True Legacy Nes: Alternative Cold War

Aw screw it Ill try the USA or Germany whichever you prefer a player for.

I will take the one Adrogans doesn't get.

Well since it was not set in stone, I shall ask for the United States.

Germany for me then.

You two can argue out the USA thing. :p

Like the timeline, but a bit of a nitpick about it.

Canada and the other commonwealth countries were already independent. It might be better to say that they declared themselves republics and left the commonwealth.

So just to make sure, even reading the history, I get confused as to where some alliances include as members.

Such as (correct me if I am wrong);
The US is in the ANZUS Alliance, including Australia, New Zealand and the US.

But then the US joins the Commonwealth Alliance which includes the same nations as the above, then adds Canada, India and South Africa. (This is the only one I am confused with, it mentioned nothing about the dissolving of the ANZUS Alliance. (Is this alliance still active or was it dissolved following the US entry into the Commonwealth Alliance?))

Then we have the ADTO Accord, between Canada, US, Mexico and the Carribean Union. Is this an alliance in its own right or just a defensive pact or something else entirely.

If I receive no response, I will just assume the first two alliances are still active, and the ADTO Accord is just a Defensive Pact.

ANZUS is full alliance, Commonwealth is full alliance, ADTO is defensive

Alright, lets have orders due Wednesday

No they aren't. I believe I may have stated that, but right now, France and Britain are free from alliance commitments. Germany does have control over parts of your government, and due to your ideology, you are closest to them.

@HL: Thanks.

From Vichy France
To the United Kingdom

Would you like to enter in a mutually beneficial alliance with us? In these dangerous and highly tensioned years, it would be wise to find as many friends as possible, to outnumber our foes.

From Vichy France
To Italy

While we have had disagreements in the past, I hope there is no quarrel remaining between our two peoples. We wish to formally sign a Non-Aggression Pact with you, to further our relationship with the Italian people.

Some more questions & possible rule errors:

1. There are currently no rules regarding protectorates and puppet states, only mere mention of them.

2. Are there any rules regarding military quality?

3. "Diesel Attack Subs - 0.2 boats
Nuclear Attack Subs - 0.5 boats"

I think those prices should be the other way around, why would nuclear subs cost less than diesel subs?

4. "Light Carrier - 0.1 ships
Heavy Carrier - 0.2 ships"

Same as above.

5. Why are Battleships cheaper than Heavy and Light Cruisers?

6. "Needles to say they are badly trained," -It should be Needless, in the Mobilization section.

7. Can you share technological research? If so, what are the rules dictating it?

1. There are currently no rules regarding protectorates and puppet states, only mere mention of them.

Thank you for bringing tis to my attention, it shall be fixed with utmost haste

2. Are there any rules regarding military quality?

Military quality is determined by technology you have (Troops aided by APCs would beat troops without them)

3. "Diesel Attack Subs - 0.2 boats
Nuclear Attack Subs - 0.5 boats"

I think those prices should be the other way around, why would nuclear subs cost less than diesel subs?

Oops, you are correct

4. "Light Carrier - 0.1 ships
Heavy Carrier - 0.2 ships"

Same as above.

Correct again

5. Why are Battleships cheaper than Heavy and Light Cruisers?

What? Oh my, I messed up on the price list

6. "Needles to say they are badly trained," -It should be Needless, in the Mobilization section.

oops

7. Can you share technological research? If so, what are the rules dictating it?

No, but you can share blueprints, which give 33% discount rounded down

Thomas Dewey, President of the United States, leaned back in his chair after listening to a local baseball game on the radio, with him was his Vice President, Earl Warren, together the two men discussed the baseball game. Despite the stormy evening and the quiet rooms in the White House, the two men still manage to make their day. Inevitably the conversation drifted to the post war changes in the world, Warren was the first to mention the possible threat to Democracy from abroad, most notably Germany, with Japan a close second, the two being the only powers strong enough to give the United States a run for its money.

