Have any of you ever met someone who talks about themselves in 3rd person?
Yes. Several people, and it confuses Lemon to no end.

Why do people bother about stuff, which does not affect them (or anyone else)?
Today I saw a few teenagers in the pedestrian precinct campaigning against transsexuals (until the police came; was not something official).
And I always wonder why.
It does not affect you, your health, your monetary situation, your success, your family, your friends, your community, your nation (unless the rate goes so high that birth rate becomes a problem, but let's not be silly).... so why bother?
(this is not the only topic where this question can be applied to, but it's the one where I found myself asking that question again)

EDIT: If you want to be on a moral high horse, then pick adultery, that at least affects someone negatively.

Because they are bigots. They get a rush from being harmful to others.

So...like sadism?
Well... guess that makes some sort of sense then :/.

It's sadism with a foundation in greed and selfishness.

All ideologies which are exclusionary are partly "I am a bad person and I get off on the harm to others". But, and possibly more importantly, all ideologies which are 'us against them' are fundamentally about 'us' having an artificial advantage over 'them'. If women can't vote, then men have more social and economic power. If blacks can't vote, then whites have more social and economic power. If Jews can't own property, then Christians have more social and economic power. If LBGT are excluded from anything they want to do, then straights have more social and economic power.

So bigotry has a foundation in greed and selfishness, as well as a foundation in just being a scumbag of a human being.

The moment you exit the womb you're bombarded with an endless stream of pressure telling you to compare your plate with your neighbour's. Couple that with most of your role models also propagating the position that their way is the best (and only right) way and you have a perfect subconscious system in place to perpetuate the problem. You lose the game before you even gain the ability to ponder being a player.

Don't most parents do that at some point when they're talking to their babies or toddlers? "Mommy loves you" or "Mommy wants you to pick up your toys"?

There's a scene in I, Claudius where Caligula refers to himself in the third person (after the point in his life when he decided he's really Zeus/Jove):

It looks like the allowed number of smileys/post has increased by quite a lot since migrating to XenForo!

Hmm... this could be fun. *evilgrin*

That's one heck of a smiley, since I'm really just looking at it for the first time. The slapper starts out as the mischievous smiley, the slappee starts out as the standard smiley: smiling. Then the slappee gets injured and frowns and the slapper turns to big grin.

My screen went black just now; I turned the device off then on again and now it's working properly. The same happened once last night or the night before and at the time I wrote it off as a fluke. Both times I was playing audio which wasn't stopped so it wasn't some sort of system crash.

Any help?

Solved just by turning the monitor off then on again?

If you have an Nvidia card, yeah. I was ready to panic when it happened to me but turns out it's a somewhat common issue with them.

It probably is an Nvidia. First I'll upgrade to Mint 18 and then I'll see what else happens.

Oh, and thanks.

Do we not have a thread on the russian nerve agent attack in the uk on the spy who helped write the Trump - russia dossier?

Apparently not.

and there is I think no thread here on the Italian Election last week

https://www.express.co.uk/news/worl...-over-twitter-italyisoverparty-latest-updates

or

on the President for Life vote in China.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-43361276

Both of which are important in their own way.

Considering world leaders:

USA: Donald Trump: hardly mister charming
China: Xi Jinping: president for life
Russia: Vlad Putin: vengeful poisoner?
