Well, yes. TYL that the Roman Senate spent a lot of its time speaking Greek (Cæsar's dying words weren't ‘tu quoque, fili?’ or ‘et tu, Brute?’, but ‘και σύ, τέκνον;’) and many Latin words are calques from Greek.

I also have read quite a bit about Republican Rome and don't remember any author claiming the Senate conducted significant business in Greek at that time. I find it likely that whatever Caesar's last words were, they were in Latin.

TIL that Blizzard has released the non-remastered original version of StarCraft and BroodWar for free. This should definitely run on the old XP rig. And possibly, with some tweaking, on Linux as well. It's after midnight. How am I going to sleep?

Caesar is also said - by Plutarch - to have spoken the die is cast line in greek. «Ἀνεῤῥίφθω κύβος».

Passage which is 'of relevant' reads:

"Ἑλληνιστὶ πρὸς τοὺς παρόντας ἐκβοήσας, «Ἀνεῤῥίφθω κύβος», διεβίβαζε τὸν στρατόν."

("Speaking greek to those present, saying "The die is cast", he was administering the army's move") etc. I suppose it means he spoke greek to his officers, not the main latin rubble

Isn't that supposed to be optative/imperative mood? ‘Let the die be cast’?
