Hey, I've been playing this mod for quite some time today and I was just wondering, my dad has a good "ol' English" voice and has had a bit of experience in voice acting for a couple of mods already (e.g. the new EU Commander in the Extreme Realism mod v1.8 for Battlefield 2142 to replace the American-sounding one).

He uses a Samson Q1U, a pretty good microphone for voice acting.

I can send a few audio previews of the first couple of quotes from the new technologies in the mod (Toolmaking, Storytelling, Metal Lore etc), that's if you're interested of course.

(I have X-Fire and Steam if you want to contact me faster:

Steam: JinRenegade12
X-Fire: jinrenegade)

That's great news! We actually have several quotes that lack voice acting altogether currently. If you are interested, I will supply you the quotes. Of course, you are welcome to remake the existing ones as well.

That would be good, it would save me time from having to play through the entire mod to get the quotes haha. I will get my dad to do the first ones today and I will then send them to you tomorrow.

:goodjob: The voice acting is great and the sound is quite clear - although there is an audible hum accompanying the voice (I don't know, maybe it's Youtube glitch). If you would care to redo all custom tech quotes, you'd do us a huge favor. Especially if you start with the following quotes and techs that don't have any voice acting yet:

Infantry Logistics
"Make Do" - French Foreign Legion 2nd REP

Mass Conscription
“Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state.” - Thomas Jefferson

Torpedoes
"Damn the torpedoes, Full speed ahead!" - Admiral David Glasgow Farragut

Weapon Smithing
"He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword" - New Testament

Weaving
“Begin to weave and God will give you the thread”

Commerce Code
"Free trade is not based on utility but on justice" - Edmund Burke

Jet Propulsion
"It will free man from the remaining chains, the chains of gravity which still tie him to this planet. It will open to him the gates of heaven. " - Wernher von Braun

Modern Aerial Warfare
"We're going to bomb them back into the Stone Age. " - General Curtis E. LeMay, USAF

Combined Arms
"Strike hard and fast and do not separate" - General Heinz Guderian

Road Building
“A well-beaten path does not always make the right road”

Tolls and Taxes
"'In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." - Benjamin Franklin

As you probably know, we need mono MP3s with size no greater than 200k.

I think that is something to do with the microphone, not YouTube. But hey, the hum isn't that loud, or is it?

Sure thing, I'll get my Dad to do those aswell.

I didn't know that. Good thing the ones done so far are already MP3, mono and below 200kb!

He's great! Absolutely great! I, like Walter, would love to have him do all of the techs.

I'm also a little concerned about the hum. It's unnoticeable if the volume is low enough, but many people will play with their volume turned up enough that it becomes pretty prominent. It sounds like a noise reduction filter has been applied which pulled the noise out of the quiet parts but not out of the speaking parts.

O.K, I'll try to find a way to get rid of or reduce that background hum. Alternatively, if anybody can tell me how to edit out or reduce the amount of hum in these voice recordings then that'll be a great help.

Excellent, I found a great comparrison video about WavePad vs Audacity on Noise Removal. WavePad (the program I use, most of the time) seems to be the best one in getting rid of the Noise. At first I was going to use Audacity (another audio program I sometimes use, mainly to make .ogg files since my WavePad won't allow me), but infact it was a LOT worst (loads of artifacts after the Noise Removal effect had been made).

EDIT: I just tried it on the voice files, absolutely no hum. I'm going to upload these ones and a new tech advancement (Architecture) to go with it in about 4 minutes.

EDIT #2: O.K, here is the link to the ones that don't hum:

!No Hum!

Excellent! They work great in game. Awaiting the next batch. :goodjob:

One piece of advice: please make the voice a bit louder - compared to vanilla quotes, the voice sounds a bit too quiet (the ding is exactly the right loudness, so it is the voice that has to be a bit louder, not the MP3 as a whole).

Hey, these quotes are really great!
Jinzor, hope your dad has some time to finish all the custom techs soon!!
