UK CFC Meet up?

Nothing wrong with organisation :D.

(I'm more obsessive myself though).

Right, i'll try and work on that over the weekend then :goodjob:.

I still might come, if the date is set soon. Since for me it would be a 3 hour trip by plane (i wouldnt just be visiting for the meeting, but i would like to be able to be there too ;) ) it would be a lot easier for me if the date was known at least half a month before the meeting itself. As for a photo: there is one of mine in the member photo's thread.

Date fixed a page or three ago.

An easy-to-read synopisis was posted earlier in the thread:

Date: Saturday 17th December 2005
Place: London
Itinerary:
Morning: - (meeting around 11am)
Starbucks near Tottenham Ct Rd
Oxford St -> Oxford Circus (shops)
Regent St (Apple Shop & Hamleys in particular)
Picadilly Circus (and surrounding monopoly board properties)
Lunchtime:
Lunch.
Afternoon:
Bus -> South Kensington
Museums (Natural History, Science or Victoria and Albert.)
Dinner-time:
Dinner.
Evening:
Pub? Dunno.

How much is it going to cost? :p

Can I come?

Don't know many of you but this sounds like a good idea.

I can even put up someone for the weekend, if they want. Possibly two people, but that could be rather cramped in my flat.

BTW, IMO the itinerary seems a bit ambitious. I reckon it would be far better to meet in an easy place centrally and then find a pub. Anyone wanting to do other stuff can easily do so once everyone's met up.

I know London pretty well so if anyone needs any help or advice about transport, places to stay etc, I can help.

Hmm...in London:

Itinerary:
Morning: - (meeting around 11am)

Oxford St -> Oxford Circus (shops)
Regent St (Apple Shop & Hamleys in particular)
Picadilly Circus (and surrounding monopoly board properties)
Christmas shopping methinks
Lunchtime:
Lunch.
Afternoon:
Bus -> South Kensington
Museums (Natural History, Science or Victoria and Albert.)
Or more Christmas shopping
Dinner-time:
Dinner.
Evening:
Pub? Dunno.
Drinking and then Soho

Call me a cheap, but why do Christmas shopping in London?

Thanks for the summaries. It helps. I must say, having looked at it, I have absolutely no interest in visiting monopoly board properties and Oxford Street. Having lived there for 7 years I'm fed up of that mayhem. So I'll probably catch you all at the museums (maybe I'll find some statues to hug) and I'd be happy to head up the drinking and clubbing expedition.

All are welcome:) So please do come!:goodjob:

OK, so it looks like my father's birthday get together is going to be on the Sunday not the Saturday, so unless this changes I should be able to make it. I will come down by train (Thameslink) which run pretty frequently, although I'm not sure exactly when at the moment, I'll look it up nearer the time. It's been getting on for 20 years since I was at Uni in London, and getting on for 10 years since I did the daily commute when I worked there. Bet I see some changes!

:bump:!

Posting mostly for the purpose of bumping but Rambuchan, could you ammend the opening post with the agenda and attendance list please?

HELLO sophie and thankyous for including me in your list. I am going to Brighton in January of 2006, I don't think I will meet anyone from here, unless they want to.
I just thought I would post in this thread, because at the time I didn't know when I would be going to England, but I know now.

PS, I dont have a house on Oxford Street:blush:

Possibly only of interest to Davo.... Synthetic Culture is on every 3rd Friday of the month... which handily coincides with the CFC weekend. Up for it?

That is my magic number! It's a shame I posted again and ruined the tally :(

Is anyone else tempted to wear their avatar for purposes of being recognised, or is asking this just another example of me being a dork?

Perhaps when we have actually finalised things it would be good to make a new thread with the exact details and get a Mod to sticky it? Would make things less confusing:D
