What is the name of the opening theme music in this video:

?

What happened to ESPN's Mike and Mike that they have different shows? Did they just get tired of working with one another?

And how about Skip Bayless going to a different network? What's up with that?

You wouldn't happen to answer to such a description yourself, would you? :mischief:

So you get to rule the thread. You just have to tweak it a bit and you'll get the last post in the last page and boom, there you go, you ahve an entire serial thread for yourself.

You should have seen them, they were hilarious. By the end they were just random strings of letters and a link to MLB Live streams. However they all got deleted. I guess the MLB must have found their bot generators from the bot-industry equivalent of the company that handled Equifax's Security.

Why does march break seem to take place during a different week, depending on who you talk to? Can't we agree on a standard for when this thing should be?

We have. It is based on Easter, which is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21st. It isn't the same week every year, so sometimes you talk to people who aren't thinking of this year, but that's an issue of who you are talking to, not lack of a standard.

We had our march week break here where I work a couple weeks ago. In April. My friend's place of employment is off for march break this week. I did some cursory googling, and different schools in Canada seem to go with different weeks for this. This week seems to be popular, but not everybody is going with that it seems. None of this lines up with the week you are mentioning either

So it seems that if standards exist, people aren't following them

Dammit, how fast does language change. Now there's ‘cursory googling’. And it actually makes sense!

Where I grew up, their schools are doing this March Break this week. Midwestern Ontario.

I never listened to mike and mike but espn in general is floundering and keeps laying people off. I was much more interested in when they shut down bill simmons and his first website. I'm assuming mike and mike had just run its course and got caught up in that espn fray.

Skip bayless left a while ago, kind of old news, but he basically went on rants and espn got tired of him. While I don't really value skip's opinion or his style, he's definitely not a shill for sports like the way espn always backs the nfl and goddell (some of the stuff that got simmons fired), and I think he just go tired of it. If you want to do real sports reporting or unfiltered commentary ie say negative stuff about athletes and leagues, espn isn't really your platform. They protect their relationships too much.

Yeah, concession to atheists screaming that "Easter break" needed to be secularized has certainly turned out great, hasn't it?

My immediate curiosity though...you get a "March break" from work? In my entire life, post school, I have never heard of such.

At least in Germany (no clue about elsewhere) the school holidays are not uniforum, to prevent completely clogging up the highways.
Has probably also some other side effects, related to that.

I'm thinking "ESPN got tired of him" is not quite the same thing as "FOXSPORTS offered him 'biggest name on the network' money that ESPN didn't match." The second might be more accurate.

I'm not sure what you mean by "secularizing easter break". I admit that most people here don't associate march or spring break with easter or anything religious. But that's cultural and nothing the government pushed on us.

I actually don't get this week off, but the students do. So we are all here, but the campus is empty. So it's a bit of a light week for (some of) us.

That makes a lot of sense, I never thought of that. This is probably the best answer to my question

When I was a kid "Easter break" was always the week before Easter, and since that does vary year to year there were always a few teachers who complained since sometimes the spring term schedule would break at an inopportune time...like take a week off and come back directly to exams. BY the time my kids were kids "Easter break isn't appropriate anyway" had been incorporated into their complaints. I'd assume that in the years since the divorcing of 'spring break' from its Easter roots is pretty much complete, so, yeah some standardization of dates seems appropriate.

Yeah, religious holidays embraced by a secular government will eventually move in this direction, except I guess in cases where you have a clear religious majority, such as in Poland, where (at least when I was there) Easter was.. the religious easter, and we got both friday and monday off. No march break there though, but.. maybe we have one now, or maybe I just don't remember it

Hmmm, we could always argue that war is a crime. The British Empire had a half-hour-long war in Zanzibar IIRC.
