they refuse, their cities will be burned to the ground and their soldiers will die. All territory will be ours, whether thru peace or conquest. It is their choice. As of now, I no longer recognize the sovereignty of any other nation. It is not my intention for Sumeria to be the leader of all nations, but for the whole world to be the Sumerian Empire!

Science Advisor- My King, I believe this knowledge of motorized transportation could be applied to a different platform. Sumerian engineers, working with information that has leaked out of Arabia, may be able to construct a machine similar to what is now being called a Fighter. Sir, is air power something you desire?
King Gudea- Yes, yes it is.
Military Advisor- We can't let our enemies control the skies!
King Gudea- We are powerful on the land & sea and soon we will be powerful in the air. No one will be able to stand up against us!

1710 A.D.
Military Advisor- Regimental Commando Team-2 has been wiped out, my King. The cavalry tried to stay on course and not get side-tracked with any battles, but they were all picked off, one by one. The infantry of RCT-1 has been unassailed and they are nearing their objective.
King Gudea- Knocking out Egypt's rubber production would definately help with our advancing thru their land.
Military Advisor- I agree. Since the war started, they have thrown almost 70 machinegun companies(units) at us. Cleopatra is training them like there is no tomorrow. Maybe she has finally seen the writing on the wall! (chuckle)

1715 A.D.
Foreign Advisor- Sir, Caesar has declared war on us, without any kind of warning and with no demands!
Military Advisor- The defenses on our eastern border are thin; shall we continue sending all forces against Egypt & Arabia?
King Gudea- Yes! Our garrisons on the eastern/Roman border will have to hold.
Military Advisor- Rome is still at war with Carthage, so once again Hannibal is a buffer for us. Our lone outpost on the Roman isle, Bastion, is a whole different story. The small garrison there is in big trouble. A total of 37 enemy companies, consisting of infantry, machinegunners and querillas, are approaching the city.

1716 A.D.
Military Advisor- For some time now, the crusaders have split their numbers between Bastion and Tacape. The impetuous crusaders at Tacape have marched towards Caesaraugusta and were shot to pieces by Roman artillery.
s639-crusader_advance-r.png

Military Advisor- The 15 crusader units at Bastion also went out to meet the enemy. They were able to surprise & destroy a Roman infantry company, that was disembarking from a galleon. But after that, surprise was no longer on their side and all the crusaders fell in a hail of bullets.
King Gudea- I wish they had not refused to upgrade to modern weapons, cause they would have lasted much longer in battle. Time may have passed them by, but it did not diminish their courage.

1720 A.D.
Military Advisor- RCT-1 has destroyed the rubber processing operation near Persepolis and is now heading south to the location by the Egyptian capital.
s642-rubber_pillaged-r.png

1725 A.D.
Military Advisor- The battalion of infantry at Bastion took out 16 Roman assault units, with a single infantry company claiming 9 of the 16 Roman units destroyed. But, there were too many Romans and the city eventually fell.
King Gudea- Caesar must like to pick on weak, isolated cities. If he wants to show us what he is made of, then that pasty-faced weasel needs to climb out of his bathing pool and bring his multitudes against our main core!
s643-bastion_captured-r.png

1735 A.D.
Military Advisor- Commander, the Romans have acquired the knowledge of Flight from Arabia. Roman bombers have attacked our border and killed many citizens in Bortras. After the bombing raid, a Roman formation moved into view. They have captured several Carthaginian cities along our border and are now going around the south end of our fortress wall.
King Gudea- Use our artillery to pound on them and then we can pick them off with our garrison troops. Continue to send all new tanks & infantry south to fight Egypt and eventually they will move on to Arabia. Our plans to take out Abu will not be postponed!

Takeo, I've read the story in two days. Really impressive! You've put a nice story around the growing of the Sumerian Empire.
Well done and I will follow it to the end!
Keep on going!

Don't Worry about anything. Sumaria shall conquer all. I must say, the Hittites and Byz have been pretty quiet for a while. Any idea why?
