France turns into a beast early just flying through the SP's

I like the concept of Spain's ability but if you dont start next to a wonder, then you really get nothing

Bushido allows you field a large army, but not have to use turns to heal all the time.

Mongol Terror seems too limited with the city state attack bonus.

Spain's UA is just plain fun. The initial exploration rush is fun and the way every game plays out is unique. Going to start with the GL and NC? Well crap, there is Cerro de Potosi 20 tiles away. Settle it early for the 20 :c5gold: pt? If you luck out you can have the most powerful UA in the game.

Iroquois' UA is just boring and not very useful. Free roads through woods in my own territory? Roads are simple and easy to build and don't cost that much, and you really don't usually have to move through your own lands that fast anyway.

- America: Too weak and does not really change anything fundamentally with how I would approach the game.

+ Babylon: Science rules, plain and simple. Also goes a long way towards defining the flavor of the civ

Edit: Updated with basta's fixes

No UA has more of an effect on how you open your game than Siberian Riches. AH first, forget luxury techs...who does that? Huge stealth :c5gold: bonus, and a solid :c5production: bonus as well.

The Mongolian UA isn't why you pick that civ. Knocking over city-states repeatedly is usually a pretty bad idea.

Scholars of the Jade Hall - Ridiculously overpowered, by far one of the best UA's.
Mongol Terror - The horse bonus is nice, but attacking citystates is just foolish. The bonuses certainly are much better then conquering it for pointless unhappiness.

Just my opinion.

(-) Wayfinding : Silly for most games unless you want to populate secondary islands and nab a few ruins.

(+) Siberien Riches : Great Production, never a lack of strategic resources.

I think it will be decidedly meh. GP tile improvements are bad unless you are going for a cultural victory usually. Extra science per specialist is nice, but there is a rationalism policy that does that already and no one says it is particularly powerful. We don't know how much the boost from wonders/science buildings will be.

What is wrong with you people!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Mongol Terror isn't just about city-state domination, it gives an awesome mounted unit boost.
Along with the Keshiks and Khans, it makes Mongolia alongside Germany with the best military civs in the game!
If you down voted this, you haven't played with the Mongols or don't know how.

I agree.
The OP should have waited untill Korea came out, but it is such a good thread I won't complain anyway. :goodjob:

Korea isn't even out yet. It's silly to be voting it up so i'm going to counteract that.

Another UA I don't like is the Egyptian one.

What is wrong with you people!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Exactly!

You need better justification than, "Someone voted it up, so I'll vote it down".

More like - someone voted up an ambiguous UA without ever having played the civ.

Imagine if it was the Ottomans being released as DLC: their UA says "has a discount on naval unit maintenance" (in addition to the converting barb Galleys ability) - now, for all we know that discount could be 5% (making it a crappy UA) or 90% (making it super overpowered). It's not clear cut like say, Russia's ability. And even then if you haven't played the civ it's just too early to form an opinion solid enough to vote it up or down, IMO.

I'm not doing it to be spiteful, I just think it's unfounded and probably partly due to excitement for the upcoming release of Korea (and don't get me wrong - i'm going to buy the DLC :) ).

Personally I think the ability is probably going to be very good if you play a smallish science focused empire - but I can't know for sure until I play the civ.

Spain's UA is much too luck dependent to actually be worth anything overall. More so if you like playing larger maps.

Whatever you want to do in the game, you need science. The boost is consistent and it does not force you into a VC.

If you down voted this, you haven't played with the Mongols or don't know how.

Keshiks have enough moves already; +1 is superfluous. If you're using other Horse units (other than the token Horseman for captures), you don't know to play Mongolia.

*Babylon, along with what everyone else has been saying. A top tier UA, always useful, without going out of your way for one Victory or other unlike
*India which has been mentioned is the only UA with a penalty, and pretty much forces you to play one way [Vertical].

Aztec +1: I like the synergy between guns and butter
America -2: extra sight doesn't make much difference in strategy. I can count the number of tiles I buy in a game on one hand.
