The following site asks you just over 20 policy-related questions. Each of these questions has an official stance by each of the 3 main parties (+ UKIP & Greens).

The site then tells you how your views on these key policies align with the different parties views, and suggests how you should vote, if you want to see the maximum correlation between your ideology and the parties in question.

Now where this is unusual is in the results. The Lib Dems and the Greens, according to the actual opinions of those who took the tests are the 2 parties most closely representing the ideology of the people taking the tests. :crazyeye:

What is interesting is to conjecture whether the internet is just full of liberal-green-hippie types, or if the main political UK parties now offer no more choice than the US parties (right wing or really right wing).

Labour -38
Conservative -63
Liberal Democrat 97
UK Independence Party -2
Green 50

Well looks like im voteing for Lib Dem no change as i was voteing for them anyway

I would vote for none of the political parties in the U.K, they all are a bunch of backstabbing, cooperate driving, unethical bunch of suckers. I believe that multinational companies are at the heart of their agenda, greedy and ruthless they all serve the same master, and the party leader says to the multinational company, "would you like another slice of planet earth, sir"

Maybe it's cos I'm a Lib Dem supporter, but I felt the questions were biased in favour of the Lib Dems.

Labour......................... -4
Conservative... -39
Liberal Democrat .........................................70
UK Independence Party ..............12
Green ...............................................42

My results:

Labour: -18
Con: -81
LibDem: 116
UKIP: -10
Green: 55

Weirdly I am closer to the policies of UKIP - a bunch of old fashioned rascists, than I am to New Labour. This shouldn't shock me too much though as Labour is VERY right wing economically, and also Tony is more authoritarian than Maggie ever was.

What really surprises me though is that I have such a high number for the Lib Dems. Admittedly when I was answering the questions I could see their polices in there, but they are socalist policies and I agree with them 100%.

It's a sad sad say in UK polotics where the socialist party (Old Labour) have rebranded (New Labour) and removed all links to socialism (even symbolic ones like the Red Flag - now the Red Rose). At least to counter it the libertarian party (Liberal Democrats) has now introduced socialist policies and is indeed socialist as well as libertarian.

I really am confused over the Green thing - I am going to re-investigate the Green manisfesto to see where we differ so much.

Labour -8
Conservative -17
Liberal Democrat 30
UK Independence Party -5
Green 15

So, did you actually read the Green party literature at all?

Or maybe you read the Socialist Alliance?

Or maybe you checked out the local independant candidates standing in your constituancy?

Hatred of Labour/Tories/LibDems is no need to hate everyone who is trying to make this country a better place. They are not all bastards, just 99%.

Is there a party that's Libertarian in social issues, supports a flat tax, doesn't feel strongly on the war and supports major reformation of the government education policies all the way from primary to tertiary?

I haven't really been paying attention.

Your actual outcome:
Labour -12
Conservative 23
Liberal Democrat -28
UK Independence Party 22
Green 5

Great, it appears that the UK has the same political problem as the US - there's no socially-liberal/fiscally-conservative party.

Incidentally, I didn't think UKIP actually had any domestic policies, much less that I'd come out in favour of them more often than Labour.

That test is screwed up - I put agree on the European constitution question and on the join the Euro question, and it said I should vote for UKIP.:crazyeye:

Labour 12
Conservative 29
Liberal Democrat -54
UK Independence Party 20
Green -12

Glad I'm not a British voter, I'd be pretty unhappy with the choices.

Apparently, you only lose 18 points for UKIP if you vote "strongly agree" for the European questions.

No-one supports a flat tax in the UK becuse you would have to stop the welfare state.

But I guess the poor don't matter to you...

Edit: Don't forget pensions. You can't pay anyone a pension with a flat tax (unless you want to alternatively close ALL the schools instead of 80% of them).

Oh, I just realised how you can do it! You can just make the flat tax rate higher, like 35%. Yes, I can see that working.

Flat tax doesn't necessarily mean reduced tax revenue...

EDIT- And no, the poor don't matter.

Labour -23
Conservative -55
Liberal Democrat 80
UK Independence Party 7
Green 43
