Unit requests thread

Has anyone done some ww2 specific units to go with the Desert War scenario that comes with vanilla civ4? It would be nice to actually see a B-17 Flying Fortress instead of a jet fighter. :)

Only like a couple hundred of them. Do a search in this forum or the modern units section of the download database. Youll pretty much find just about every WW2 plane, ship, tank, infantry, and whatever else you want. Including the B-17. Especially if its german, US, or English.
 
Yeah, not really what I was hoping for. Was hoping more of a unit from when they were formed/early years. Theres already indian marines and infantry in the DB.

Unfortunatly, they're in the same condition as the Ghurka.

The all-white part is right, but I added the colors so it wouldn't be as boring. It is from around 1900 around the time Japan occupied Korea. I don't know specifically how accruate they are because I based it on one picture, but its very close.
 
How about Norman Knights?
There is a great Norman Swordsman here, if someone could put him on a horse of some sort (propably armored horse), that would be really cool.
The Norman foot soldiers were certainly important, but the mounted knights were their real powerhouse/game changer.

Why not use snafusmith's G3?

Simple request, can someone put the Marine's head on the Navy Seal's body?

Not as simple as you would think. The Marine has some weird thing with blender, first it doesn't want to load. If you do get it to load, it comes out distorted. Most units would be easy to remove their heads, but the marine is different.

I was just curious about it, but it works for me. Pheraphs a new blender version, pheraps a new script version...

I haven't blender with me now, so I've tried the head scale trick, but I made a short cut on marine's head yesterday.

Having blender, imo is far better to remove seal's visor instead of cut/past marine's head. Working on textures you may realize whatever you wish.

I never worked on modern units, but I'm quite surprise that noboby removed the visor from navyseal yet. Are you sure that such model (i.e a navyseal without visor) doesn't exist somewhere?
