Are they meeting to date each other? Or are they meeting to take classes and understand how to fix their stuff without the need of a man?

If it's the former, maybe I should spend more time at Home Depot. :mischief:

Actually, I've taken some classes at Home Depot. They were very good at helping me get over my fear of kitchen faucet repair.

I don't live in Alberta
:p

I heard people talking about it and saw some posts about it on my facebook feed now. Women meeting up at home depot where they.. learn how to do stuff I guess, how to bake things maybe.. no that doesn't make sense, does it? How to build things? I don't know. They do something and it's a social group activity. Maybe they also drink?

Basically imagine paint nite but instead of painting it's home depot. That's what it is.

Yeah, that's what we did with the plumbing class. It was teaching women how to fix faucets and toilets and things like that. Kind of a social event, but we learned things too. It was fun.

Nice. It was confusing for a while because that's not a usual place for people to socialize like that
You need to watch more TLC shows like Trading Spaces. They usually teach the women how to use power tools and the men how to use a sewing machine. It's not unusual for at least one of the carpenters in each episode to be a woman.

Not that I learned what I know in a hardware store. For me it was in the scene shop at the Arts Centre where I was working on productions of "The Boyfriend" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

The last time I was ever in Home Depot was when I bought my stepladder. The only way to get it home was on the bus, and I had to hurry... so I took the direct route through some tall grass. In the evening. In the middle of summer.

When the bus came I have no idea how many mosquitoes got on with me, but the driver was in such a hurry to get out of there, he told me to sit down and not worry about paying any fare. So I got a free ride (and quite a few mosquito bites). It was awkward carrying that ladder home on the bus, but I made it and still have it. It fits nicely next to the fridge in the kitchen.

The Venn diagram has high overlap...
Hmmm, yes. At least down here, I find most of the arguments proposed by pro- and anti-abortion groups to be ridiculous. I also think that, if somebody is in a situation bad enough to do something as drastic as aborting a pregnancy, it's ridiculous to think that you can help by putting that person in jail and making her a gang member and/or a drug addict in the process (assuming she survives) is anywhere near a sensible choice. But that's little me, who thinks crime should be cured, rather than merely punished, which makes me a DANGEROUS THINKER™.
The Paradox forums would probably have many more people who could answer modding questions.
They would certainly help him with his… *puts on glasses* byz-ness. (I might have been watching too much CSI recently).

Hey, stop telling such greeky puns!

I need some good getaway ideas for fall (late october or so). The wife really wants a long weekend, 3-5 days, for our anniversary, but we can't afford much. So it's gotta be something like $200-300 a day. That maybe sounds like a lot, but not when you consider most hotels in vacation areas are 150-250 a night, plus a dinner out each night. And it needs to be like 10 hours from southeast michigan cus flying is way too expensive.

So what's some stuff? We have been wine tasting all along michigan's west coast and been to niagara falls. I have not been to Toronto but I think that would be too expensive. I was looking at some cottages in different areas in Ohio like hocking hills, but it's fall, not summer, so I'm not sure what we would do besides hike. If it were summer maybe we could swim, canoe, etc but fall I'm not sure.

She wanted to drive all the way to virgina beach but I think it's too expensive, too far and not going to be hot enough to justify going to a beach.

I was going to immediately suggest Niagara Falls at that price point. :(

You can kayak in the fall!

Something outdoorsy is probably your best best. It's cheaper than a big city and it's going to be October which is the perfect time for the leaves changing colors. I'm fond of northern Michigan, there are all sorts of great restaurants and parks up there. If you want something more civilized you could probably check out Interlochen, Traverse City, or Mackinac Island to see if there is some event going on.

What's your starting location?

He said southeast Michigan so probably the Midland area?

So then the coasts and the mountains are both kind of far away. Late October is past tourist season for Maine, so if that's not too far for you, be cheaper and less crowded then. Same would be true of some of the northwest national parks. But you risk running into bad weather.

Minneapolis/St Paul have a lot of neat museums and cultural activities, but late October is close enough to winter it is getting too cold for most of our summer/fall outdoor activities and not quite cold enough for winter activities. Duluth is also pretty and cheaper than Minneapolis/St Paul with a lot of neat museums and a very walkable downtown, but late October might be too close to November storms season.

In Canada late October is after Thanksgiving, so some tourist places will probably be closed (the usual tourist season in many parts of Canada is Victoria Day through Thanksgiving).

Still, there must be some interesting things to see in Toronto, and while I've never been there, there should be some hotels that aren't insanely expensive.

What do the Canadians Thankgsgive for?
