Things you want to do before you die?

Depends. I surmise I could keep asking questions forever, if I could get them answered, then immortality would be worth it.
What if nobody could answer them? And there are only so many questions you can ask before it gets repetitive.

I don't think Tungsten is known for its strength or light weight, but for its high melting point.

Perfect for hurling it through the atmosphere.

My top five.

1. Being able to support myself, family and friends comfortably.
2. Being able to talk properly.
3. Become a confident person.
4. Becoming moderately famous as someone in art or music.
5. Design or build a plane or a rocket.

Financially? :hmm:

In every way, so if it's necessary to support them financially, then yes. I hate to be in a position where a family member or a close friend needs help and I can't do anything to help them because I'm too poor, weak, scared or insecure.

Get a PhD in Physics and/or Astronomy
See a Supernovae (Preferably Eta Carine or Betelgeuse)
First, what point are you at now? If you went the physics route, would it still be somewhat astronomy related, or have you just not quite figured out where you want to specialize yet?

Second, Betelgeuse going Supernova would be awesome. I don't recall whereabouts/how visible Eta Carinae is...

In Undergrad. Not quite sure what to specialize in yet, but I have the rest of Undergrad to figure that out, and Grad school to pick.

Eta Carinae is in the Southern Hemisphere. It's a strange star, cause it has lobes, and emits natural laser light IIRC. So scientists think it's close. (But that of course, means this century, or maybe not)

1.own a real bed, not some silly sofa bed
2.get my drivers license
3.visit Benkelman, Nebraska
4.learn how to talk to girls
5.lose three pounds
6.get a job that pays more then $2000 a year
7.get an autograph from a local weatherman
8.eat lobster at a Red Lobster
9.get a rad 80's hair cut
10.I want to move out of my parents house and in to someone else's parents house

More like $2 am I right?

I have a lot of things I want to do, but unfortunately I feel uncomfortable saying them here.

oh you hound dog you

I want to read every literary work of one (1) author, raise some sort of family, spend a few years in Japan and Switzerland, be at the forefront of eliminating some infectious disease, and maybe publish some literary work.

I've done 2, 4 (sort of), 5 and 6 (working at a college cafeteria. :p ).

Honestly, in the US 2 is very easy to do. As long as you don't run a stop sign and/or a red light, or hit someone, you pass pretty much. It's disturbing.

sadly even though it's a mock list most of it's true.

#10 was definitely my favorite.

And it's actually a fine list. It is, after all, how you live your life.

You could do either in grad school with just a physics degree. Probably with just an astronomy degree too, given the amount of overlap between the programs.

I started out wanting to go into astronomy, and decided to get the physics too (double major) because it was only a few more courses, and now I work in physics - funny how that works sometimes. I haven't yet decided if I'll go back for a MSc & PhD anytime soon.

I stumbled across a show on TV just last night that was talking about Eta Carinae. Definitely a weird star system (binary). It being in the Southern Hemisphere would probably be why I had no idea where it was.

Well, to be honest, I'll take a Physics degree first, cause that is a bit more broad, and limits my choices less. However, double majoring in Astronomy is only like 4 more classes, so that's not terribly difficult to do both.

But yeah, if all goes according to plan, and the weather is wrong about tomorrow, then I get to cross off solar eclipse off of my list of things to do tomorrow. :)