Warren leaned forward and practically whispered, "I have always wondered how the world would have turned out should Roosevelt's Lend-Lease program passed Congress."
Dewey just sat there and stared outside for a moment, "Well, I doubt much would have changed, America having to give England ships, guns, ammunition, food, oil, and many other vital goods, would just hurt us more than it would have hurt them."
"Perhaps, but now England is lost to the Fascist tide, our closest ally for 200 years gone in an instant. I still think Congress acted too rashly."
"Now, now, Earl, Congress only did what they believed the people wanted, you cannot blame them for doing that. Sometimes one has to sacrifice an ally to save oneself."
Warren huffed, "It is not moral to abandon an ally in their time of need. Now America will be known as an country who does not come to their allies aid."
Dewey shot up and fired back, "Well, we supported the Australians and New Zealanders from possible Japanese aggression in the aftermath of the war. We stood by them and helped them keep Japan off their doorstep. So do not lecture me on morals and ethics! In war we have to cut ties with those who will drag us down and ally with those who would help us rise to be even stronger than we are."
Warren sighed, he would never get Dewey to understand his position.

The conversation turned back to baseball and domestic issues in the country. But Warren hoped Dewey would realize the threat posed in Europe and Asia and counter it before it was too late.

"My fellow Frenchmen, today, we have officially begun our National Reconstruction Project, one which will bring back the glories of old France.

We must, of course, remember the tragedies of the Third Republic. The Communists that were so integral to that government, their disruption to our society, and their utopian ideals, ultimately led to our downfall. I do not believe in such delusional thinking, Hitler didn't either, and I believe that, THAT is why Fascism has triumphed.

This reconstruction does not aim to create a French utopia, that goal is not only unachieveable, but also an extremely dangerous view, in this dangerous world. We wish for peace with all the nations of the world, but that is also impossible, since the democracies, communists, and even some of our fellow fascists refuse to cooperate for the greater good of humanity. Thus, we must rebuild France, to combat these grave threats to our existence.

The first goal of our reconstruction project is to repair the damages of the previous war, and expand the economy. We must reattain a self-sufficient state, one that will benefit both the French people, and the world. We must expand our trade with friendly nations, a mutually beneficial agreement. We will seek German assistance in this endeavor, which will foster a greater bond between our two peoples.

The second goal is to strengthen both France and friendly nations against the dangers of foreign aggression. We are currently in negotiations for a defensive alliance with Britain, and will seek a form of cooperation with Germany.

The purpose of these agreements is to provide unmistakable proof of the joint determination of the fascist nations to resist armed attack from any quarter. Every country must play its part in the common defense.

If we can make it clear, in advance, that any armed attack affecting our national security would be met with overwhelming force, such an attack may never occur.

In addition, we wish to make public the expansion of our armed forces, all three branches. This expansion is not to continue aggression and aggravation, but rather curtail it. Our army is both small and weak, stemming from the failures of the Third Republic. We must modernize, expand, and reform it to ensure security for all of France. We must also expand our navy against aggressors both across the seas, but also closer to home. The navy will also ensure security for our fellow Frenchmen overseas. Finally, we will begin construction of a defensive and strategic air force. We must prevent the bombing of French cities and the killing of the innocents.

Fourth, we must embark on a new program for making the benefits of our scientific advances and industrial progress available for all.

The world is filled with underdeveloped areas, economically stagnant, suffering from diseases and malignants of all sorts. Humanity now possesses the knowledge and the skill to relieve the suffering of these people, but it is not shared by all. We are willing to form an international agency solely dedicated the advancement of technology and the implementation of beneficial advances.

Increased production is the key to prosperity and peace, and that will require a wider and greater application of modern scientific and technical knowledge.

For this reconstruction project to succeed however, I need the help and prayers of each and every one of you. I ask for your encouragement and your support. The tasks we face are difficult, and we can accomplish them only if we work together.

To that end we will devote our strength, our resources, and our confidence. The future of France will be assured in a new world of justice, prosperity, and peace."
