Unfortunately, during the times she lived, most of the Balkan Slavs also were part of the Byzantine Empire.

Hmm. Anna did seem like quite a daddy's girl.

Actually now I'm imagining her as some ax-crazy manipulative genius with a serious Electra complex.

A lot (most?) of those are bots I think.

Some of my most interesting conversations have been with bots. Maybe all my conversations are with bots.

Alooooone in the world!!!

On the other hand I charged in blurting madness. But that's just me.
Not just you. No.

Nah, the English tried to conquer France and when they failed they tried to pretend they'd never had anything to do with it.

What? Just what? The Plantagenets originally owned half of France. Tried to keep hold of it. And failed.

It wasn't the English. They were conquered by the Norman French, who then went on to lose their holdings in France. And who can blame them?

Alienor married Louis VII of France and then Henry II of England (son of Empress Mathilda). Other than her husband, she was the ultimate mother of all the Plantaganet kings.

It has to be said that the first person I thought of to ship with Anna Komnene was her father, Basileus Alexios I. Maybe I've been reading too much about the Byzantine monarchs. :shifty:

The Angevins were a bunch of idiots, but William the Conqueror wasn't an Anjou. He was a manly man descended from manly Vikings.

Oh look, Conan the Barbarian got a look in, too.

I never mentioned the Conqueror. Why bring him up?

Would it be legal to reproduce gameplay aspects of Beyond Earth in a Civ IV mod? I think even the "satellite layer" thing could be done by an experienced modder.

What does that mean? Ideas can't be copyrighted. I thought ideas were the only things that can be copyright.

You can't copyright a car, for instance, only the design of the car. Or maybe I have this wrong. I'm confused now. Very confused.

You're using a very loose definition of 'idea'.

Or playing too much CKII?

Though it's not an unreasonable train of thought, I mean Anna apparently fawns over how awesome her daddy is so much.

Hmm... Oh ya know for the Charlemagne expansion, how about CharlemagnexEmpress Irene?

Graffiti in Alcuin's classroom: Karl loves Eirene? :D

You're copyrighting (or patenting in other cases) the implementation of an idea, not the idea itself.
I can't e.g. patent the idea of a space elevator. I'd need to have a technical implementation of a space elevator (doesn't have to be working; the implementation doesn't have to be there, I just need to write it down).
Or another example: You can't copyright Mozart's works. But if you play one of Mozart's works, then you have the copyright on that one version which you've played.
Because the song was Mozart's, but you've played it. You can forbid other people to use your version, but you can't forbid them to play that song themself.
