Unit requests thread

Hey Houman, trying to get more units for the Persians?

zweifman, was thinking that a ww2 japanese infrantry would be a great addition. But for a little bit of difference, i suggest the units have bayonets attached to their rifles and use the pikemen animation not the standard infrantry animation. Reading a history book on ww2 japanese infrantry at the moment and the bayonet charge was favoured over all other tactics. This was because of the lengthy training of each soldier with the bayonet, until he was extremely comfortable with it.

"Above all else, Japanese military authorities stressed bayonet training... Japanese infantry instructors repeatedly emphasised that the bayonet was 'essentially the weapon of the offensive'. To ensure the soldier was effective in its use, Japanese manuals stressed that the infrantryman must be 'confident, skilled and without fear, and that... he must have absolute confidence in his weapon and in himself" (Daugherty 2002: 29).

So hopefully this goes ahead.

Indeed. We need a bit more units for Persians. White rabbit did a good job on Persian Immortal. If someone could take that as base, and reskin it a bit with different weapons according to the pictures above, that would be great.

Regarding WWII Japanese infantry; it sounds very nice. Indeed the Japanese had still their Samurai way of fighting in the second world war. And they were very successfull with that, were there not the shortage of resources and the US nuclear bombs...

We need actually a bit more Roman units as well..

Regards
Houman

Have you checked the greek units thread. I know they're Greek not roman but I think with some reskins and maybe a different shield or two they'd work. :)

What I need is somene with NIF Editor experience in my team. :D And maybe a skinner...

Request: Most are just mix & match with existing models. For the 19th Century Europe Mod, the following things are needed...

Early-to-Mid 19th centrury
- Napoleonic Lancers (civ-colored redcoat on horse with lance)

Mit-to-Late 19th Century: (e.g. Franco-Prussian war-era)
- Later-19th century guards/heavy infantry (dunno... could be a reskinned rifleman w/ later-era hat (maybe a German Pickelhaube?))
- Later-19th century Hussars (cavalry unit with sword and cannon-guy’s head?)
- Later-19th century Cuirassiers (Cossack unit with sword and rifleman head?)
- Later-19th century combat engineers (rifleman with shovel and dynamite?)
- Later-19th century artillery (Cannon with rifleman artillerist)

WWI-era
- WWI-era generic infantry (could just be Machine Gunner w/ a rifle)
- WWI-era generic heavy cavalry (again, just Machine Gunner on a horse w/ a rifle)
- WWI-era generic light cavalry (MG on horse w/ pistol)
- WWI-era generic combat engineers (Machine Gunner w/ shovel & dynamite?... for entrenchment bonuses)
- WWI-era generic gas infantry/storm trooper (Machine Gunner w/ rifle and WWI-style gasmask)

Any help is greatly appreciated :goodjob:

Yes, hows this for an original idea. See once i was playing as the mongols and there were no horses to be found. None, nada, not one  . I did however have an abundance of sheep (like 5  ), what i needed was sheep riders. With sheep riders i could have laid waste to my enemies, and driven them before me (very slowly :)) . But alas, my people had not yet bred the humble sheep for war. Their minds had not truly grasped the genius of war sheep.

So yeah, my suggestion is a sheep archer and/or a sheep riding keshik.

Post scriptus: I was not under the influence of any drugs while coming up with this idea.

I need some help with this ship.

It is a combination between the Civ4 Caravel (hull), Galley (sail) and parts of this Ship (only the rudder comes from that model). The idea is, getting a early trade ship with one single mast, like a cog or even a corbita. I failed trying it myself (using scene viewer only for that).

Thats a great idea!

I would really like a cataphract unit for the byzantines. If it has already been made could someone plaese point it out to me. That would be great.

If it hasn't maybe something like the one from civIII. You could use the praetorian body with maybe a white horse using the companion cavalry graphic. Also will civIV unit and building graphics be compatible with warlords?(i want to import stuff from civIII vanilla to genghis khan scenario)

The cataphract has already been made. See Total Realism.

more early to mid era ships would be nice. mainly 1400-1800 types. a lot of mods seem to be centering around this era with the age of discovery or pirate themed.

ive tried my hand at doing some things in the nif viewer but there are so few actual parts to the ships which makes it pretty hard to try to mix and match. not much is really needed -- changing the number of masts or giving a ship another type of sail will really be enough. texture changing and resizing can only go so far imo. would be really nice to get something like the frigate but with the caravels front sail or a galleon with more upward sloping ends to look like a carrack etc.

i think it would be really nice if someone could do that. itd help add a lot more variety to the always lacking naval aspect of civ.

I got a couple (I know it won't be made, but what the hell):

Jeep
Modern Infantry
Trench Infantry
Galleass
Unmounted Knight

Back
Top Bottom
