The Thread Where We Discuss Guns and Gun Control

It's not that it's bad, in and of itself. But in the inner city the only people who do it are members of street gangs. It's not safe for people using it in the conventional sense that it was built for.

I frequently hang out in the inner city park by my house during early morning hours, and have never once been concerned for my safety.

Nobody is outlawing gun ownership. Only a tiny minority is even advocating that.

Given the circumstances, that's really weird.

Right. Because the typical Canadian city is just as bad as the ghetto in an American city.

So what's the issue then? The shooter was clearly inspired by Trump and his rhetoric, hence his attack and manifesto, is anyone seriously denying there's a link between Trump and white supremacy?
Clearly. But you called Berzerker a liar for something that was true.

"The manifesto promotes the white supremacist conspiracy theory of The Great Replacement.[36] The New York Times characterized it as racially extremist, noting the passage: "Hispanics will take control of the local and state government of my beloved Texas, changing policy to better suit their needs." It stated that Hispanics and their miscegenation with whites would cause the loss of purity of race, and criticizes strict gun control laws in Europe, arguing these would make them unable to "repel" immigrants.[14] It criticizes the Democratic Party and Republican Party, but stated that "at least with Republicans, the process of mass immigration and citizenship can be greatly reduced."[37] It warns "heavy Hispanic population in Texas will make us a Democrat [sic] stronghold".[22] It also states that the attack is meant to provide an "incentive" for Hispanics to "return to their home countries", thus dissolving "the Hispanic voting bloc" in the United States,[37] as well as the Democratic Party's appeal to an increasing number of Hispanics in the country would ultimately ensure Democratic Party dominance in the United States, a theory that has been promoted on right-wing radio shows.[36]"

Has Trump said these things?

Yes, he basically has in more words and with the help of Fox News. Fox News constantly goes on the the replacement paranoia. Gun laws are under constant threat of taking all the guns away from America loving patriots at any moment, just ask any of them, including Trump. Dem vs Repub part is obvious. Trump used family seperation (incontravertably a form of serious violence) to provide "incentive" for Hispanics "not to come here".

So yea, he has or his people who represent him have.

It's the other way around: The idea-free-populist Trump is echoing the right-wing talking points.

When you repeat them it is "echoing." When the president of the US repeats them it is, at the very least, "amplifying."

NY Times
Mr. Trump, for his part, said he was open to “bipartisan solutions” that would address gun violence, and blamed “the internet and social media” for spreading what he termed “sinister ideologies.”
Trump who basically lives on Twitter blaming social media? Interesting..

Maybe because many Dems like guns. Probably a minority of them but enough that our politicians prefer to be cowards. I don't have numbers at my fingertips.
I personally think it would be a no-brainer

Does the US have the most mass shootings?

Maybe.

No matter where we are on the mass shooting chart ... even one is too many.

Well I mean if someone made a YouTube video

But hey, it's from a guy who falsely displays a CNN logo so you just KNOW he's credible. That's if the poster who provided the link wasn't already a dead giveaway.

The Russians won the war on guns. There's just too much money behind the gun lobby. Most people don't choose to fight this battle, because as a hill to die on, it's fairly certain death.

That's interesting. I never actually considered that over 20% of this is basically the cost of being the western order's muscle. Ah well, here's to hoping that actually declines. I like pipes and dreaming now and again.

Things are going to get interesting. Did India actually just militarily full-annex Kashmir by ignoring its constitution today?

I guess a “new deal” can mean “new way of things” but even with “green new deal” it’s been to mean “new industry galvanizing, person employing money pump deal” so a gun new deal would be like the manufacture and distribution of guns for all. Guns like the M4A, so like M4A4A ;)

After Sandy Hook, I knew there would never be. If little five and six year olds getting slaughtered isn't going to change anything, nothing will.

Hehehe, yeah. I loved* the NPR article I listened to today going on and on about super rich progressives outlawing natural gas in new home construction and gasing on and on about electric hot water heaters and stoves and heat as if rubes haven't been using those for decades and being "behind the times." Though I suppose they did briefly mention us when they talked about the super energy intensive hot water heaters that don't have a reserve and the induction stoves instead of coils. Didn't care to go into people in cold climates and heating though. Was conspicuous. They're cooling on me with their angst and pride. If I have to listen to them put on one more Canadian comedian shuck whose central gag lines is "Republicans" they're going off my donor list. It's old, they're just being yuppie pricks at this point. Like the 2nd generation Pakistani American M.D. with nothing but howling gales of New York City audience contempt for his "bad type of surrender suspenders fat" Missouri patients. Bleh, I should have turned it off, but it's hard to give up something you've been loyal to.

That would never have happened if all those little five and six year olds had assault rifles!
