Japan's bonus is useful on any map you play on with all units.

Mongolia's bonus is aim mostly at city-states, which it's bad if you conquer them.

I still think Mongolia's trait is aimed at mounted units with city state conquest as an added ability.
Anyone who says Keshiks having 5 :c5moves: is mediocre should consider this: you can move over a hill, fire, and move back 1 space to escape bombardment.
Or, for plains, move 2, fire, then move 2 back.

I forgot about the +2 for mounted as part of their UA when I voted earlier, thinking it was just the city state thing. What makes the Mongols so great really is a combination of the units & UA. One without the other wouldn't be of much use. If the UA can't stand on it's own, it makes sense to be near the bottom. But Ottomans & Arabs UAs are certainly worse.

My point exactly!
It's 1 :c5moves: not 2, but you get the idea.

mongolia's ua makes everyone hate you if you use it and diverts your time from conquering major civs and getting stronger at their expense rather than leaving them alone while you take out city states

rome's ua is always helpful no matter what (unless you are going one city challenge in which case you should have never even considered rome) but i think the percentage should be higher (up to 50% total) because their unique units are in the classical era which makes them an almost non facter in standard pace games because neither of them have a bonus that carries over to the next upgrade

I'm just going to go ahead and killshot Mongol Terror. Four moves is plenty for a shoot and scoot unit, and the rest of the UA is trash.

France's UA makes the beginning of the game so much easier. Not having to bother with Monuments to rapidly get the critical first three policies in Liberty dramatically speeds up the start, and those are the turns that matter the most.

Rome's UA is very nice for NC starts. Capital is often the first to build new buildings available. Iroquois's UA is useless for me in most cases since i almost always play with disable start bias, a popular setting in mp mode for the sake of balance. Trees are good for chopping, and chopping helps you to survive the first 60 turns.

* Longer golden ages are nice, but the often overlooked bonus is the extra movement during GA's. Go 3 policies into liberty as early as possible for a 15 turn GA and your scouts will discover the known world pdq.
* As has been said, Spains UA is nice, unfortunately it is almost completely random and/or map dependent.

Day 4

Persia +1: I like the synergy between butter (golden ages are acquired through various "builder" methods such as policies, great people, happiness) and guns (golden ages provide a military benefit)
Egypt -2: the bonus is too small to make much of a difference in strategy, plus I'm usually behind in tech compared to the AI, and don't have the chance to build wonders anyway

Egypt: Wonders are pretty useful, and being able to crank them out before other people snatch them is nice too.

Hasta la vista Spain--a UA based on dumb luck is not that appealing.

It's been a while since I played Russia but the resource bonuses are strong to use or to sell excess (and it's rare that you don't get iron near Moscow).

Honestly how are the Arabs still on here?? The UA is pretty craptastic...are people confused with the building?

Polynesia is criminally underrated here unless it's pangea. There is a ton of value in meeting all the civs on the other continent way before everyone else. Double the RA partners...

Another vote for France though, cuz they're still awesome.

Like songhai, but the embarked defensive is actually a DISadvantage due to bugs. 3x gold is nice, but just not as strong as other UAs.

+1ed Aztecs because I just love all that early culture and it really works well with an early UU for barb hunting

MP analysis : France's UA has a great value in term of flexibility and rapid expansion. Even a crap land is somewhat good with this civ. Greece's UA is worthless in mp. Siam's bonus is better. But Greece has 2 wonderful UUs to compensate. But hey, this is a thread about UAs, and Greece doesn't have a good one....at least in mp.

Inca: half to none road maintenance is already great plus you get double movement in hills.
Iroquois: Forests and jungles are chopped most of the time.

PS: Wayfinding is great unless you're playing pangea. You can explore map much more early and collect lots of ancient ruins. It gives you important early boost.
