Then trek through the mountains.

There's also Switzerland, Austria, Southern Germany. Absolutely beautiful regions. Great for hiking and exploring.

Plus they dress like this:

Heavy clothing all around.
Looks like a gathering of SCA people attending court!

I have an outfit similar to the woman in the upper left group (the one wearing the gold sideless surcoat). Mine is in more muted colors, though.

Most of those outfits aren't any great hardship to wear, unless you're into armor and fussiness. Clothing didn't get ridiculous and uncomfortable until later (I'd have hated to live in Tudor times).

Why do you want to go to Iceland then?

Well, there are more tourist attractions than fjords... lots of mountains, waterfalls, springs, volcanoes. I realize that Norway has mountains as well, but I don't think their tourism is focused on that.

I'm trying to get away from civilization! Also want something more exotic than trees and hills, no matter how scenic they are.

There are some quite remote parts of Southern Germany!

Lived in Georgia and Florida for half my life. I've seen enough trees. :p

Come to California. I'll drop you a hundred miles out in the desert. Not a tree to be found.

He wants cold though. Best to dump him on the top of Shasta or Half Dome or somesuch.

Iceland sounds like the best option IMO.

Why is a municipal authority in charge of funerals and cremations in Cities: Skylines?

In the US they aren't so much in charge of funerals, as they own the cemeteries. Church lot cemeteries used to be a thing. Maybe they still are, some places. But for the most part the cities have taken that over. Otherwise no one would do it.

I don't remember funeral parlours being established and/or owned by the city either back in the Philippines or here in Canada. Is that how they do it in Europe?

I'm pretty sure that's the case in Germany.

In that case, may I recommend the Moon? There are no trees, it's cold, definitely exotic.

It's got mountains, though, so maybe that's a deal-breaker.

:p

He did mention flying free on Delta, and I think that's not on their regular service. Good thought though.

The high desert is more than bitter cold enough to satisfy all possible desires in that department. One overnight in the open should suffice.

You guys are aware I live in the Negev? I mean, my town is in a fertile area, but it's an hour's drive from Mars-like terrain.

If it's an hour's drive it isn't exotic. Not all deserts are the same, so a California desert trip seems to meet your requirements. Exotic, check. No trees, check. Cold, check. Away from civilization, check. And on Delta's regular service.

Completely forgot Alaska. How does it compare to Iceland?

Well, it's a lot bigger. Beyond that I'd guess there are a lot of similarities. And Anchorage is definitely serviced by Delta.

When I worked in LA and would overdose on urban life, I'd drive north to the high desert, through Palmdale (too big), through Lancaster (still too big) to Mojave (ahhh!). I'd get a room in the Motel 6, run across the highway for pizza, and lie awake listening to the freight trains rumble past. It was Heaven. :)
