Trailer for the 2016 movie: WARCRAFT...

Even in PG13 movies you can have brutal violence. I saw Batman vs Superman and there were tons of scenes where people get bones broken, necks snapped, cut in half by eye lazers, set on fire, etc. But apparently it didn't warrant an R rating because there was no blood. :crazyeye:

Am I the only one who's pumped for the movie? I don't expect anything, just some cheesy popcorn. It didn't work for me in The Hobbit because it was so jarring next to the Fellowship of the Ring (LotR 3 was, too), but the CGI is very good and there's a hot orc chick and all. Popcorn cheese.

No. Having fun while watching movies is banned. You must watch only deep and intellectual movies about the horror that is existence.

Preferably if a Greek philosopher or two are mentioned.

I'm cautiously intrigued. I can't believe how ridiculously good the CGI looks.

Maybe Blizzard have earned so much money from selling viewing rights to Starcraft tournaments across Korea that they've been able to afford breeding their own orcs.

:D

haha!

On the other hand, they're planning to/talking about bringing back to life Cave Lions, Aurochs, and other creatures, so why not mess with genetics a bit and create some nasty lookin' Orcs? (although the female's nice!, and Orcs, if ever existed, could be lesser evil for humankind than Isis is and will be)

Perhaps Orcs represent Neanderthals? And the Elves the Denisovans?

The styling is very true to warcraft and for that reason I will see it. Looked more like warcraft 2 and less like world of warcraft :)

Yeah, they did seem to nail the aesthetic of Warcraft pretty well. Although I see it as more of the Warcraft 3 style than Warcraft 2. I too, will probably go see it although I wish it would stick more to the actual Warcraft 1 plot, which it does not seem like it's going to do. It looks like this one movie is going to mix and match the plots of the first three games.

Doing plot for something like this is harder than from scratch. A good video game into movie plot is like trying to write a great story with heavy constraints on what you characters can be, often in a way that blocks otherwise good options.

It probably won't be Mario live action levels of bad, but making it any good is a tall order.

This is precisely why I am much more forgiving in my criticism of video game movies than I am with movies made from scratch. The directors, writers, and producers for video game movies already have the odds immensely stacked against them, so the fact that they can sometimes manage to even put together a coherent video game movie is something to be lauded.

Please. You think THIS is where Blizzard is jumping the shark? Their lore has been a mess since at LEAST Cataclysm and probably before that. Considering they can't even manage to keep things straight in the one and only Warcraft game that's come out in the last decade, I would definitely advise against raising hopes too much for this movie.
TBH, WoD (the latest expansion) is in a league of its own when it comes to absolutely terrible plot, and make all the storytelling flaws of the rest of the game added together looks like a litterature jewel.

I wish I was exagerating.

I just wish Blizzard would make Warcraft 4 so we could all just pretend WoW never happened.

It's hilarious how stupid the American movie rating system is. All that and it's PG13, but you show a hint of one nipple and it's rated "Only Obama can see this movie, stay away"

Unless you're 17 or older, or have a parent-ish looking person with ya, sure.

I expect that W4 will never actually happen unless WoW subscriptions take a massive dip.
Then we guess W4 is around the corner, considering how WoD crashed from 10 millions sub to most probably less than 5 :p (and maybe even less than 4 now)

You're missing the point, kids shouldn't be exposed to so much violence and gore, and yet the American ratings system doesn't seem to give a crap about that, but they place such crazy restrictions on depictions of the human body and expressions of human love.

It's completely backwards.

There's still people that think kids shouldn't be exposed to that sort of stuff. They wind up fighting a quixotic battle against the violence that seeps through the television rating system and the ubiquitous-to-the-point-it's-boring ocean of meaningless rut on everything else.
