Thread to Report Issues with new xenForo version 2.2

My take on points is to either keep having incremental gains based on what we already have, or to remove the system entirely. It is pointless gamification, yes, but the feature exists and has some thresholds already. There is no real difference between 100 likes and 1000 likes, except that one number is bigger, and that's the only reason points exist to begin with: to get bigger numbers. So if there's a trophy for 100 likes, or 1000 posts, or whatever, then it makes just as much sense to have one for something more as well.
"One hundred beellion likes! Activate the bots, Number Two! I think we'll need a lot of them to take over this two-bit forum for the Evil Empire!" :P

Is this site somehow available anymore - or will it be????

I just went into my preferences and shut off all alerts that referred to "likes". In my opinion they are garbage.

Thanks for adding a dark theme.
It's become a Matrix-lite colour scheme.

Edit: the alerts feature no longer marks the difference between read and unread alerts.

Second edit: also in general it looks unfinished. A lot of dividing lines between boxes, buttons, posts, etc. are not displayed.

A custom title system might be fun, for example I always liked the one in the Total War forums, which is based on "reputation" (basically users can award reputation for posts)
Would it fit the CFC culture? Personally I really doubt it. Total War had (has?) a more open trolling culture, but that also means that there is different moderation, and it leads to no observable tampering of the system for clique purposes.
I instead propose awarding titles only for post count :p (meh, I don't really care)

Honestly I would prefer this forum change as little as possible from what I am used to. Changes are something that should only ever happen if there is a pressing need for them or if the new is so massively advantageous that it can not be ignored.

Hmmm I don't know what happened but https://modiki.civfanatics.com seems to be unaccessible now since this change?

Thunderfall fixed it, in an apparently long and painful process. Please let us know if you encounter any issues.

Related: Same issue for the civ2 scenario league, he said we will tackle that next.

What's wrong with the subscriptions?
As I have already posted, we have problems with the subscriptions.
1) all threads appear to have been marked as unread.
2) the subscriptions page is supposed to only show unread threads. Instead, all threads are shown so actually keeping up with one's subscriptions is harder. This was not the case with the earlier iteration of Xenforo, nor was it with vBulletin.

There doesn't appear to be a way to collapse the sidebar (in part or in whole) like on the previous forum.

If you think I even pay attention to who's online, you've missed the point of my post. ;)

Update. I made a greesemonkey script that adds a full screen reply button for my self. I am going to test it for a while and see if it works well. If yes, and of course if it is permitted by the staff here, I might release it for anyone who needs it.
The results are still not ideal but the reply box is quite a bit larger and of course all the standard liability wavers and disclaimers apply. But it's something. :)

Ooh a greasemonkey jobber. I may have a job for you!

Changes are something that should only ever happen if there is a pressing need for them
The pressing need was to get away from an outdated, insecure version of our software!

However as we are now on the Cloud version you can expect regular changes in line with the modern "continuous improvement" philosophy. If you take issue with that philosophy then I have considerable sympathy with you but we lost that battle at least 10 years ago .....

I was talking about changes to the interface, forum mechanics etc. As in, moving away from making the "new" forum as close a copy of the old as you can and toward something different.
If you had to change the underlying software fine. That's a technical thing. But don't get carried away with all the shiny new toys and turn this forum into something completely different than its nature is. Instead, focus on making sure that for us the end users the experience stays as close to the original as is possible and keep it there.

There is absolutely nothing worse than an application of any type, be it a program or a web forum whose interface and functionality constantly changes. All it ever does is lead to an uncomfortable chaotic mess with which nobody is comfortable. And I would hate to have this place turn out that way. It would be a very sad death to this forum and my decade and a half enjoyment of it if you went down that path.

When you have a working version of Dark Cfc (or was it called Black Cfc?) skin, please make an announcement somewhere so that we can be aware :)
If you look, there is one there now.
