Maintenance goes up a bit but so does trade route value, don't know how it pans out exactly but i doubt if it'll be significant.

Happy cap can be an issue especially in cities that have good tiles to work, working all good tiles and accomodating all the specs might not be possible. Rostov comes to mind, wouldn't be my first candidate for Sushi. But we can convert some farms to cottages around these specific cities. But in those coastal towns where we're working sea we can always downsize the city a bit by putting the sea tiles to specs, lose 2 commerce from those tiles. I also founded some marginal cities that suddenly look good with sushi. There is one reasonable site left that should be settled in the sw of the island but there's also room for iirc 3 barren coastal sites, these sites suddenly look profitable too with sushi.

Finally 1GM (trade mission otherwise?) and 15 execs (and 6 banks + wallstreet, don't bother with Wallstreet without shrines/corps usually so i count it as extra investment) is significant. Then again how else will we spend those hammers, some suggestions:

wealth - to get to eco sooner build hammer infra and go domination/space
military - to go for some conquest immed.
infra - espionage, the other infra like market/obs/banks can and should imo be whipped in now before the emancipation penalty becomes too steep.

Paradoxically Sushi would help enormously by using slavery to the hilt. I think you'd get back the invested hammers with interest. There's almost always a way to convert food surplusses.
 
Back from vacation --looks pretty good.

If Sal is going for us, seems like we're likely in trouble. Definately get the caravel to take a look but not sure if it's worth taking any other measures.

I guess we weren't thinking about the palace change when we built the FP--oh well.

We have two trades available--Liz med for physics and Isa corp for bio. Ideally we'd stall both but not sure that's worth it. Nobody has electricity and Liz is tech leader so she won't trade it away so it's just 4 turns of risk with her on sushi.

We might want to stall the NP a turn to avoid GS pollution.
 
Ouch Palace switch, completely forgot about that :blush:. That's pretty nasty, maybe we should wait a bit with the switch but there probably comes a time when we need Lisbon for best production. We don't need that production right nown so i'd take it off queue for a moment since FP cuts down on maintenance significantly. If we go FS we can switch the palace back to the north of the island later, otherwise we may have to live with it as under buro the palace has to be in Lisbon.

There's no need to hurry the medicine trade i think as we need to accumulate gold anyway.
 
OK- checking things out.

We're 5 turns to a GP, which is showing 74% merchant, 10% eng.
If we pop and engineer, we can switch gears and go for mining.

Question is do we try and make a run to electricity and a wonder? Our production is pretty lame but if we have enough of a lead and keep the palace in Moscow we could give it a shot. Probably not worth it as we'll lose GP production and even with the FP built where it is I think the palace switch is worth it. But likely worth beelining ecology to build the hammer buildings. Most likely we'll be able to trade some along the way.

So I'm thinking we skip rifling and demo planning to trade for them--it is a risk skipping rifling here tho.

Please chime in with comments--I'm feeling a little lost to be honest
 
Only wonder along the electricity line i'd fancy is CR. We ned to accumulate cash for some time, then decide on our path.

I wouldn't worry about Sal, i rechecked code, his possible targets are Kublai first because Kublai is a landtarget or Brennus next if Kublai is too strong. If both are too strong we might get into the picture. Kublai could be too strong but Brennus isn't i think.Kublai and Brennus need to be 1.5 * as strong (modified by xml value) as Sal to avoid declaration. So it's one of them i think and i'd skip rifling.

this lets us build a blimp to scout just in case sal is coming for us.
Set research to electricity at 0%.

I stall Lisbon a turn on the palace--it doesn't do too much for us anyway at 0% science.

It's kind of hard for me to see us with a wonder unless we crank production in Lisbon and delay WS--which I guess is worth it if we get it. Problem is we may want to trade electricity. I'm thinking skip the wonder--the AI build them pretty fast but I'm not sure.

The choice is between running to electricity now or accumulating more cash. If we wait, we may get to trade for it and we can then run for radio hoping the ais will leave this tech for a while. But if the ais don't go for electricity now it would be better to self research it. I'd probably accumulate some more cash, we'll need more anyway to get to radio and nuclear fission. Izzy is doing well and she might well go electricity after combustion.

Definitely trade DR for some gold right away with Kublai, i think he'll be friendly too after this trade. Since Sushi is sure now we can trade medicine to him, won't help him too much..

Good catch on KK--I was waiting to get more $ but we're at +9 so this could put him friendly. Definately.

As for electricity, the other issue is should we hurry there and trade it with Iz?
I'm thinking that's a better plan--we've got a lot of backfilling to do and I'm less worried about Iz actually beating us.

I'm thinking in either case we forget about trying a wonder--better to hustle out WS and there's not really any way we can build one in Moscow.
 
I would not expect to trade for Electricity before Broadway is gone. Prepare to research it ourselves. Also I would skip the Broadway due to the lack of strong production city and I don't think we can be the 1st to get it. Focus on getting Radio 1st and try to gain the most of it. Regarding research, in most of my play, I go for either 0 or 100 and have some cash in bank most of the time.
 
They sometimes trade the first turn they get a tech only 1 or a few turns later starting the wonder.
I also wouldn't go broadway, rock and roll might be doable if the others don't go that way and we've got nothing better to build, i'd go redentor first though.

With the derth of immortal/deity challenges in the strategy forum I've taken to shadowing the ungy series, at least the games I haven't read, applying the same house rules as the originals. I'm playing the first EE challenge with Vicky right now. :)

I wish I had the time and energy for it but I prefer to lurk for now. I've got an online game of my own to finish as well. It's very fun to do these kind of games but it takes a looong time and can be a bit exhausting. I generally want to have no work etc. or I can't concentrate on it. :)

Palace in Lisbon, sushi in Lisbon.

KK will not trade railroad for medicine and all our gold--I could get demo but I gamble that I'll be able to trade med+electricity for RR+demo. Bad bet--he trades for it:(

Electricity is in and we get some bad news:

KK leaves bureau and he's no longer friendly:(.

I'm not really sure what to do in terms of tile improvements--with electricity and no RR yet I convert some mines to windmills. I get Evora working a couple of cottages for Lisbon later.

Sal is no longer in WHEOOHRN but Iz is.

I'll pass the torch here --I think we should make a game plan.
