Thread to Report Issues with new xenForo version 2.2

The Civ 5 Slimeys are nice actually, but there are a lot of Civ 6 Stuff that have their own Unique Icons (not covered in CFC's set of Smileys) + It would be nice to have a Unique set of Civ6 Icons/Smileys (finally after 6 years since its release) which fit together design wise as well as thematically in a Civ6 Post.

And yes, Leaderhead Smileys are very popular, especially on the Civ Discord Servers, the cartoony Civ6 ones can be very expressive.

--------------------
I can easily provide the individual Textures of the Civ6 Icons (cut and ready) if you want some help with that. Just tell me the size, resolution and format needed (and the limit of how much you can add, if there is one). I would certainly be happy to help implementing the Civ6 roster of Icons (most of them if it was up to me lol).
Any reaction to the attached file/set at the linked post? It has the disadvantage of I don't have six, and that's all random stuff cut from pre-publicity, plus a few I animated.

-I'm certainly game for whatever if the management will commit/set out druthers about size, number limit, and such...

The slip, it is Freudian!
 It might seem so, but it's not the case. Politician Civfanatic word of honour.

Oh, I missed those, just read the post preview text without entering to the thread post.
They are pretty nice actually, for not having VI you made a decent Job!

As said, we will need to discuss that again. Adding a new set of smileys is not an easy decision, because later changes would break things in the forum.

Not gonna reread thru 20 pages so sorry if this is a repeat.
I agree that the love smilie looks ridic and should just be a heart and that the lol smilie is a bit over the top.
That said, this seems like a universal problem with the direction emojis have taken, and I'm sure many civ 6 players enjoy cartoonish graphics
Personally I despise the expanded emoji list. Kinda loses the character of the limited but long-term emojis we have. The vast majority of them are completely useless (EVERY FLAG OF THE WORLD?) not to mention some are.... problematic

Take it with a grain of salt though, I'm the type of person who hasn't upgraded my iphone in 10 years.
These smileys are the default unicode smileys, as you have them in every messenger.
I actually dont know if we have more options there than simply turning them on/off.

I suspect there is a way to add custom CSS that replaces specific emojis with blank spaces or an alternative. However, my cursory search came up empty: it only gave me results for disabling symbol -> emoji conversion, which isn't the issue here.

It is possible to convert an emoji to code in CSS in order to change its colour, so I imagine it is equally possible to target a specific emoji and hide it when it is used. I am not sure how to do this, though.

We have a middle finger smiley?:rotfl:

There are worse smileys that have ever been created, ones absolutely not suitable to post here.

The same guy who created the base for Spud, daisy smileys, my Doctor Who set, some really beautiful art backgrounds for smileys... also created some rather pornographic ones. Balamm had a bit of a dirty turn of mind sometimes...

Whatever smileys that get added, please consider the code used (I try to memorize those to make them quicker to use). On another forum I belong to, the owner didn't consider that, so now when certain words are typed, we get the smiley regardless of whether it makes any sense in the context of the sentence. This has made my sig there look ridiculous, as a gigantic smiley got plopped into the middle of a sentence. I can't see most of the forum smileys on the theme I'm using there so I never noticed it until I tried a different one.

I vote turn them off!

Will adding news smilies seriously break stuff?

I just had a look, and I like the nature and food ones. Could they stay, and just add a rule that anyone using the ones expressing profanity or sexism will be treated as an infractible trolling offense?

Unfortunately, when you add new smileys you don't get to specify exactly where they go in a table, or at least this was the problem with the Invision forums I ran. I had to make some of them unclickable and move them to the back (still accessible but it would take a couple of extra steps to find them) so the immediately clickable smiley table wasn't so distorted. And when you install new ones they appear in reverse order to the order you install them, so you need to keep that in mind as well (again, going by Invision; other forums might work differently).

It's also crucial for each smiley to have a unique code and to not forget to make some part of it a punctuation mark that won't be confused for a real word, or you'll get a situation where a smiley will suddenly come up in the middle of a sentence or word it was never intended to be part of... and make sure that if the autocensor is set to "loose" rather than "exact" that no smiley code contains any part of what's in the autocensor (that happened on one of my forums and I had to fix it pronto... what a embarrassing mistake!)

Smilies have been added (e.g. with each new civ game) and also removed (e.g. the suicide one) over the years without much trouble. Some have actually been relabeled, e.g. :shakehead became :shake:.
There are some problems such as those Valka mentions regarding unique spellings and not mixing them up with actual often-used words, but that's not that terrible.

The biggest trouble that's actually been mentioned is the political problem of having everybody making a personal request for this or that smiley.

The matter of making personal requests is that it should be for something useful and beneficial. That's why we now have  and :grouphug:. I asked Petek to install these, as a way for people to express friendly greetings or show support for someone who might be going through a rough patch or experiencing grief.

I suspect this is why the oft-requested cheerleader smiley has never been installed. Most examples are sexist and really insulting to women, and are really only good for troll posts. They would not add anything positive or beneficial.

There are a few others I'd like to request that I think would be useful, but won't sidetrack this thread with them.

In the past week, I've been getting a lot of "504 Gateway Time-out" error pages on CFC (and just CFC). It usually resolves within ~10 minutes.

I've gotten those randomly long before the move to XF2.
Nothing recently other than what seems to be ad servers failing to respond causing CFC to not load. Again, it takes 10 mins or less to resolve.
I'll post the exact problem when i get it again.

By now I actually like the "haha" reaction.
I haven't used it in a trolling way, and you can always report a repeat offense and hopefully some mod will be awake and do stuff.
It certainly is a good reaction to have in the joking threads, or when a joke is said, or even as a non-trolling ironic reaction (eg to a post that says something against the use of the haha reaction) :p

No, the main problem would be if decided that we do no want to/should not/cannot keep them, because if we remove them, you end up with lots of messy looking posts. So we want to be really sure.

Today I keep getting

Had I known about the change, I would’ve totally stopped with “asking” “how much waiting” and changed my profile pic sooner, because now it’s stuck the way it is. >:(

In account details, if I click on my avatar it asks me if I want to upload a file to change it. This doesn't happen for you?

edit - looking into it. You can send me a PM an explain what you need to have done and I will try to edit it for you.
