Finally having tamed the upload system, and having illustrated part of why trolls reingeth not at CFC, I like to again thank MantaRevan for his kind words about the community, civility, and atmosphere at CFC, which, at least sometimes, allows for productive discussions. Such is Thunderfall's intent for his house of civilization. Members should also notice, stickied at the top of OT, our second survey about improving the Off Topic Forum.

Not to belabor the point, but... well, to belabor the point, the staff has been getting a lot of thoughtful and helpful feedback via the survey answers, and we'd welcome more. Think of it like voting - you can complain all you want about your elected politicians, but it is more helpful to register your complaints in the polling booth.

Who's the highest educated poster in this forum?

According to this thread, we have about 6 doctorates with 4 along the way (I'm in the latter category). Numbers for Master's degrees are about double (19 to 10 total). That's assuming people are being truthful in reporting themselves, though.

I can't imagine everybody is being truthful. I'm a rocket scientist!

I can't either. But given what I know about my fellow posters and some of the mods (I've been visiting these boards since 2002, maybe 2003, but I was a lurker for a long time and didn't sign up until 2006), it's believable.

He is kind of right, most other forums I've visited are varying degrees of terrible. CFC-OT is certainly a step up.
Although a lot of smaller forums are much more polite and freindly you just don't get such a large selection of interesting people.

Edit: I can't think of anywhere else where Commies, Libertarians, Enviromentalists, Evangelists and so on (and even a few pseudo-Nazi's) could remain as relatively civil as you lot do .

Pardon my French, but it's because we have some damn good staff here.

I like that the threads here are entertaining, if not informative, to say the least.

I left this forum originally because of the many trolls that started posting and I felt that CFC's intellectual level dropped.

I haven't encountered as many trolls since returning the last few days though. Remains to be seen if they are there in hiding, or if the mods actually took care of them for once.

The trolls are still here, they're just less conspicuous in OT lately (sadly I can't say the same for some other subforums).

The forum engages me and enlightens me. I still take baby steps towards becoming smarter. I'll probably stick with this forum until it has served its purpose for me.

Truth to be told, though, I'll probably never leave. I'm not smart enough.
