The World Turned Upside Down II

We need to know what our next plans are for the construction of this project please, tell me via a private source.

OOC: That story sounds a lot cooler in my head when I picture Three Dog saying it. Awesome stuff.

My exact thoughts.

How many more of your people must die before your evil government comes to its senses and gives us what is rightfully ours? Until our lands are given to us, more and more of your people will die. Seeing as the government does not do the reasonable thing and set us free, it is up to you to demand them to set us free. We are warning you, this is only the beginning. Grant us our freedom, or suffer the consequences.

Look at who your government turns to for help. They seek not the aid of republics, but of the Communists. While they may say this war is for "freedom", it is clear they wish only to establish another South American Communist dictatorship. While in the UFS, citizens are free to speak their minds, even when it is against the government, such a luxury will not be afforded to once those who rule you establish themselves as the Politburo for the CLS. If you continue to support the rebel government, you will find yourselves under the iron grip of Communist rule. We beg you to reevaluate your loyalty to those who have deceived you into breaking away from the greatest republic in the world.

We find it amusing that you call on all Catholics to support a government that turns to godless Communists for aid, while they slaughter the good, Christian people of the UFS

We warned you, quite clearly, that selling technology that we hired you to produce is a treasonable offense. The US vs. Ford case made a clear legal precedent in that area, not to mention that you were specifically warned not to share any sensitive technology with out our approval. You will be tried and, if proven guilty, punished accordingly.

We DID NOT sell UFS technology nor did we reveal any information, sensitive and insensitive, to anyone.

@EQ: How is the trial thing going to work out?

@darthnader, you're more than welcome to.

@dld and TLJ: THe charges of treason are based on actively aiding the Soviet Union through the research, and considering how they've been aiding the CLS, the UFS government considers it treason. As for the trial, it will be held NPC within the next update. We'll see how that goes.

Regarding hyICE: I believe the fund was about $20B short when all was added up. I'm not completely sure how that happened anymore. I've been forced to delete old orders from the sheer volume of PMs that this NES generates.

Regarding the map: Some work still needs to be done of course, adding cities and so forth. Capitals of course are already on it. Personally I like this map because of the increased detail avaible for islands and chains across the globe, plus I've been getting tired of the same ole map. If enough of ye dislike it though, we may switch back. I think I will be switching some of the colors around as some are too similar for my own tastes.

@Milarqui: what PM did you send to the MEC? If it was before the update, I would appreciate if you could resend. Also Tunisia agreed, discussed that with warman prior to the update and it should be in the organization section underneath the tech tree.

Regarding the CLS seccession: I believe the information regarding reasons is in the background thread. If not, a short summary would be: The US government lied and orchestrated the Congressional Massacre that led to World War 3, the US government does not allow citizenship or voting rights without the ability to speak English, and the US system forces english culture down the throats of the Hispanics.

@Haseri: We are at modern tech, not chronological tech.

We would accept an expansion of a defensive military alliance from the basis of the Comintern.

OOC: Great update as expected. :)

To: The Communist International
From: Argentina

Argentina is pleased that the Communist world has continued to develop and co-operate with each other during these troubled times.

Argentina would like to open talks about the possibility of expanding the Communist International into a military alliance to counter the growing number of alliances being developed throughout the world and to ensure the continued security and prosperity of our great nations.

We would also like to open talks with the Communist International about research and development within the Communist world to ensure that our great nations can exceed the capitalist nations in the future.

We eagerly await your thoughts on these matters.

We support expanding the Communist International into a defensive military alliance.

(OOC: I thought research funds were not allowed in this NES.)

Research funds are not allowed in this NES, but you are allowed to give money to other people to research stuff for you.

To UFS
From CLS

The UFS is in no place to dictate whom the CLS negotiates with. The fact that you call yourselves the "Greatest Republic in the World" is laughable, and an insult to all true republican governments in the world today. A true Republic would not see its entire legislative body murdered by the executive. The UFS resembles more of a autocratic dictatorship than a true republic. Save your rhetoric on democracy and liberty for someone more naive.

To Andalusia
From CLS

To clear up some confusion, we would just like to remind the Andalusian government that the CLS is a organization against the lack of a democratically-elected government to represent our people. When whole legislative bodies are murdered at the order of one man, there is no democracy. We ask that you re-evaluate the situation and come to the correct conclusion: the UFS is nothing but a manikin to hide the dictatorship of the presidency. According to your own philosophy, the CLS is more akin to the revolutionaries of 1776 than the UFS...for we are the ones fighting for justice, for representation, and for freedom.

From: Andalusia
To: UFS, CLS

Well, it's certain that we lacked information regards the reasons why the CLS decided to segregate, as few people have been able to travel through the whole former UFS due to not having enough money or preferring to travel to other places, and even fewer that work in the Government. Our ambassador to Washington D.C. certainly didn't know what was the situation in the southern states as he tends to stay in the capital, and the consuls in Bogotá and Havana have been severely reprimanded for not providing the information regarding the enfranchisement of the people before.

President Reagan: while you weren't part of the Government when the UFS was formed, I think that President Jasón of the CLS is right, at least in the part regarding the fact that voting rights are only conceded to those able to speak in English. I am quite sure that, should you go to New York, there would be several hundreds of people who don't have much ability when talking in English and yet they can vote. And as for the accusations of forcing your culture onto the Southerns would be much like if Québecois culture was forced on your native California. You wouldn't have liked it, no? Right now, I understand the reason why the CLS has seceded, but not the reason why you have decided to go on full-out war against them.

President Jasón: it's now that I understand the plight your people had been put through before your secession. However, secession wasn't the only way you could have gotten what you wanted: you could have filed a protest in the Congress (considering that you would make up a 20% of the population, said protests would have been heard, unless I am mistaken), you could have arranged manifestations against the law that forced knowledge of English as one of the requirements to be able to vote, the southern states could have put through a state law that helped the teaching of the local culture to be considered at the same level or over the English culture... and much more. (OOC: Who was the one to declare war on the other, anyway?) And even if war was unstoppable, I think that the way you seem to be going, after asking for help to the Communist dictatorships around the world, will assure that your own country becomes something even worse than what you separated from.

With all of this, I am sure that you will be saying that we could hardly know anything about rights when we are an actual dictatorship, but...
Spoiler :
there are plans to transform Andalusia into a Republic.

Anyway, in the end, I will just say that I, our country and the whole world hope that you stop warring each other and reach a peaceful agreement, be it for re-integration into the UFS provided certain laws change or for complete separation between the two nations. In either case, Andalusia offers its soil as a place to hold the peace conversations.

Yours faithfully,
General Manuel Arquillo
Chief of the Andalusian State

OOC: TLJ, I hope that you don't get angry and cancel the trade agreement I had proposed before, I was just pointing out the possibilities the conflict between UFS and CLS could have gone to without going to war. Also, any word on the returning of the Canaries Islands to Andalusia?

@EQ: I know that I won't be able to ever get it, but... which technology do you have to research in order to get the Daly-Class CV?

@dld and TLJ: THe charges of treason are based on actively aiding the Soviet Union through the research, and considering how they've been aiding the CLS, the UFS government considers it treason. As for the trial, it will be held NPC within the next update. We'll see how that goes.

And I'd trust that proper due process is followed. In order for Lockheed's CEO to be found guilty, purpose to directly aid the enemy of UFS with intent to war must be proven beyond reasonable doubt. And plus all the defense brief laid out on my previous post.

dld, you forget that TLJ is playing as the entire polity for America. To trust that proper due process is followed assumes that he isn't trying to win a war by any means necessary and keep all of those who aid his enemies - with or without proof - down.

Correct me if I'm wrong, EQ, but since Board of Directors accused the CEO, I'm assuming that you only play the leader, not the entire thing. And EQ said that adjudication will be made by NPC (assuming federal judges).

@Milarqui: Thanks, I forgot about the tech for the Daly. I'll add that with the next update.

Yes, dld is correct, Congresses and so forth can go against the ruler.

dld has much faith in democracy, but we all know TLJ to have gone against such before.
